1 handicap here ; try to feel athletic over the ball, and stand a touch, and I mean only a touch, further away from the ball. Try to engage your hips on both your takeaway and when you fire through the ball. Don’t be afraid to slow it down a bit a the top either. Good luck brother!!

Great song at the end
thank you!!❤
Thanks Tony. A really useful video, especially for a beginner such as me.
This is gonna be so helpful for field band and songs where we have 12 measures of Bb cause writers hate us
I've been a tuba player for about 50 years and learnt how to clean my instrument whilst still at school (obviously, that was back in the stove age!). When Besson still made instruments at their Edgewater factory in North London I remember being told by their craftsmen to not use 'dish soap' in the water if your instrument is lacquered as opposed to silver-plated. Regularly, household detergents contain salts which can attack the coating over time and ultimately will cause the lacquer to flake. To be fair, B&H lacquer always was very poor. Also ensure that any flexible cleaning brushes are in good condition. Older ones can snap in tight tubes and bends, thereby requiring expensive professional repairs.
thanks for your thoughtful reply, always good to have a fresh perspective!
How much soap should you put into the tub?
Just enough to see some bubbles on the top. 2-3 good squeeze from the bottle
@@tonytortora448 ok 👍
Hi
When are you going to make another video?
Thanks. I have a Tenor horn that I got second hand that is in a dire state (still playable). Just wondering what soap you use? Does any soap do?
i literally physically cannot😭
I feel your pain some techniques come Easier than others but keep working it and try different approaches till you get something you can work with
I'm from sjs
Nice parkor
Nice flipped
Its Will in ST. Jude really good JOB
This is nice
Hi mr T is that 3 of you
Aw yeaaa!
Nice!! I like it a lot
Awesome video! But you should play it at the end! Btw how would you remove tarnish on a very old instrument?
If a brass instrument hasn’t been cleaned in a while, you will need a chemical clean “chem clean” ask your local music shop they should be able to do it
Blue train!
You should make a tik tok
Nice
I liked your humor about spilling your milk! I appreciate you taking the time to show us how to clean a bass horn!
Very nice! This deserves so many more views!
Love the fusion stuff Edit: also what's the name of the band
Yes sirr!!!!!
Looking good homie 😉😎
That's flippin awesome!
What lubricant do u use on slides?
Bach tuning slide grease (red bottle)
Thanks for this. I find that putting an old towel in the bottom of the bath/basin stops any scratching of tuba or bathtub.
man, great playing, but what REALLY makes this a great video is your two section colleagues dropping in at the very beginning.
One thing about playing a tenor is to not move around much. That creates the image that you are creating momentum. Doc Cheatham was an expert at this when he played trumpet. I can not watch NEWK play b/c he moves around too much like a rock and roll player and he loses that effect. But of course, I can listen to him just not watch him.
An impossible question to answer perhaps, but how much practice time can a senior citizen put in who is returning to brass playing after many years of not playing? I want to build up my lip, but I don't want to damage my lip in the process. My instrument is euphonium, and intuitively it seems I can do 1 to 1 1/2 hour per day broken into multiple sessions, and my lip is tired but not over-tired at the end of the day. If I push harder/longer my lip feels like I may be pushing it too much. I would really like to work it up to the 1 1/2 to 2 hour range. Any suggestions? By the way, this evening I watched a zoom presentation on Buddhism. The presenter was a violin player at a major orchestra. I asked him how Buddhism affected his playing, and he had an interesting recommendation, which was to "play with joy."
that's really cool! I guess its up to you... my friend who is retired practices a lot but that's because he has a lot of time on his hands. you can practice euphonium longer if you practice fundamentals first (i.e. brass gym sam pilafian/ pat Sheridan) identify your goals and work in a positive way, you got it! thanks for the message
Totally agree! It’s more about the long game. And better to compare yourself to yourself yesterday, than the people around you. Great video! 😁
