I just bought the most ridiculous thing…
I just bought a Kingsong 18XL electric unicycle. It's a bizarre and impractical mobility device with a steep learning curve. The first day it seemed like it was going to be impossible for me to ride. I have a long way to go, but after a week of practice I can now cruise a few 100 meters down a paved trail, sort of steer, and occasionally brake.
Even though this is just a start it seems like an accomplishment because it seemed impossible to even get on the thing when I started. Hopefully this was the hardest part and now that I can roll I can work on building my reflexes to get steadier. It's starting to get fun, but I'm sore all over.

Sundance Ballooning

Thanks to the company where I work I got to go on my second balloon flight. The last time I went I forgot to take the lens cap off of my camera, so I didn't mange to capture much of the adventure. This time I was trying to stop myself from taking too many pictures and stay in the moment, but my wife and I got enough clips to make a short story of our trip. We took off at a private airfield, and...
Six Years Of Crashes In Eight Minutes

I've been flying FPV for six years. These certainly aren't all of my crashes, but they are some of the most memorable. Flying is supposed to be about having a good rip and finding the flow, but sometimes the most exciting part is the crashes. 00:00 Introduction 00:10 Bizarre Crashes 00:32 Ground Strikes 02:07 Close Calls 03:47 Failsafes 04:15 Flying Parts 04:32 Surprise Branches 06:44 Passenger...
Big Chute Marine Railroad
Переглядів 57Рік тому
Big Chute Marine railroad is the second last lock in the Trent Severn Canal, and it's not even a lock. Originally intended to be temporary, the railroad is now the only marine railway of its kind in North America still in operation. There's a lot to see here, particularly if you're curious about how things work. I found the rigging for the cart particularly interesting. It's essentially a cable...

This is dumb. It's basically a gag, from a funny flying incident the other day. It should be a short, but I refuse to format video in portrait mode.
New Well
Переглядів 202Рік тому
Our well ran dry. We had to have a new one drilled. I found the process fascinating, but this is mainly me experimenting with editing, so it's a bit odd. The whole process cost an exorbitant amount of money and took about two weeks. We didn't have the finished install at the end, but at least we could flush the toilets without a bucket of rainwater again.
Snowshoeing Killarney Ridge
Переглядів 1137 років тому
Every year Mike and I drive from southern Ontario to Killarney to do some backcountry snowshoeing. This is our second trip this year, and we brought Andy along for the first time. We typically choose the peak of one of the hills as our destination. Killarney has incredible scenery, and the smooth quartzite ridges make the vegetation sparse enough for easy bushwhacking. That said it’s usually a ...
Killarney Boundary Loop

