This channel is dedicated to helping anyone who wants to increase their knowledge and working skill in the use of Linux specifically in association with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) variants - RHEL, CentOS, ALMA Linux, and Rocky Linux.
If you are wanting to get away from MS Windows operating systems and want to try a cool alternative, Linux is the way to go. There are many variants of Linux but this is my personal favorite branch of Linux operating systems.
If you want to develop some Linux skills for the work environment and perhaps up your game to impress your boss to take on a new role as a Linux lead engineer, develop your skill as a Linux engineer, or develop your skill as a lead and share in the knowledge. My intent is to make this channel very focused on RHEL variants and help people learn what they need.

Admin@LearnRHEL - Int.009 - Using hostnamectl
Target Audience: #Linux Users and Linux Engineers of #RedHat variants (#RHEL, #CentOS, #ALMALinux, and now #RockyLinux).
Subject: Using hostnamectl to its full potential.
Details: Hostnamectl is a very powerful and diverse tool. It can perform: the obvious renaming of your host; and alter other fields of interest about the host such as icon-name (which may be of some use), chassis (which may or may not be useful depending on its application to your needs), location (which can be useful to imply geo-location or office-location),and deployment (implying “environment type”).
If you have constructive criticism for me on my channel, this playlist, or this video content, please drop me a message.

Good info thanks
Thank you soooooo much for this.
You are so welcome!
Horrible. It didn't show how to add wiki on repo.
Jump to 6:27 and watch from there. Or maybe clarify what you mean because I do demonstrate how to add (create) a wiki.
This is so great! Keep it UP! But i couldn't locate the link to the markdown syntax you talked about at the beginning of the video. Thanks.
Hi @Christiannwosu8996 did you go to this page= "gitlab.com/warronf/learning-about-wikis" and then click on the link "Markdown Syntax Guide" in the section at the bottom of the page?
can a project be restored if it is not in pending deletion?
I do not have an answer for you presently. I need to rebuild my "studio" as it relates to the Gitlab environment to determine an answer for you. But right now I do not have a proper answer for you and do not want to mislead you. Sorry for the delay.
ok (goodmdds)
What does (goodmdds) mean? I tried to look that up. Thanks for the positive feedback though.
thanks!
You are welcome. I am glad there was enough audio loudness for your to accomplish your task. I am reworking many of the videos on my channel due to the lack of loudness and have not even started on the Gitlab-associated videos yet. Those will come in due time. Glad this worked for you though!😃
can you do this without being the root user? my changes don't seem to be showing
No, as this is a matter of system security you really want to create the aide.db.new.gz, and then rename/move it to aide.db.gz with ownership as root:root and limit the MODE to 0600 (-rw-------). You can generate the aide DB using the command "sudo aide --init" but remember to move the file to drop the "new" part, as I indicate above.
Please could you possibly create a video regarding 'audit' and it's use with aide? Many thanks!
Yes, absolutely! That is a topic I intend to cover in depth for the sake of configuration and then maybe an alternate playlist for how to review audit logs at some point as well. Thank you for your request.
Many many thanks!
Can't we delete an issue ?
Audio is not good, I'm using the legends... 😐
Thanks Everton, I am aware and am going to be reworking many of my videos that have a problem with audio loudness. I will be deleting and rebuilding the video profiles and so on very soon.
@@learnrhel8291 great! I think you don't need to delete the videos. To preserve the views in your videos, you can just remake the audio and edit the videos... 😃
@@tomsys What do you mean? How do I do that?
@tomsys I have not updated these videos yet, but I hear them loud and clear now. Can you confirm, please?
I think is better now. Thanks! @@learnrhel8291
that's how to CLOSE issues not DELETE issues, thank you
@jia j, thanks for your feedback! I will rename the video and all of the UA-cam Tags to match. Thanks again.
I have updated the title of the video. I sincerely appreciate your feedback.
too quiet(
Сергей (Sorry, I am not fluent in Russian, but I have been slowly learning how to read it. Very slowly.) Anyway, thank you for the feedback about the volume issues. I am not sure why the audio quality has suffered, but I have learned of it from another source and now I am wondering if I have to remake the videos. Or perhaps store them locally and respost at another time. Can you point out (drop a comment) on the specific videos for me where the audio quality has suffered, please? Спасево (Hopefully I spelled that correctly.)
@@learnrhel8291 Handbrake > Open Source > Select File > Audio > Track List > Edit Icon > Gain > Speaker Icon > Increase the slider > Save > Start
@brutikpunk can you please confirm the audio loudness is better on these videos. I recently checked on a few and found them loud enough to listen to an another user provided affirmative (confirming) feedback as well. Thank you.
dont working :(
@Rek Tay, sorry to hear that it is not working for you. There are a few steps in the process. Do you have an already tagged release of a git repository? At which step are you starting to have difficulties? What is the error you are getting as a result of which exact command? I would like to help you.
Did you eventually figure out the process?
I enjoy the videos. Keep em coming! Doug McCoy @Mantech
Thanks, will do!
How do you install ALMALinux 8 using the Minimal ISO?
I will see if I can make a video. It should be easy.
This does not cover the details about the /etc/aide.conf very deeply.
Yes, this is true. It was not meant to get too in depth, just cover basic configuration to run.
