I always thought Marie Antoinette was about Marie herself as a person rather than a political figure. She's out of her depth, and that's a purposeful choice for the character. Marie Antoinette was a graceful but young teenage girl who was a fish out of water type- courted into political slavery, and so living in a world she didn't pick. The story focuses on how she comes of age in an environment that knows how to use her but not understand or value her.

these kind of movies are a big needle in the hay for me, so unique and it never really leaves your mind. and the virgin suicides being coppola’s first film is honestly so impressive, but i guess she got it from her father.

The group of boys idealized the girls/projected onto the girls/it's always from their point of view, centering their thoughts and views. That's why the deaths were portrayed so mysteriously-the boys are our narrators and they didn't get it. The girls decided to die rather than flatten their identities-in my opinion, this was a critique of the "manic-pixie dream girl" trope before the trope had a name.

Tom Waits did the soundtrack for 'One from the Heart' and I'm all about Waits, haha. I agree about Sofia being better, on the whole, but 'Apocalypse Now' is A++.

I respect your opinion since there’s a lot of mystery with the character’s motivations that could have been compelling in their own right but probably renders their totality from being fully realized. But I can’t help but just fall in love with this new film because there’s just so much to appreciate. I love the parallels you mentioned of the apes’ societies that mirror our own throughout our history. I love the concept of apes having symbiotic relationships with eagles and I love the idea of apes discovering electricity much earlier in their evolution than humans did. I’ll admit Proximus Caesar could have been a prominent antagonist in this new trilogy, but I enjoyed his death lol.

I've known 3 people personally who have passed away from 2 hour countertop pasta. It's sad. It's really sad how true it all is.