A hyperlapsed video of an 11 day backcountry canoe trip around the boundary of Killarney Provincial Park. This is a challenging trip that visits some of the more spectacular parts of the park. The hyperlapse attempts to cover all of the time we travelled, but due to technical difficulties about 20% of the trip is missing. My goal was to give an impression of what a long canoe trip with challeng...
This is fantastic! Im 51 years old and about 2 months in to this as well. My Begode T4 has about 250 miles as of this video. I try to get about 10-20 miles per day. Soon it will be like just a ride in the park. ua-cam.com/video/n7B9R0kQqm0/v-deo.htmlsi=miJJSus6MynU_anM
Changed my life! I'm sit riding on the Hero now and its a blast!!
Great job! Way to stick with it!
Welcome to the EUC world! You will now be hooked and looking for many ways to pimp your wheel as well your gear. Learning will get easier. Just keep it up.
Welcome to Wheel Life!! 🔥🔥 Great video Thanks for sharing!
Thats awesome. I just bought one as well. How long before you were cruising around?
Took me a week to be able to roll without fence/wall for support (in the video). Two weeks later and I'm getting better at tight turns and I can occasionally mount without support. I still have a ways to go before I'll feel confident just hopping on and going cruising. I had a great session yesterday, but the snow is about to fly so it looks like I'll have to pick it up in the spring.
@@MythicLionMan I have only had one session with mine and was able to make it about 50-60 feet without a fence a couple times. Still have a looooong ways to go. Looking forward to your progress man!
Hilarious and inspiring!
Good for you!!!!! I think every move you made in this video is something just about every new rider will end up doing in one form or another. Nothing unexpected and most looks very familiar!! Sure takes me back to my first days of learning. Glad you wrapped the wheel to give it a bit of protection. The overall soreness will disappear as your skills improve and it will be well worth your efforts. Very pleasing to watch you getting dialed in towards the end of the video. Stick with it and give us an update video to show your progress. You put a smile on my face, thank you!! Oh, and as stated below........it is addicting!!
Thanks for the encouragement. It is fun, but it can be frustrating when progress is slow. I'm getting a bit smoother, but I find every new type of terrain is a challenge, and surprising things are hard. I rode about 7.5 Km on Sunday, but it was all back and forth on the same paved trail. I was worried I wouldn't be able to run the battery down before the snow flies, but I finally have it down to 3.7V per cell. I'll keep practicing until the ice comes. Ever since I started moving faster than my camera woman the footage has become more rare. Maybe in the spring we'll get something with the drone. I wrapped the body with a towel, but I managed to scratch up the handle. In one of the runaways in the video it actually rolled down the hill by having the whole body roll, not just the wheel.
Your getting better and better! 🤙 let’s see an update
Thanks! I'm feeling more stable now, but every little bump is still a challenge. I'm going to have to stop for winter soon, but I'm glad that I managed to get started before the snow flies.
Be careful or you might get tremendously addicted to it! 😅
On the grass, it is much easier starting downhill. Yet, it is on a nice hard surface that it is best to learn.
Yeah, once I got to the point where I could roll at all I found it much easier on hard surfaces. But I want to keep doing some practice on grass because it seems to improve my balance a lot.
Ahh well the Brazilians learned to play soccer on sand and bare feet 😂 😂 well done sir... I'm old but went thru this... Now I ride lynx
You'll get it, you'll be riding the beeps on that kingsong before you know it.
So far I've only made it to about 19 km/h. That actually felt pretty good, but I'm not going to go any faster until I get better at stopping.
That's how I started 9 months ago, and now I can drive pretty well😁👍keep it up
Thanks for the encouragement. I just did my first free mount today. I'm hoping to get some good time in on the weekend and hopefully I'll be less shaky.
Is that your new mode of transport to work? Looks interesting. Although my foot couldn’t handle that anymore since i broke it.
When I take it, my commute is about 60 Km, which would be a bit long on this thing. There are a few reasons I probably won't commute to work with this, but hopefully I can have some fun. Hope your foot gets better.
Looked like a good time.
It was. Really awesome experience.
Looks like fun Pat. How many drones you go through? lol
I've built six, lost two, and retired one. I've rebuilt some of them around three times, and I've done dozens of small repairs. Sometimes the hobby is about fixing/building as much as flying.
You had me at machines. Excellent ground and aerial coverage, plus water from the earth. Can't beat it.
...extra points for making me now want to play MGS!
Like!super edtiion~:))
Yes this was a long time ago but for passerbys of this video, the portage of 2775 meters = 1.724 Miles from David Lake to great Mountain lake is equal to: Chak Peak is a 2,775-metre (9,104-foot) mountain summit located in the Athabasca River valley of Jasper National Park, in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. The Grace Lake to Nellie Lake portage I recall is the longest being roughly 2 kilometers. Killarney Park is seriously something else to behold and paddle.
Thus is suchban interesting video. Really enjoy the commentary. Helps us who haven't done big loops like this prepare. So thank you for this.
Interesting ... that's the same speed I do my tripping at 😊😊
Great trip video, this helped me understand what im up against this fall
