Welcome one and all to my channel! The primary purpose of my channel is two fold. The first is to share my experience and progress as I continue down the path as a solo dev (for now) on my long term project. The second is to then explain and show how I make any mechanic, material, or anything else to my viewers. Can we combine ACF with Ninja Bear?
I wouldn't recommend it. They both do the same thing very different ways
remember that when you click simulate to test you wont have a player state or controller etc ... this is the only time it makes sense to have those is valid checks ... your correct but if you dont want a ton of errors thrown when you do simulate its best to put them in

As a few people have commented on the link for FAB not working on my toolkit and my desire to not remove these videos for those that still utilize my toolkit I will inform everyone that EPIC reversed the right for my toolkit to be on their website cause it uses one of THEIR plugins that is still in experimental. Along with issues with FAB itself and Epic's poor customer support on all issues involving the toolkit has caused me to abandon any further updating of the toolkit. First of all thank you for being brutally honest and courageous and talking about the negative reviews. THat gives me even more interest in trying out your product when I get the chance. Secondly, I am very excited about a cave system! Ill be following you for updates. Also, I have been hesitating between many different products, such as Brushify, Errant Photons, and now yours. The big benefit of Errant Photons, seems to be that the hardwork if done by the GPU instead of the CPU so it seems more performant than Brushify for big maps. So I was wondering what are the big pros of using your product and is it performant enough for a large open-world maps, with many actors/a.i. npc, etc. Thanks in advance and keep up doing the great work. Your product will be on my top 3 to try out soon! :)
So, my method utilizes the same stuff Brushify does, Landscape Patches is a child of Landmass. It is not very performant. However, regardless of that you could just as easily utilize my heightmaps in Errant Photon. I'm not going to deny that their landscape solution far exceeds mine. Mine is simply there for those without a budget to be able to get started. As far as PCG goes, I haven't compared their foliage system with PCG so I couldn't tell you which would be best. All I can say is that there's a guarantee that PCG won't go away but non that Errant's solution won't be abandoned (Not that I think they will abandon their product, its a great product) I have their work and enjoyed playing with it. Just note that IDK what will happen to this product once Epic releases their new landscape actor (but it's likely a few years away)

So now building HLODS is working quite fine, not so bugged anymore? I've read somewhere it's a good idea to build HLODs region by region, not for all the map=all regions loaded at once (less risk of UE5 crashing).Can you confirm that?I'm having at most medium,average PC and already knwo,suppose I probably shouldnt build HLOD for entire map at once OFC good luck with your TLCOA project
For my PC I can do the whole map, but I have top everything as far as hardware so yes, for a less than ultra PC I'd suggest doing it in pieces as HLODs do now work
But does it all work correctly in WorldPartitioning way? I mean your 4 landscapes= island are overlaping each others on the edeges? Doesnt it mess wirth worldPartitioning? I understand, hope that when these LandscapesProxies from 2 landscapes are "underwater" its may be no big deal but probably you would put them strctly one next to each other level if they are not "underwoter" partys of the entire worldmap? How does it perform,work for you in later stages of working/plaing this "multi-level" world?
Haha, many questions! Yes it works correctly with world partition. I have it choose which landscape to do (hard coded right now unfortunately). Also, as you said, with my setup keeping all of the points above a certain points makes the previous point moot. Sadly, I have not been able to do a ton of testing, this asset took a great deal of my time to make and test then update from user feedback. Then with FAB deciding my stuff can no longer be added if I'm using one of their plugins I lost my drive for a time. It'll be back, but for now, everyone has what you see there and it works

propably not work bcoz set it wrong bcoz your screen is dev mod lotsa pixels text small. text size is same as commodore 64. even 2022 we have pixels to throw on fonts

It appeared after enabling the required plugins. Might be a good idea to add that in the Fab description.

