Cleaning up the maple tree
Переглядів 5619 годин тому
All trees need a bit of clean up and the best time is in the fall when there is no sap flowing. These branches coming down will open up some sun for the vegetable garden and for the new flower garden where the chicken coop was. #lumberjacks #urbanhomestead #cleanup #husqvarna
Backyard clean up, garlic planting and more seed saving!
Переглядів 3619 годин тому
Fall has definitely arrived... cleaning up the backyard, getting the chance to plant garlic and some more seed saving. This time beans are saved and some flowers. I planted about 40 less garlic then I did last year, however I still planted 4 different types of hard neck garlic. #urbanhomestead #gardening #garlic #savingseeds
It's a take down of the chicken coop
Переглядів 11514 днів тому
7 years of chickens and the last ones are off to a friends farm! Cecil made the chicken coop from an idea in his head. The board that we covered the coop with came from an old farm in the area. So, the boards were probably about 100 years old. Further expansion and a fix to the door were the final updates he did. More great adventures to come and I'm sure chickens are going to be in the future ...
Sault Ste Marie Ontario and Michigan Weekend of Fall colours
Переглядів 3514 днів тому
Wow what a weekend! It was a long drive, 16.5 hours roundtrip, however so worth it. Can you believe that it was 27 degrees Celsius on October 22?? The colours were amazing and the video and photos don't do them justice. Definitely love these great adventure weekends! #fallcolours #northernontario #northernmichigan #weekendgetaway
Sauerkraut experiment
Переглядів 4314 днів тому
Let's do some experimenting! That's always fun isn't it? Sometimes it doesn't turn out like you thought, sometimes it's great. I wanted to start fermenting veggies and such and thought I would start with straight sauerkraut - just cabbage and salt, fermented for a couple of weeks. The process is simple it seems, as it just takes time. Help with the recipe came from: www.thepioneerwoman.com/food...
Kabocha Squash
Переглядів 3621 день тому
Ahhh fall! It has been such a beautiful fall so far, warm weather and sun! This is the first time I've made kabocha squash and I really liked it. I rubbed each piece with a mixture made of avocado oil, cayenne pepper, maple syrup, ground cumin, salt and pepper. I saved some of the seeds to plant a couple next spring. I love saving seeds and often I will grab various flowers when I get a chance....
Apple Butter Jam

Apple butter with cardamon, such a unique flavour profile. Again an easy recipe it just takes time to thicken. Think of it as one step past applesauce! heartbeetkitchen.com/best-homemade-apple-butter-canning/ #urbanhomestead #apples #applebutter #canningandpreserving #thatsitforcanningfruit
Apple Pie Filling : Autumn in a jar
Переглядів 13128 днів тому
How do you say "Autumn in a jar"? Apple pie filling is how you do it! There are so many things other than apple pie that you can use this for! The smell in my kitchen while this is cooking is so delicious it reminds me of the scratch and sniff paper. I've got 12 jars made and a few in the pantry left from last year so this will do me until next fall. It's so convenient to grab a jar and just ad...

Hi! I just now stumbled over your channel. I haven't made chicken pot pie in ages, so thank you for the reminder! I enjoy watching other cooks make dishes that I also make. I always pick up a little something from others.
Excellent and thank you for watching! I hope that you subscribe for future videos.
i wish to enjoy squash because it looks so awesome however i hate it
there are so many different types of squash with so many different flavours - example, with butternut squash you can add cranberries and feta cheese while it cooks. You can add various spices or just butter to some. Acorn squash is good with brown sugar and butter while baking.
would have loved a printed recipe!
If I use recipes from the internet the sites are put in the show notes. I'll provide it here for you too www.stetted.com/apple-pie-filling/#recipe
Like the bloopers
I can't believe I did that LOL, well after not using the peeler for a year I guess you forget haha, glad you enjoyed them

