Suvarna has Fragile X Syndrome and is on the Autism Spectrum, but that doesn’t stop her from pursuing her passions and making a difference in the world. She loves painting, baking and theatre, and has a diploma in graphic design. Despite a lot of challenges, she recently recorded an audio book and says that volunteering gives her joy and purpose. We recently had a fun volunteering activity with the kids from our partner NGO Sparsha Charitable Trust to help build them the communication skills of young students through the means of Improvisation. For this activity, volunteers visited the NGOs’ center and interacted with the students in a few activities that develop their communication skills and instil confidence in then through activities like Role Play, English speaking and Building Conversations! @sparshacharity If you’re someone who would like to interact and teach kids, DM us and we’ll get you connected to a partner NGO if ours!!

On this auspicious occasion of World Environment Day, let us gather as a global community, hand in hand, to reflect upon the immense significance of our precious Earth and rekindle our commitment to protect and restore it. We did a cleanup drive yesterday with a couple of our partners and volunteers! 175+ volunteers joined us to clean the coasts of Mahim Beach who ended up collecting almost 4000 kgs of waste in just 2 hours! This goes to show the kind of changes that we need to make in our day to day lifestyle. We recently facilitated a Zoo Visit at the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan and Zoo with kids from our Partner NGO Angel Xpress Foundation and with Leo Club of Carter Road Mumbai The curious minds explored the zoo, observing and learning more about the animals. We recently conducted a sports day activity with our corporate partner Tata with our partner NGOs Kutumba Foundation and Angel Xpress Foundation The kids and the employees had a great time playing various games like Spoon & Marble Race, Penalty Shootout, Two-legged race, and Collect the cone race! To felicitate the winners, we also had a medal distribution ceremony for the kids and employees as well. Even though the event was on a hot summer morning, it didn’t faze the enthusiasm of the volunteers and kids. #ThursdayTestimonial - Our partnership with Muskurate Raho started back in 2021 through a DM on Instagram when they had reached out to us looking for volunteers for one of their beach cleanup drives in Mahim. Fast forward to 2023 and a couple of events and collaborations together, we have managed to connect them with 200+ active volunteers for their cleanup, restoration and plantation drives who have volunteered for more than 750+ hours and saved more than ₹ 02,00,000 for their initiatives. The children at Ek Tara are inquisitive and the mentors are welcoming and make the volunteers feel comfortable. When I got to know ConnectFor was partnering with Ek Tara for a unique event 'Improve with Improv', I was excited to be a part of this event! Initially, the students were a bit hesitant but gradually warmed to the activity and participated with great enthusiasm! I was a bit hesitant as there was one more volunteer with me, but overall the whole event was conducted very well. I think volunteering, however small the step is, makes a difference since we impact their lives and so do they. To the people who have not volunteered before, I would like to say that you are missing out on something that is enriching and fun.
