DSS Fast in all conditions
Переглядів 3,6 тис.3 роки тому
Today, thanks to DSS foils, it is possible to design and realize boats capable of sailing fast in both light and windy conditions. These boats do not have to be pure racing boats - their performance is scalable. It can be tuned to virtually any requirement in terms of performance or comfort.

At the beginning of the week on the Reschensee (Lago di Resia) still blew a rather rough and pretty fresh norderly breeze, which has not stopped some to go out.

QFX foiled
Переглядів 4,1 тис.4 роки тому
A new boat in its first season. The QFX which is basically a Quant30 that has been enlarged and tuned - symply said. In the light, the foils are completely taken out of the water (low resistance) to be used only when the breeze is stronger. The boat can be sailed in all four modes: Displacement, planing, semi-foiling and full foiling. Only very few boats can do this today. The foils will be ins...

What class of boats are those?
Quant30 from QuantBoats www.quant-boats.com Switzerland
Waszp>>>>>>>>>
What bracket are you using for your speedpuck?
Home made. i wanted one in the centre of the boat - to be able to see the display at any angle while sailing
🔥
SEHR SAUBER
Skeeta 2018 then Sail GP. Just smooth as silk out there, makes it look so easy!
Not much new here, looks like the Kiwi designed by O.H.Rogers many years ago.
Did you see the other clips of QFX with foils. Due tu covid the delivery of the foils have been late, so the first season was used to learn more about the boat. This is a boat like the Quant23 wich is able to sail properly in all 4 known sailingmodes (displacemant, planing, semi-foiling, full-foiling) ua-cam.com/video/VzJOSZkEQNM/v-deo.html
How?
It's easy when you have an outside power source... now add the weight of that power source to the craft itself, then you have a different dynamic...
Sorry but what do you want to tell me with this?
@@2011quant Just an observation - no reply necessary...
So lucky to be able to experience that , amazing boat beautiful scenery
Guys enjoy sailor here myself look like you are having ball
So, basically a 60s scow moth hull on foils & rigged with a modern square top sail.
Ходовые испытания 🇵🇷
Um, what is the point of a scow planing hull on foil when your going to be on foil before the hull even plans? May as well just go minimal displacement mode drag below take off speed.
Music ruined it
Just in case you don't know: there is a switch with which you can fade out the music.... :-)
Hi, there is this being sailed?
Sorry maybe do not understand the question correctly? But it is clear that this is under sail. What else?
I think he means where not there.
@@wilsterr839 ok. thanks, could be. It is on Lake Garda outside Malcesine, Italy
@@2011quant Oh, yes. In fact that is where I was going to be sailing my optimist for the world championships this year. Unfortunately I could not attend because of the country I live in and the travel restrictions.
Nice job guys
camera to bouncy
this is or was the prototype of the Q23. Nobody believed by then, that a keelboat can fly. So it just was important to give the video-proof
Very nice. I would recommend sailing helmets.
Is the Q17 still under development?
I'd love to have one of these boats. Need North American testers? Or to establish a sales team in the states?
Easy enough go melges.com/skeeta-foiling-craft/
'lakeracer' lol, yeap thats definitely sailing
Why arent they sailing tho?
Testing and no wind
Much faster by engine. Next year all America's Cup boats will have them.
@@styx85 hahahaha
To one who started racing scows in the '60s, it looks like a decedent of the Fireball and I see I'm not the only one who thinks so. It ought to sail well foiling or in sub-foiling conditions.
Awesome boat, looks to be a very clever design too.
I'm 1m93 93kg. Is my weight okay for the skeeta 9.5? I'm very interested in these. How do they compare with a waszp 9 or with a second hand moth? They seem amazing. I like the scow design because in Switzerland where I sail the wind can shift and drop quite quickly. How much wind do yo need to fly these, being a bit heavier than the average moth user?
can you send a mail to info@quant-boats.com. i do not answer question like yours on youtube.
What speeds do you get on this ? Nice vid btw
Between 12.5 and 15kts. Wind was pretty light.
Is this a Melgus?
Got to www.quant-boats.com there you see what it is - a Quant 23
What a beauty. 😎👍🏻
looks cool, but it's completely useless... More complicated, more expensive and slower than a cat of similar dimensions...
Thanks for your comment - it is completely useless :-)
@@2011quant My pleasure :)
@@ukaszmaksymowicz4579 Look - not everybody loves catamarans. Both concepts (cat or monohull) have their pro and cons, and what you say is mostly true, what the performance is concerned but if you are really familiar what we do in Switzerland and surrounding places on the lakes you maybe would understand why a monohull can make sense. Costs: cat normally are as expensive as comparable monohulls and mostly more expensive. The problem is limited space as well. The new Tf35 foiled cats on lake of Geneva are around 1.5 mio CHF as far as i know and that is - i guess - still not enough. And maintainence is astronomical - and these boats need professional hands to really control them.
@@2011quant i know, that cats are not everybody's darling. Just please tell me, what are the numbers for this boat? Because it looks to me like if M32 could also do the job of a lake rocket 🚀 and some...
Lukas, I guess the M32 would deliver ok. results if it is breezy (see lake Garda) if it is light, these boats would have no chance - search for tf35 (the latest foiling catamarans on Lake geneva). If you like - send me an email of you and we can discuss stuff more easily. write to info@quant-boats.com
Damn that was smooth
Smaller gorilla biscuits.
Your asym is speed limiting you. Needs flattening.
Cool, Eric!
Sure it’s fast but do they serve Hors d'oeuvres?
Looks like an oversized windsurfer
They remind me of the double-chined moth I use to sail in the eighties, but they look fun especially with the foils.
Fireball, remember those?
@@wardhagaman3139 I use to sail one with a mate in the 70's, wonderful memories. I bought a double-chined moth after leaving the fireballs.
@@wardhagaman3139 idd it does look like a fireball
This boat is good.
Looks like one can enjoy Moth speeds almost but when there is wind light you can still sail with Hull in the water. I sail on inland waters which means the wind shifts a lot, and builds from light to moderate winds fairly often. I owned a UFO but was not a good in-the-water sailing boat, better than the moth and wasp, still not that great.
At last, proper real world foiling. Some bloke just enjoying himself. And falling out the back at 0:30 after a tack and I’m guessing the acceleration! You’ve made it look almost achievable for normal people. And once again confirmed Lake Garda’s reputation as a mini ocean.
The Qs are really outstanding. Unfortunately I don´t like the Bow under aesthetic aspects.
Arg .... tooo much fun to watch. = Skeeta watching is torture / I want to sail one !!!!
Dann musst Du eben eine bestellen - das geht :-)
Michi Aeppli, I'll try foiling first. How about @ Skeeta Foiling Camp 2019? 🙂
Wow beautiful boat control. Wish I could afford one seems to be a nice boat
Nice. ... that will put a grin on my face too... ;-)
Wow! I would love to have a boat like this one day!
Simply cool!
love it! just wonder what happens if there a substantial waves...flying, but very low
Wind here is marginal around 7kts (we thought we Need at least 8kts for a take off with this much smaller boat) therefore your flight height is lower. in more breeze you go faster and fly higher - it it gets really bumpy (compared to boat height) you will choose semi-foilng mode (almost flying) and the you sail stable, safely and still very fast.
nice view?
You should not have used that stabilization-software - it fucked up the whole video!
