No idea this song had a Chile backstory! as a Chilean that also served in Chile it means a lot. I wasn't a fan of the song back then (early-mid 2000's when I served), but recently ran into it again (thx to The Cultural Hall show) and it clicked in a different way, and really touched me. It hasn't been an easy ride since those days walking through dirt roads in remote towns in southern Chile, and while I'm still not super old I've lived long enough so see so many of those I served with go through so much hardship, many that have reckoned with difficult aspects of our faith but that still remain, and others that have simply had experiences that have affected / hurt them or others enough that they've found the right thing to do for them was to distance themselves from the faith. Living through this hasn't been easy. But one thing remains and will likely remain constant for me, and it is that those years that I devoted completely to help others changed me forever.The words of this song reflect so much what I lived, and I will ever be grateful for that. I've learned over time that my experience is not universal, and that for many their experience as missionaries was and is a painful one; I think we're doing better at recognising that reality and hope we can help address that, because I am fortunate enough to know how fantastic and positively life-changing those 18-24 months can be.

I don't think so. I think their interviews for the past few months are better than the past few years. Taylor and Jeremy actually react now and interrupt and answer. I think it's pretty cool. Watch old interviews, those ones with Josh and Zac (sorry that I had to mention them) were pretty boring because you could feel the tension back then.
