I make music and sounds under the monikers Noctopolis (noctopolis.bandcamp.com) and Mattis Hencke (mattishencke.bandcamp.com). Snippets of music also to be found at Instagram: @mattishencke. Recently I’ve been delving into the Ciat-Lonbarde sound universe which has captivated me quite a bit. Most jams on here are based mostly on C-K instruments as well as the Lyra 8, the Koma Fieldkit stuff and various other instruments. I’m more into texture than technique and more into emotion than electronic specifics. If you like what I do, subscribe!
Whispers and Clicks: Ciat-Lonbarde Quatrax with UltraDubeRolzer and the family
Still fascinated by the Quatrax I´m just trying stuff and finding my way among the barres here - there´s not much of a theme but I like quite a few of the intervals and combinations from the different parts of the C-L family. If you bear with the navel gazing the cat´s hair decorated hoodie might still be the last straw ... oh well.

Ciat-Lonbarde Quatrax: Unpatched & serene (with Deerhorn, Sidrax & Soma Cosmos)

So this is probably as "vanilla" the playing of Ciat-Lonbarde organs get, but sometimes you just want to let the barres and bellows sing for themselves with some slight internal modulation and Cosmos looping. Ciat-Lonbarde Quatrax & Soma Cosmos - getting to know each other

File this under the section "sounds only a mother (or a newbie Quatrax player) could love. The Ciat-Lonbarde Quatrax organ is quite the handful of oscillators and I suspect making music with it will be a quest of its own. But, baby steps and all that. Soma Cosmos is the mediator between me and this big brother of the CL -axes. Listen to something more accessible and pleasant: noctopolis.bandcam...
Rigid but elastic: Rhythms with Lorre Mill Double Knots & Ciat-Lonbarde Peterlin

A semi-improvised session with the Lorre Mill Double Knot 2 and Double Knot 3 plus Ciat-Lonbarde Peterlin. This trio surprised me a few times during the short jam. Hope there are some enjoyable moments. New Noctopolis single: noctopolis.bandcamp.com/album/horn-of-the-evening-single

Nothing fancy, just noodling about with the C-L family in a quite meditative way.

UltraDubeRolzer - fanfare for a fabulous drone machine
Переглядів 3755 місяців тому
My first encounters with the UltraDubeRolzer mostly made me scratch my head and wonder what I´d got myself into, but then I paired it with the Ciat-Lonbarde Sidrax organ and things took a different and most welcome turn - the UDR turned out to be a fabulous drone machine! I just vaguely know what I´m doing here but there is crossmodulation going on between the Sidrax, the Duber filters (soundin...

It started with birdsong-like loops in the Coco buffers and from then on I just ... tried things. Pretty organic and as always plenty of flaws. Find my music here: noctopolis.bandcamp.com/
Family Therapy: Another session with Plumbutter, Peterlin, Tetrax, Sidrax, Deerhorn and Coco

Trying stuff with the Ciat-Lonbarde setup. A few sections turned out pretty good. A few others could be accurately described as fumbling around. Peterlin mostly out of shot but providing the backbone, Deerhorn as a tonal haze in the background. And on top of that the usual suspects. To hear more evolved music, visit noctopolis.bandcamp.com/ . Take care.

Ciat-Lonbarde Plumbutter, Tetrax & Sidrax: Alien Music with the Palmelund Ampel
Переглядів 1908 місяців тому
Here´s a probably too long take with the Palmelund ampel sequencing and modulating the Ciat-Lonbarde instruments in various ways. Totally atonal but from time to time there is some kind of slinky groove and coherence going on ... maybe. Best bit among all the indulgence is probably around 3.00-4.00 minutes. Check out noctopolis.bandcamp.com/
Snowflakes: Ciat-Lonbarde Sidrax, Cocoquantus, Plumbutter & Deerhorn with Lorre Mill Double Knot 3

A simple jam session with the LM DK3 providing the percussion & clock for the Cocoquantus wheezy loops and the Deerhorn bellows on both the DH organ and Plumbutter tuned in chords. Some Gongue and AV dog droning in the background and indeed some very sloppy playing here and there. Take care! Listen and support at noctopolis.bandcamp.com/

Excerpt from a session with the Sidrax and Tetrax organs, focusing on their brassier tone colours. Chord progressions through a Ditto looper, Glitchy harmonics via Cocoquantus and some Ultrasound and AV dog backdrop from Plumbutter. Plus the occasional Deerhorn gesture. Take care! A meditative session where the Palmelund Synthesizers Ampel clocks the Deerhorn arpeggio, sequences the Plumbutter Gongues, Snare and Ultrasound and sends a cv pitch modulation to the AV Dogs. Tetrax & Sidrax cross modulating. Find & support my music here: noctopolis.bandcamp.com/
First session with Palmelund Ampel, Ciat-Lonbarde Sidrax & Ciat-Lonbarde Deerhorn

Just a minute of my first session with the Palmelund Ampel, a cv- and gate controller for banana synths which I think will breathe a lot of new life in my Ciat-Lonbarde setup. Just two of the modules used here, but it seems like a very musical thing. And a beauty, too! Studio beaver keeping things in order, obviously.

