Fool's Gold - Sim Selections April '22 (strobe warning)
Переглядів 732 роки тому
Sim Selections is a monthly songwriting challenge on Benn Jordan's Discord. This is my submission for April '22. The prompt was: Theme: Fool's Gold Keywords: metamorphic, insane Optional Challenge: Use one note for the entire song, or use only rhythm/percussion. I used Bitwig and placed a single note on each track in the piano roll to trigger the Grid which does everything else.

I've been skipping these past couple of days because the whole thing became too exhausting. But it's the weekend now so here we go again!

Counting this as yesterday's entry since I did all the music then but couldn't get the video and publishing done.

Decided to play something live on the Linnstrument today. Also using the newly released Equator 2 (but I think it's an Equator 1 preset)

Nice!
Nice integration! I didn't even know about this remote parameter section for devices. Should try and build one of these some time 🤔
Love this. I can't believe how hard it is to find some features in Midi controllers. I assume the hi-res can only be utilized by certain hardware and apps? Is there any way to enable Hi-res on hardware, such as the Roland JD-Xi?
Hey ambidex, thanks! I don't have a lot of hardware anymore but I have never come across anything that would receive 14bit CCs. I'm afraid this is only really usable with software right now. I know that Bitwig, Logic and Ableton live can do it.
need to add two touch-sensitive pitch and modulation controls on the left + two jacks for expression pedals. Then this controller will close all the gaps of modern controllers.
I don't have any of these features on my agenda buuut I think my next project is going to be a take on expression pedals.
@@gerohector I agree everything is individual. However, when you have sensel morph, erae touch, launchpad, roli lumi keys and so on.. It is not possible to have a place on the table for a full-size keyboard just for the sake of pitch adjustment and modulation. At the same time, most vsti have pre-programmed presets for these features (modulation especially). Having only modern controllers, we get limitations. But even if you buy a +-normal standard midi keyboard, there will be no connector for the expression pedal. This is the second limitation. As a result, you have a whole set of "crutches and adapters" and I would like to close these gaps with just one device. In order to select not several midi sources in the list more often, but one =) Is this hardware from your cool project enough to add 4 adjustments? pb, mod, ep1 ep2? At least theoretically?
Been looking for such a controller for ages to replace my old, bulky and inaccurate BCR2000. Thanks, great job!
Subscribed. Good luck with the PCB version, hopefully with 3535 sized RGB leds.
Nice!!
👍
Sick music too
Hell yeah man, looks great.
nice one! 🔥
Geeeeero let’s go 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks for sharing! - do you find a flawless portable way to connect iPad with AUM to manage Deluge? - a wish it’s can be work all way around…and how is quanta is? - it not crushing from AUM?
Sorry to disappoint but I haven't found a good and easy way. That DIY interface worked pretty well but it was still a big hassle with all the wires. I've since sold the Deluge and am no longer using the iPad for music. Back to all Mac for me.
Love it
That's brilliant
Short, but very lively. I like it. I feel like you could make an extended version of this quite easily, turn it into a fleshed-out track.
Aw man that Rhodes/chorus'd guitar combo got to me, I love this, this is good
Feels very Daft Punk-inspired with the vocoder in there, but you're using it more as texture than actual lead vocal, which is pretty cool.
D. 🤨
Very funk. Much groove.
Dude. Woah. This is really good.
I love the very chill vibe going on, especially the vibrato on that lead.
This is lovely. Acoustic samples with that touch of bitcrush is wonderful.
CAVE STORY!!! Aw man I haven't played that game in YEARS! So much fun! The piece involved here feels like it could easily fit inside the Cave Story OST, nicely done.
Oh, this is fun, in that weird sort of odd kind of way, given the slight warbly detune on the chords. Love those drums, too.
This freaking blew me away. Very nicely done. Very very nicely done.
Wait did you manage to automate the LED strip? Is that how you got that section of the visuals? Because if so, that's awesome.
Play that fungi music, white cap? Eh? No? ...alright, I'll see myself out...
Like if you're still listening to this in 2020!
Oooh, blinky lights! yay 😜
Very cool. Nice song. I have been trying to find a good workflow with my deluge and iPad so this is very inspiring.
Hey Mr Fork, thanks! I will write up what I did with the Teensy connector thing. Not sure if I'm gonna do a video on it but I can reply again here if you're interested once I'm done.
@@gerohector I was wondering how you were doing audio and midi with a single connection. That makes more sense. What are you using to record all your audio output?
@@snakenose1 I'm was using the Zoom H6 for recording but thinking about it now, there's no reason why I couldn't use the iPad or the Deluge's resampling feature
Very nice 👍
Thanks Rob :-)
Nice work👍
thats some amazing stuff there . fits perfectly
atmosphere and lightshow on point
Nice👍
Nice vibe 👍
Nice sounds. I'm considering picking up a zoia to compliment my deluge.
Thanks! I'm really happy with the Zoia but I think for the Deluge I'm going to get a Korg nts-1 to use as an effects unit. The Zoia is a better fit for my “wired” setup.
@@gerohector okay i thought it was nice to use zoia for it effects on the deluge but i was a little between buying zoia and mod-duo-x is zoia not as nice as fx gear for deluge ? do you think I would enjoy more mod-dou-x ?
@@lofigoodguy5873 Ok, a couple of things: I am very happy with both the Zoia and the Deluge. The reason why I don't use them together regularly is because the Zoia is a bit too big and heavy for a mobile setup and the cable setup is a bit too much. Secondly, the Deluge doesn't have a send/return and using it with FX the way I do is more of a hack. I don't think I would buy an expensive FX unit just for using it with the Deluge. Thirdly I have never used a Mod Duo but I did play around with the Blokas MODEP on a Raspberry Pi. I'm a big fan of open source software; but for me, the quality of the effects didn't even come close to the Zoia.
Did you figure out a way of affecting select tracks instead of the whole output? I tried using channels (left for effect / right for bypass) but there is seems to be some ducking and crossover with that technique.
Hey Stephen, I haven't tried that at all for now. My workflow with the Zoia so far has been to solo a track, pass the Deluge's output into the Zoia, then back into the line in and record the result on a new kit track. It's important that monitoring is turned off so it doesn't feed back. Using hard panning should probably work but maybe there are some things like reverb that bleed onto the other channel? I'll let you know if I find anything out once I've tried it.
Nice! Sub'd and Bell'd and all that! I'm #66 😊
This song simply made me very happy. You did a wonderful job creating such a bright and cheerful mood.
Reading this made me very happy in turn :-) Thanks!
Very nice
Nice work.
Nice!
