The land around Brea was once a settlement bursting with traditional turf/stone homes and farms, before the tenant families were evicted from their homes and ancestral land to make way for sheep during the Highland Clearances. My Gx3 Grandmother was born here at Brea. The more 'modern' cottage was likely built to accommodate the large sheep farmers who took over the area. There's an ancient broch north of the cottage, across the burn. Brea tenant farmers used its stones to build the foundations of their homes, corn kilns, byres, etc..which were in turn taken apart by sheep farmers and made into a huge sheep pen that's still there, along with the ruins of people's tenancies. It's beautiful but barren and a bit haunted there..an atmosphere juxtaposed by the Massive transfer station just up the road at Loch Buidhe, and multiple electrical pylon towers that dot the landscape.

I've seen this exact property (hills and stream etc. too) in multiple (day)dreams of mine. If I've had the money I'd instantly buy it, saddens me to not be able to. I hope someone will buy and save it.

I have seen some amazing twin units and lived in one. Unfortunately I don’t think this is one of them. Still different tastes for different people .

Wow - I love my privacy, but the thought of being in this house is a very scary prospect! I don't think I have ever seen a house so entirely alone as this one! I guess sheep farming was all you could do living here. I would love to see the inside, I guess it has just an outhouse toilet - imagine that in the middle of the night! Oh I forgot the old folks usually had chamber pots under the bed for nighttime! I have stayed in such a place, not quite so alone, in my childhood, when I was with my Aunt & her family, so it's not the primitive life that I would find hard, just the alone status. I guess you would find yourself having adhoc guests as people discovered your place in their wanderings!

When you live in a busy UK city it's hard to imagine that such a remote place and cottage exists!