OMG!!1 ua-cam.com/video/voQk_KMFuJw/v-deo.html
We paddled in from the Northwest and our first night was Carmichael Lake. We had no advance expectations, just the knowledge that it was a scenic treat. I carried the lighter of our two canoes, and had to tell my friend that I would not be doing a second trip! Too fat! We left two canoes in the bushes near the portage. I had no idea that it was called "The Notch"! Thanks for the insight 25 years later. We had to come down to continue on to Fish Lake, which we managed to paddle straight thru. Again, we didn't know about the cabin to visit, but we did enjoy a great cliff jump site. Thanks.
Wow I've been looking for something like this, great way to preview the portage's although the angles do not give the full sense of the steepness, possibly because I'm watching this on my phone
The portages often don't make it into the photo albums. They're not always the most scenic part of the trip, but they are often one of the most memorable :-). It is hard to get a sense of the angle. I did another trip where I had a rear camera and that gave a better sense of how steep things are, but I never got around to editing it :-).
enjoyed that!
Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this video together. I have always been interested to see Baie Fine and was expecting to see narrower water and steep cliff as I had imagined from the topographic map.
awesome vid! which kind of cameras are you using? are they fixed to the canoe or your actual body?
Thanks. This was shot with a single Mobius action camera attached to a mount on the bow of the canoe. The portage segments were shot as video, and the paddling was shot as time lapse. I've filmed a second trip this way (but still haven't edited the video) where I had two Mobius cameras, one in the bow and one in the stern on an extension arm. I used an external battery for that trip and shot video for all of the segments.
Outstanding video and narration. One of the best I have come across. Thank you very much for taking the time to put this together. Really helpful.
Thanks! Hope you have a great trip :-).
I will have to start hyperlapsing my trips! This is a really cool perspective of things - well done!
Thanks. Good luck with hyperlapsing. I'd like to see more trips like this.
I've not yet seen a video like this one, but this is really the most informative format for trip planning or even just getting an idea of what goes into a trip like this. The only way this could be better is if it was mixed with some more traditional footage of your campsites, etc. Fantastic job on this! Thank you!
Thanks, that was what I was hoping to do. I did do another trip like this in Temeagami but it has been 2 years and I still haven't edited it! I did shoot some 'vlog' type footage on that trip, but it wasn't really my thing. Maybe focusing more on the campsite than myself would help me get into it.
@@MythicLionMan I have footage from 4 past trips that sits unedited, so I can understand that!
Great video. The narration and portage footage is fantastic for trip planning.
Thanks, that's what I was hoping for. Have a great trip!
The timelapse is a pretty cool well of doing a trip report! Well done!!!
Thanks. I've been watching your videos for years and I've always admired the production quality of your content. I met your dad a few years ago while he was working his day job and I was geocaching.
Hey thanks for the kind words! Wow! That's a small world haha!! Paddle on my friend!
spectacular really - so unique and helps me truly relive my past trips as well as see what other lakes look like. Bravo. really
Thanks, I'm really glad you liked it.
I enjoyed what you did here - very visually informative and inspiring!
Thanks. I'm still experimenting with the format. It's a bit unconventional, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Hey I found your video! I'm the guy who met you in Temagami with my wife. And the tuck tape 😣. Enjoyed this video a lot can't wait for your temagami video.
Thanks! I shot 42 hours of video on three cameras in Temagami, and precious little of it had any sunshine :-( I even have a few shots of you and your wife. I'm processing some of the footage right now, but It will take me a long time to make anything of it. I managed to drive my Mazda3 out of that parking lot in one go, but it was a bit dicey :-). I hope that your canoe is on it's way to being repaired. I can feel that pain since I broke mine last year, and it isn't fun.
I watch a lot of canoe videos and even make my own with my wife on my own channel. I really wanted to compliment you on the style of this one. Yours was extremely unique and really gives a flavor of the trip Usually most of a trip in a video lies on the editing floor with a few highlights thrown in. Watching yours gives the same sense of adventure as being there with you. You also have an excellent commentary style...great job! I've done most of your trip but as in two trips; the first on the east side then coming down Great Mountain/Little Mountain to 3 Narrows and the second completing the west and again coming back down through 3 Narrows. Usually, the Killarney trips are a guys trip given the difficulty of the portages but I'm hoping to replicate your trip in 2019 with my wife. I'll definitely return to your video a few times for further reference. Take care, Ken
Thanks for the feedback. I was trying to create something unique, and wasn't exactly sure if there was an audience for it. I'm still working on the technique and I'm not that comfortable with the commentary aspect at all. I just got back from 9 days in Temagami and I've been experimenting with some different ideas, but it will take me a long time to try to cut that mess together. I'll check out your channel. Thanks again for the feedback. Pat
