Spoof, Parody, and Homage (Audio Only)

At some point, all film genres develop tropes and trends. These elements are always eventually deconstructed by film-loving humorists, leading to classic spoofs. We're discussing spoofs, parodies, and homage through the movies Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Black Dynamite, and High Anxiety. Top 10 Best Films of All Time (Audio Only)
Hey fellas... is it odd each time you drop one of these from your Audio Past, it feels I missed it 😂
Sorry, Amelia! Our streams are usually Thursdays at 2 PM CST/8 PM UK, but not this week because Jacob's computer is in the electronics hospital. We hope you can enjoy these old audios!
Did i miss it?
Yes, the stream was earlier this year! We're catching up on posting older streams.
Excellent episode! In response to the question regarding the tree, it probably means something to do with nature being indiscriminate to human struggle, or it represents the passing of time, or it represents how life is constant with or without us, or something. The big issue I have with this podcast is you guys claiming Colin Farrell looks weird with long hair - the man is majestic!
Thank you for another great episode. You guys never fail to inspire me to watch more movies and to explore the depths of cinema history. Recently, I've also found that your videos have inspired me to create, so thank you for all of that.
Please combine your efforts and write the horror film that goes against all the tropes you mentioned. I think it'd be a lot of fun, and I don't have one good reason why someone wouldn't want to make it! Thank you for another great episode ❤
Thank you for another terrific episode! The joy you all clearly felt towards 'The Substance' was infecting :)
Top episode yet again! It's great to see so much attention brought to films like this.
Thank you for another really great episode :)
Fantastic episode - it's great to look back at actors like James Earl Jones. What a presence! Thank you for the insight and the discussion.
Haha, thanks for the sympathy guys :') Another excellent episode - thank you!
Another awesome episode! Thank you for the insight and fun :) Great Miriam Margolyes stories too!
This episode was wild! I cannot believe the extent to which people will purposefully and woefully misunderstand things. Really great tone on some serious subjects - I really appreciate the good time. Thanks guys :)
I had a really fun time with this even though I haven't seen two of the films. I really appreciate the shoutout on my article, too - it's nice taking a risk on an article and hearing that it's worth talking about :) Thank you all!
Another fantastic video. Loved the Pokemon discussion especially :) and cool t-shirt Sam!
Great episode! I'll definitely be checking out The Swimmers! Thank you for the interesting discussion :)
This episode had such a chill vibe, and it was interesting delving into a film (and related filmmakers) less regularly discussed. As an aside... awesome t-shirt Sam! :)
This was another exceptional discussion. It was really exciting revisiting the best (and worst) of the X-Men. Side note: I have the exact same promo postcards of Past Lives that George has! Big love 🎉
This was another truly excellent episode - I love this show! 🤩🤩🤩
"Oh, hi doggy" shirt coming up! Also, thank you for going easy on Kelly Clarkson - Jacob, I'm now fantasising about you somehow introducing me to her (as she's a hometown girl). Thank you all for another excellent listen. I really enjoyed this - I laughed out loud multiple times :)
This was incredibly interesting, thanks guys! The realm of propaganda filmmaking is nuanced, as you helpfully explained, but some of what you watched sounded completely bonkers!
Thanks, Joe!
The best podcast arouuund! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Big love for the stunt people ❤ Thank you for your insight as always. It was a really fun time watching/listening along.
This was such a great discussion on someone I believe is a remarkable filmmaker. You were right, I would have loved to talk about Call Me By Your Name (it is certainly one of my all-time favourites - you were right!) And now I'm going to go and listen to some Sufjan Stevens, so thank you for that too! Keep up the great episodes :)
Really great episode again! Huge love for 'The Iron Claw' being presented by Sam :)
💪 "Promosm"
I was in it until the end! Thank you for another great episode guys! :)
Thanks, Joe, you rock!
Another really interesting episode! Always a big fan of all that you do :)
This was a fun one to do.
🔥🔥🔥
Call the fire department!
Another great episode! Thanks for everything (including the super-duper nice comments!) You're very kind :)
You're the best!
What a great time it is to ring in the new year with you guys! Congratulations on another fantastic episode :)
Happy New Year, Joe!
This was such a top episode! The Sam strip tease was unexpected. Also, I love the Thomas Lennon reference (I loved Reno 911 when I was younger), and a cool movie he's in is 'The Dark Knight Rises' (he's Bruce Wayne's doctor). Keep up the marvellous work - this is my favourite show 🎉
Sam's strip teases are usually reserved for the premium subscribers.
This was such a great listen. I'm instantly adding 'How to Blow Up a Pipeline' to my End of Year watchlist - I really liked the trailer but missed it in cinemas. It was really interesting to get your perspectives on all that was cinema for 2023. Thanks!
All of TFM needs to stop mentioning Kieran's film before we get shut down.
Such an interesting discussion! And great job in your 2nd Cut debut George! Keep up the insightful and brilliant, guys :)
Thanks, Joe! And George was a great guest.
✊✊✊
*emojis here*
Another really interesting discussion, guys. You should definitely sell merch with your faces on as well ;)
We are on it!
I have that t-shirt too, Sam! I'm wearing it right now! Cool water bottle Kieran ❤ This was a great episode. Really interesting filmmakers, fantastic insight. Thanks guys!
Jacob needs to get on it with the merch...
😍😍😍
No bias in this comment 😎
Another great episode, guys! Funny story: I was paying attention to Kieran during his segment and glanced across at Jacob with great concern as I thought he looked sad or unwell. It was, of course, just the makeup haha!
Gotta match that Twilight vampire brood they’re best known for.
Really enjoyed this episode, well done guys. My picks would be Hans Zimmer - Interstellar Ennio morricone - Cinema Paradiso John Williams - Jurassic Park
Thanks, Greg! John Williams was on a crazy run in that era.
very nice podcast
Thank you!
Another top notch episode! I just wanted to join in with my favourites from each composer. Morricone: Once Upon a Time in America Williams: Jurassic Park Zimmer: The Thin Red Line It was really interesting learning so many things in this episode.
Also, Zimmer used a lot of his score for Inception in The Thin Red Line and a lot of his score for Gladiator in Pirates of the Caribbean. He is an utter legend.
Oh, that's fun to know! Of course you'd know about The Thin Red Line's score as TFM's resident Malick expert.
Why thank you @@SecondCutPod 😊
This was so interesting! I'd always heard about these movies but what a great deep dive this was. Coming away from a video podcast armed with new facts and talking points about film always feels great, so thank you for that. And thank you guys for the big-ups at the end, I really appreciate it - it was very kind. Keep on doing what you're doing because this is my favourite thing to watch!
Our show wouldn't be possible without you, Joe!
Really great insight, team! This was such an enjoyable watch.
Joe, this gives me hilariously generic auto-replies to respond to you. Instead I'll make my own. "Thank you for your comment."