Yes and no. I can get a 4k map done in an hour. Doing walk-through requires slowing down. Additionally, compare it to how you did it years ago and it's massively fast

Hey! Sorry about that, this is an older version/video! I have a set of 3 videos that goes over the process as I added a few new features and changed things. The button is now called Generate General Info. If you want the updated videos this is for landscape - ua-cam.com/video/J3cGJ89PbKc/v-deo.html and this is for biomes - ua-cam.com/video/1du3obpng90/v-deo.html . Assuming you just downloaded the asset then you've thus far done things the harder way which is great, you're learning more. But there are 2 more plugins to turn off and 2 you can turn off now. The 2 that are needed are named Scriptable Tools Editor Mode and Scriptable Tools Framework. The 2 that can be turned off are biome core and biome sample. Have a great one!

it looks just like Massive Procedural worlds, UI as well. as far as drama, I don't get involved I typically do not pay much attention to free tools, but after using both, this one looks like a copy of it. but inferior version. if you didn't want that drama, maybe you should of made your own unique tool, rather than trying to copy a popular tool.. Games try to do this as well, if you see alot oF games, they are not creative enough to be there own games, or software, folks tend to just copy one another.

I want to test and learn your system at the end of the year. A complete tutorial with free assets / megascans at the end of the year and how to optimize the whole thing for performance when packing would be really cool for noobs like me^^ big thx for your free tool!
Great suggestion! A lot of that goes beyond what my tool's purpose is (Optimization is more of a per project thing as an example) but I can check my schedule and see what I can do.

@@istealpixel7371 PCG utilizes several optimization options already. Every mesh is turned into an instance, meaning only one gets loaded into memory and reused. Additionally, you can mark them to add to the HLOD generation process. There is also culling. It doesn't get more optimized than that

how long is the x axis for the 2k landscape?
It's a perfect square so as long as the y. If you mean the resolution of the landscape its 2017 the scale is 100
What if I want to remake the entire world 🌎
Like our planet? That depends on the strength of your PC and your patience. If you want it to be in the shape of a globe you'd need to look for a different asset. As I've said it's possible but if you want it to be easily performant and want it to scale you may want to look elsewhere. I don't extend the optimization of Epics work. I just use it the best I can haha
Funny, I am also looking for a projection of a landscape onto a sphere
@@done1338 For spherical worlds you will need to look into something Like the Voxel Plugin or some other landscape or world creator plugin. I only use what is provided by Epic and Unreal Engine. I don't extend the underlying code in any way.

QQ: Am I fine to leave all the stamps on the map, or should I somehow bake it all into the landscape or export and import as a single heightmap for simplification?
You can do it however you wish. The way I have it set in my toolkit provides the option to create heightmaps to export. However you can place and keep stamps where ever you want. You just have to understand that that is an extra acter per stamp so it's about whatever your project needs
@@wonderscapecreations perfect! Right now I reduced my map size to a 1k square. Only using 3 stamps. But I think I’ll try the export and import option just to reduce complexity. I’m loving these tutorials, working my way through. Just completed a map, next going to material painting, then PCG. 🙂
im a creator, i would love someting like this just to show caste my textures. rocks trees, have you also added matieral slots. couldent fight any slots in the material instance so noidea how to add textures to the project :) i just see a constant for me 16 materia slots to populate the world is kind of imporant but i understand what you are doing here. its more a tool at dynamicaly add tress etc. ill check back on your project later on.
Turn off the debug and you'll see what's ready. In my next update it's turned off by default so everyone can see everything. Additionally, I only have 12 materials connected but duplicating one of my materials, renaming it all, and connecting it until you have 16 is easy enough

Hey! Looking good so far. Its working well. I had to upgrade to 5.5 because 5.4 kept crashing for me :/ I'm a noob at Landscapes and materials but some bits that might help others: 40:29 - If you don't see your layers, make sure to call your Landscape Layer Blends the EXACT SAME Biome01, Biome02. They are hidden otherwise
