    Thanks, I haven't been able to find any of my few driving friends who could answer this.

    Your gullet measurement was too low and should be at the highest point of the front bars :) also SQHB/QHB is not related to the gullet size and is a measurement of the angle of the bars not the gullet size. ua-cam.com/video/s3f44aoGwr0/v-deo.html

      @hossjudge 2 роки тому

      QHB stands for Quarter Horse bars. The bar measurement is what I showed. 7" between the bars is a full QH The gullet is above the bars and is for wither clearance. The gullet does not touch the horse so it just needs to be wide enough and tall enough for the withers.

      @@hossjudge SQHB and FQHB has nothing to do with gullet size. I have saddles that are SQHB and 7.5in gullet as well as FQHB at 6 1/4 gullet

    I'm from India and need a cart..how can I get it from you?

  • @NataniSpirit1994
    @NataniSpirit1994 4 роки тому

    Thank you for the info. =) I've got a cart that seems to have been built to where the seat would be tilted back when on the horse (the footing is angled down instead of flush) but I'm wanting to put bigger tires on it anyway for my 46" (11.2 hand) gelding. He had already been trained to pull, learned that today (almost 9 months after he was rescued. People refused to tell me what he did), so I'm looking forward to driving him. =) the info you've provided here will help me with our new cart. Thank you.

    i cant tell you how many horseman have no idea how to measure a saddle correctly. thanks a ton for making this video! so far, you are the only one who shows how to measure the western saddle gullet correctly, and English saddle seats. its been a pill trying to find someone who actually knows how to do that. thanks for the video! i have sent it to just about everyone, on many horse websites. i cant thank you enough! its been a real back saver!

      Thanks! I need to update it to explain the bar on the western saddle versus the gullet but I hear ya, That's why I made it, seemed like so much online buying with people who had no idea where to start!

      ya you bet! describing the difference between the bars and a gullet are 2 very different things. same with the twist, and saddle flare, on the bars. its frustrating! i didnt know how an Australian saddle was measured so i was very happy to learn that. so im thankful you made these. i share it with everybody.

    Im looking in buying a new saddle but they say for its gullet its a regular what does this mean and what size would it be?

    • @hossjudge
      @hossjudge 11 років тому

      In a western saddle, the gullet is the round, arch-shaped piece in the front that the horn sits on. It is more important to know what the bar size is (semi, full, draft, etc.) If it's an english saddle the tree size is generally referred to reg, wide, x-wide, etc. Measuring an english saddle is more difficult as there are many variables. Send an e-mail with more info (saddle type, where was it measured, etc.) and I'll help you out. griffinbrook@aol.com

    Okay, so I am a 16 in a English saddle, which equals a 17 in an Australian stock, or a 15 in a western. Could you just verify that is correct please?

    The dressage saddle is measured from the head button to the middle of the seat, diagonally. The Aussie is measured from the stitch line at the front of the pomel to the swell of the cantle in a straight line.
