Переглядів 69Рік тому
The Annual Benefit Auction is Pocosin's main fundraiser of the year. Many hands go into making this event a success, from the artists who donate their work, to participants on-campus and online, and our sponsors who help make it an event to remember. Funds raised for the "Fund-A-Need" support a new endowment to help secure the future of the school. Other funds raised go towards scholarships and...

wonderful, thanks for sharing knowledge 🙏🏽
We're glad you liked the video!
Whatever machine is running in the background is getting getting annoying.
Do you find using an electric tool in water just a bit scary?
Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
ce joli
I've been slowly gathering my equipment to start. It was nice to have a good view of your workshop. I could see the different elements I already have and what will be on my bucket list.
A great tutorial thank you for sharing this
What bits do you use and what is your supply source.
That is a jewelers saw and when you tension just loosen the top thumb screw and put your saw in place and hold it taught with one hand and tighten the top thumb screw and that will tension your wire saw. Nice video and demo and THANK YOU!!
copper soft tubing would be better and easier to work with.
I can't hear you.
Nice Video! Can you drill a hole into a fire agate like this?
Great video Molly - I'm good at drilling 1mm, 2mm, 3mm holes in gem stones but I am having trouble drilling a 3/4" hole on gem stones that are about 2 to 2.5" in diameter and 5/16" thick - the stones keep breaking - any ideas or instructions - thx.
Thank you and just in time for fall!❤
Neat! Thanks for sharing this technique!
I have very successfully drilled a 6mm hole in a beach pebble using a glass/tile drill in a pillar drill by making a doughnut shaped ring from modelling clay (plasticine),sticking it to the pebble and filling it with water. It cuts through much more quickly than your method and can cope with some very hard pebbles. However, a very interesting video. Thank you.
That sounds awesome. Wish you could do a vid on that 😃
Just wanted to come back and let you know I tried your technique with the clay and it worked PERFECTLY! Awesome tip and I appreciate you so much!❤
Glad to be of help 😃@@MariaWalker-qo3vi
Did you use the nondrying clay or drying clay?
@@jakibros The soft, non-setting clay. It's trade name is 'plasticine' in the UK and is very inexpensive
Can you get the camera any further away
Well done. Thank you.
this is a horrendously dangerous practice, and an express ticket to silicosis. only drill/cut stone when wet with flowing water, stone dust is stupidly bad for your lungs.
The stone is underwater.
Thank you for this video!
Beautiful! You make it look easy and effortless! Thank you for this!❤
Beautiful file work!
would have been nice the have the camera above you to see what your doing as I learn better by seeing what your doing...explain is good but I need to see the work.
Subaru
Exactly the information I need right now. Especially the glasses information was also very useful. Thanks for the detailed and informative video.
Excellent! Thank you for showing your work of art
Never heard of zooming in?
Please explain your piece of leather and the holes you put in. 2 layers of leather? How do you remove the leather when hammering so does not get stuck under the river?
Good info but need better audio and camera close up shots
Excellent video and a fantastic book highly recommend to everyone.
I love you molly sharp!!
thank you we got the point 👍🏼👍🏼
this tutorial is EXACTLY what i'm trying to do & has a wealth of info dispensed by someone who is OBVIOUSLY a world class teacher; unfortunately (& you just KNOW what i'm going to say), WE CAN'T REALLY SEE ANYTHING CLEARLY. PLEASE get a videographer who can zoom in & out etc. as need be. also you should apprise the viewer of the level of skill set required for this; NOT a beginner's project unless they actually KNOW what a 'bench pin' or a 'jewelers' saw (it just looks like an ordinary COPING saw, or what's involved in 'annealing'... i think you get my point. thank you nonetheless; it answered quite a few of MY questions. 🙏🏼🙏🏾
I would have liked to see the stone while you were drilling
Find the centre of a rectangle by two lines corner to corner, where they cross is the centre.
idk that i'd do a pebble but i can see myself doing this to other things, it would work for many other applications, it was interesting and i watched the entire video, thank you!
Hi, I would like to ask how to drill holes in quartz in bulk quantity manufacturing without hand drilling holes
Thank you for the beautiful video
Excellent video but it was hard to see details of what was being done.
Thank you, you are an excellent teacher. You talked about each thing to consider as you worked, which is so important. Unfortunate that your videographer didn’t come in closer. Next time perhaps. I appreciate these tips nonetheless- I have some experience so not as important as if I were watching as a novice.
Thanks, Donna, we are glad you enjoyed the video. You might also enjoy some of our virtual workshops pocosinarts.org/pocosinartsonline/
Thanks for sharing this video. I found it very helpful.
Glad you enjoyed it. Sharon is a great teacher!
Start video with as it currently is then the rest just close up from your perspective so we can see what your doing . Great instructions

You don't show close ups.
Thank you, you have given me the confidence to attempt this for a makers mark stamp.
Hi David, let us know how it turns out!
Why aren’t you using the drill press behind you with the flex shaft to drill the rock. It looks like a Foredom press designed for the flex shaft. Because of the water setup?
I am guessing because not many people have that piece of equipment and she is trying to show common, ordinary folks like me how to do it.
Frank has a gift. I watched this beautiful Grandmother's Chest grow from a fallen tree to become a functioning work of art. You are a special artist and craftsman, not to mention a great teacher for me. Bill A.
As always, gorgeous and comes from a place of creativity and a loving heart. That's my daddy! I love you, Dad!
Wish there was a close up or picture of anything.cool tho.
Thank you for this video. A few years ago I. decided to drill a hole into a pebble I picked up one a beach in Greece and put a gold (it was affordable at that time) piece of tubing in the stone. It was successful although I sure wish I had seen your video first!
Agree, would be nice to see what your doing. Also what size flare tool are you using?
