Replacing the head gasket on my very high mileage 2009 Toyota Prius. Easy and cheap DIY.
Переглядів 12114 годин тому
Replacing the head gasket on my 426k miles is not really a difficult job. It's time consuming since I have to do it very slow and trying to arrange the parts where they should go. Lots of bolts, brackets and wiring to move around. The head gasket, new bolts and washer and water pump gasket are all $49 (shipping included) from RockAuto. If this fails a replacement motor will be in the future pla...
426k miles Prius overheating because of a small head gasket leak got worse when pressure testing

The issue is that the head gasket leak is a small one, it will take several trips to accumulate combustion gases in the coolant and initial tests showed no head gasket symptoms. No white smoke at the tail pipe, no misfire in the morning.. just coolant loss over time and coolant not going back into the radiator from the reservoir. blown head gasket symptoms on a Prius

    So just pulling random fuses and wires....a lot of "I don't knows" going on. Maybe you should "know " what you're doing and maybe your car wouldn't be breaking down. This Def is a "user malfunction " rather than a mechanical one. Ignorance is bliss.

    Does the car vibrate? Mine something weird happed..I know i had to change my bad front struts but i didn't. I was driving slow and hit a bad uneven street surface on nyc then my car suddenly drives different. Its like i have a muffler job done on my car i can feel every vibration from the engine. When i press gas its not as smooth and powerful as it used to be. Its driving as if its almost in safe mode. No regular mechanic can find the issue or see an issue. Few days late i get code 2A31 i just clear it with my protool and comes back a week or so later. Last time i cleared it was last week and still driving daily since. No issues with start except now that after hitting this pothole i feel as if i have a loud muffler installed. I dont lol This has been since a month ago. I also have code 2A00 comes every other day. I don't know any good mechanic. What do you think the vibration and losing some power but still driving only you notice it while on slow driving or stop and go

    Definitely don't understand how you can get the proper level set. Did you have the front of the car elevated? Doubt it was level if you can crawl underneath with the rear wheels on the ground. Fluid needs to be at the proper temperature, but the car also needs to be LEVEL. You likely don't have the proper amount of fluid in there.

      there's enough room to screw back the small torx bolt in the pan. You don't need to elevate the front. I use a scan tool to check the trans temp. PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO COMPLETELY BEFORE COMMENTING!

      @@highmilesgarage9131 So I want to ask you a question. I need to add some fluid because it seems low on fluid and it has 160k miles on it and I have no idea if it has had any oil change before, therefore, I prefer not to change the entire oil and just add some. How would I know if I got the correct level? With only the temperature? Thanks.

    • @highmilesgarage9131
      @highmilesgarage9131 Місяць тому

      @@mohamedessam6891 you need a scan tool that show the ATF temperature or the handheld temperature device from Harbor Freight. Let the vehicle run while parked until the ATF temp is 50 C and. 60 C then remove the small torx bolt under the transmission pan.. if it's not dripping (small drip) then you're low, need to add..