nice texture!
@@ttnowas Glad you enjoy it!
Without a doubt the most beautiful piece produced with a CL instrument I've ever heard!
@@PetrikovPhotonics Wow, that’s some review :-) . Thank you, I’m happy you enjoy it!
great!
@@DJ-Lazy-Lodger Thank you!
Always great 👍
@@Gonzophysicist82 Thank you!
This is hauntingly beautiful. Have listened to it many times already.
Thank you so much! These words mean a lot to me, coming from someone whose work I really enjoy and admire.
@@noctopolismusic461 I am so humbled by that! Thank you. I'm such a fan of your music.
@ ❤️ talk about humbled :-) . And inspired - just caught a glimpse of you playing two Lyras. Wow.
Thanks bro!
Meisterwerk! Not easy to combine these textures in a musically meaningful way, and you excelled here.
@@JureJerebic Thank you, glad you like it! I felt I sort of just meandered about but the Quatrax’ possibility for several chords is pretty great.
Very nice!
@@gjgjhgddddhjhgg Thanks!
One of the very best improvised ciat pieces I’ve heard in quite some time! Beautiful! For sure my favorite Quatrax piece so far, great work!
@@andrew_w_allison oh, thank you! I’m happy to hear that.
3:07 fantastic rhythmic flurries. ❤ funky AF 🔥
@@justinhuffman2430 Thank you!
Really beautiful piece! I look forward to see more videos of you playing this huge axe.
@@Hildrafon Thanks! Yes, huge :) . The extra glitch inputs definitely add flavor but I’m a bit surprised how much more complex it is to play it just because the amount of oscillators/barres. This will be interesting.
@@noctopolismusic461 I did't even notice the extra glitch inputs. It's really cool that Tetrax, sidrax and Quadrax are all different and not just a small, medium and large version of the same instrument
@@Hildrafon Definitely! One QuickTime thing is that the pitch sliders seem to work differently for different timbres on the Quatrax. It’s absolutely something else.
@@noctopolismusic461 Interesting!
Quatrax is quite the beast! I find I rarely use more than a couple bars when I manage to produce anything musical, but pushing some of them down into LFO rate and using them as modulation sources can help me feel like I'm closer to using the whole instrument.
@@BenJohnson-m3x thanks for the tip! I agree, the amount of barres makes it very different from the other organs. A bit intimidating and intriguing at the same time.
awesome combo
@@jfracine_composition it is. So far it seems like the Quatrax really needs well chosen partners to play along with.
sooooo beautiful

Very nice! 🤎

Ridiculous good. I guess I already left a comment here. Playing drums to this now
Thanks. Keep drumming! 😊
This is a particularly good one! I’m not super huge on overly tonal synth music, the best part about synths is removing all restraints from creativity… This is great tho
@@SS_Psyops Thanks, glad you enjoy it!
@@noctopolismusic461 for sure, I like your work.
this is getting me very excited for when my Enner is supposed to arrive! Two more days!!

awesome soundscape!
@@adamdb94 thank you!
Dette er noe av det vakreste jeg har hørt ❤
Åh, tack! Det värmer att höra att du tycker om musiken. ❤
Real music! So often people play around on Ciat Lonbarde without actually trying to compose something (and good for them, no shade). But cheers to you for putting in the extra effort to build this track. Beautiful!
Thanks, kind words indeed. So glad you appreciate the music!
Hello. This is not a complete in-depth demo. It would be a good idea to connect a synth from the outside, and secondly use this small socket on the top left, and thirdly disconnect the instrument in the background that is playing. This is not sound from Enner.
@@Komendarek Hello. No, it’s not an in-depth demo, it’s a first session clip with external fx (but you know that since you read the description, right?). My channel is just for making sounds which I like, in a way that I like. There are lots of good and real in-depth demos on other channels though. Cheers!
New Noctopolis is always appreciated! Always zooming in to trace out your patches and see how you get these sounds.
@@BenJohnson000 wow, and likewise, Ben! Then you’ve probably discovered those patches aren’t exactly complicated :-D
Awesome stuff.

I've totally fallen in love with Ciat-Lonbarde instruments! Two Peterlins in hand and a Shbobo Shnth on the way!
Yes, they’re really something special. Fun times ahead then!
@@noctopolismusic461 It was a tough decision - Perfect Circuit has a used Deerhorn for half the price of a new one. But I'm a digital synth nerd and into just intonation and so I went for the Shnth.
❤
Wonderful, I love the change of tone around 4.10, I don't really know how to describe it; somehow, the stakes were raised!
Thanks, I’m happy that you listen and that you enjoy the mood/sounds!
Really digging this. That little loop that starts around 4:30 adds such a nice texture.
I can’t tell if those occasional “ping and clicks” are coming from tetrax or just triggered by it, but those are really nice too.
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoy it!
I think those sounds is the Plumbutter Ultrasound triggered by two of the rollz.
magic
Thanks, glad you enjoy it!
im not sure what is going on, but is is wonderful :)
Thank you, that makes two of us, kind of :-)
Beautiful! I love it.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy the sounds since this is very much just ”noodling around”.
What’s doing the beautiful chords/pad in the background
Probably chords from the Tetrax through Ditto Looper, halv speed.