Outstanding video, new friend here.
thanks for subscribing!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed watching you cook and the food looks so delicious
Thank you so much
how spicy do they end up
you can adjust the spice - add less or different not so spicy powder
I was just thinking - you don't need to add any of the chili spice if you want. Then they are just pickled beans.
@@PowerRidgeHomestead-pe6op i love spicy stuff, but did urs turn out very spicy with that amount?
u might not know yet i guess
Yeah not sure on these specific ones, because we have to wait the week at least.
You have a wonderful garden

hello power ridge homestead
Hello there!
How in hell can you work hygienically in such a mess.
few countertops and all spaces get washed down once everything is in the oven
Crucified that poor turkey .😢
and it sure tasted great!
Awesome , great description of an easy to follow recipe great video. Hope you have an awesome day
Thank you so much 👍
New subscriber, loves my cooked dinner guys Mount Scio Savory definitely best there is , I loves to cook as well got a few cooking videos up with my outdoors stuff lol. Also hit the notifications bell so I won't mess future videos have a great weekend guys .
Awesome! Thank you!
11:23 Wow, you need to rinse your turkey out and dry it before you stuff it,I have never seen so much contamination in a kitchen in my life
My way of cooking, and everything gets a good wash once food is in the oven.
Time to move them 😊
done!
Looks yumm. What is the home made gravey mix thats premade?
TRIO is the brand name. I have seen turkey, chicken and beef mixes
Great looking garden.
Thank you kindly, I'd love to see your garden!
Looks yummy !!!
Thank you 😋
Watch out that purple butterly bush grows up to 6 ft ...if not prunned goes out of control, the seeds gets everywhere and its a fast growing one...I have them in the last house we live in, and based on my experience beside a sidewalk or walkway are not the best places for it, if any it will add more work to your garden keeping list. If you can Place it in a spot, it can grow to all its splendor, they come in pink and white too... they are a must in a butterfly garden.
Thank you for the info! I'll keep it trimmed so we are still able to see the other flowers around it. I found the same with the rose of sharon - seedlings everywhere and if you don't pull as they start it's harder with their little tap roots.
We used to go for a walk and pick buckets and buckets of blackberries and make cobbler and while it was baking I taught the young ones to churn ice cream. I hope they remember now that they are older.
check out my latest video to see how my blackberries are doing. So looking forward to a cobbler in a few weeks!
He's not wrong! 🙃
A man what loves to work to help keep people warm! That's awesome. Please press your back up against the wall and do some wall squats. Get a medicine ball for your spine host a couple inches below your back. And are there any good chiropractors that can realign you? That way you can keep on. Stay strong and feel better❤ And what a green peaceful area around you! ❤❤❤
thank you for your comments
What is the make and model /price of your rooftop tent? I am on the west coast of Canada.
The tent is an Expedition XL and is from gooverland.ca (Go Overland Canada) We bought ours at a camping show so best to check directly with them for pricing. They are very helpful!
@@PowerRidgeHomestead-pe6op Thank you!
Awesome set up looks great!
I think so too!
Looks yummy Teresa! Thanks for sharing!
After you try the recipe let me know what you think. It is yummy and so easy!
I love making & having cornbread with beans.
I'm going to look for a cornbread recipe to try. I've made it with sour cream in the past
Love your blue color on your cabinet/drawers. I've never seen that type of heavy molasses before. Does it taste better than regular bottled molasses? I buy organic regular bottled organic molasses. I buy organic of everything. Old fashioned.
This type of molasses is all I have ever bought however I bought a bottle when we were in the US the last time so I will have to let you know how they compare.
I always cook & bake from scratch... Was raised that way. I'm a 66 year old senior so I believe in alot of old fashioned things but I'm still pretty cool. Hahaha
Sounds great!
Ty. Just saw this channel & love baked beans. I subscribed & Liked & shared with my 200+ Facebook friends and family so I hope from that you will get more subscribers. Appears that your a new UA-cam creator....???? You will do great....you have a nice mellow voice that makes me feel so relaxed. Ty!
Thank you for your kind words!

Glad you think so!
