This is the start of a little series about catching more fish. There is no wrong way to fly fish, and this is just what I have picked up during my time on the water.

I’m curious, what vise are you using and how do you like it?
I think this is called Dan Vise. I don't love it, but it gets the job done. I haven't invested in an expensive vise yet. I keep moving aroud. I did attach it to a wooden pedestal so it is more mobile.
Thank you!!!! I know any of the renzettie travelers can last you a lifetime if you take care of it. I personally have a renzettie traveler 2200, and it’s around $250. And I absolutely love it.
I don't catch many big fish with this fly but i recently bought a 2 weight fly rod and smaller trout are funner to play with on that rod I'll definitely have to fill my box up with some of these maybe 4 or 5 dozen
It definitely has a good imprint and color match, but the moose mane doesn't hold up that great. I suggest a thin layer of super glue under the moose
Fly fishing is series of failures and disappointment but I cannot resist keep doing this. I can’t agree with you more. Have a good day sir.
Man that water is flowing faaaast!
Yeah buddy!
Hello again would let me go to the link u sent me
Would u want to part ways with one or both your sushi rolls??? Thanks man
I would- but I am currently in S Korea. It might not be worth the shipping fees
@FlyLibrary just let me know I'd gladly be interested and are we living out there
@@joshborrego2197 Let me think about it. You mentioned they don't make them anymore. haha that is giving me cold feet. Regardless- send me a message through my blog www.bassflyfishingkorea.com
@@FlyLibrary cool man sent msg and found them in Thailand and Chili but the don't ship to my region unfortunately
How long u have urs for and witch size u like better
First one :D
I've tried getting a fishpond sushi roll
Which size?
@FlyLibrary any but preferably small or large
@@joshborrego2197 I purchased both- the small one is the most practical to carry. In terms of function- a cheap plastic box is better
@FlyLibrary I had the small and lost it and they don't make em any more witch sucks been trying track one down
Where you make your purchase?
It is a CDC midge pattern
I copy ..ready to game?😊😅😅😅😅
I just started fly tying and I made my first good packed deer hair popper
Excellent!
Are those your old nic pouch containers? 😂 I do the same!
Indeed
Thank you. This has been very intimidating for me to start tying. Will look for more of your videos
Correct thread is the key. You really need to snich down. However, you can tie smaller patterns with a 140 or 210. And the tread control will make you a better tier.
Thank you so much this really helped!
The thread really makes a difference utc kevlar, nano silk, geevus, gsp are some of the more popular threads for spinning hair.
@@FlyLibrary ok thank you!
Can you do a video on how to do the spin thing I always have trouble doing it
Certainly
@@FlyLibrary thank you!
Recorded and saved for when I don’t have service lmao
would u recommend to a newbie since the price is somewhat more approachable to alternatives?
It's a good boot- if you are looking for something lightweight. One of the best boots I fished with was a cabela's brand. There are many good options for beginners. Are you fishing year round or just the summer?
@@FlyLibrarymostly just spring, summer, and fall and plan to skip winter entirely
@@jicalzadin that case I would invest in a decent pair of boots, and the Stealth Shoe is a good option. The laces are a little flimsy- I retie at least once while on the water. But they convert well to wet wading.
How is the grip of the Korkers? Are the just like every other rubber sole? Great dry but slippery when wet!
Better than expected 👌 the weak point are the laces. They are pretty flimsy
The grip is as good as any simms boot I have ever worn
Hey nice fly a tip I would recommend is going with semperfli thread the classic waxed thread is stronger and a better deal than uni thread
I haven't tried the semperfli thread. Thanks for the suggestion
@@FlyLibrary definitely I swear by semperfli
Save yourself a step and just buy hlack zip ties. Still a cool looking hig style fly. Gonna have to give these a go.
For sure!
Great video most people use the fibers off a hen pheasant quill for the wing of the green Peter. It looks great though🎣
These are the messiest to tie haha. I tied my first one the other day, I need to tie some more.
Truthfully I don't fish these patterns enough
That looks amazing!!
You fish this with an intermediate line?
The jig hooks aren't the best for stripping. If I was using an intermediate I would tie the pattern on a regular down eye. This pattern is designed to be fished under an indicator
How did you add dubbing to the thread i find it extremely hard and i see you’re very skilled? Do you have a video on it?
For that pattern- I split the thread with a bodkin to create a dubbing loop, and then spin the bobbin to "spin" in the material
like the big musky style stuff on Tokyo bay in the autumn
Nice- I need to try Tokyo Bay again
For chub?
Summertime trout
That's a ten incher lol looks good though. I like to tie mine in a #10 2X long curved nymph hook and add a bunch of wire for extra weight. I really only use them for steelhead and while I've tied them in a variety of patterns and sizes the larger ones always seem most productive
I've never fished for Steelhead, and imagine those rivers are mighty and flowing. It makes sense you would need the extra weight and size! Good luck out there!
@FlyLibrary thanks! Actually the rivers in my area of NE Ohio are pretty small. Only one is big enough to float rafts. Hopefully you can experience it one day
That’s one of the best crawfish imitations I’ve seen! Awesome man
Thank you 😊
The tall buildings behind the lake are amazing! It is fun to catch a fish on a 3# rod.
Lenok, too!! Very interesting
Good teaching, ty!🎏
Thank you 😊
You tie some really unique+creative flies. If you put up actual tying videos I think they’d be a hit.
I really appreciate it 🙏 but I am a tier and angler...YT is just for fun!
Format would make for a nice cicada fly.
Check out my foam cicada! It took me a while to come up with the design
Looks like a killer. What’s the metallic sheeting you use for zonker backing?
The zonker strip comes the the metallic backing - I believe Hairline calls it a "bling strip"
Cool stonefly! Liked how you added eyes
Haha definitely unnecessary 🤣
Would it be to much to actually show how you tied the fly???
😮🐸
Wow! Very realistic 😮
Thank you so much 😀
Excellent spinning and stacking! Fish On! 👍👍🎣👌
Thank you 😊 I will keep working on it!
looks like scud also..nice!
Definitely could go that route.
Hi long time viewer new subscriber here. Living in asan and would love to pick your brain about some good winter spots for trout khere in korea
Sure, send me a message www.bassflyfishingkorea.com
does it swim like a gamechanger with metal shanks?
It darts- but if I did it again I would use a different material
What would you use?
@@HuckinGrains some shanks
@@FlyLibraryI was wondering how it would swim with mono shanks. Still a good idea for something different.
it is not practical- The mono shanks are good for larger patterns, but the micro stuff is not so useful. There isn't a lot of movement- only a nice profile. @@Three_Rivers_Adventure
Wow. I've been up in Gangwondo and know that their are trout there, but didn't know they got this big. You have inspired me next quest.
It can be hit or miss try a few days after rain- it's generally the best flow
Morning inspo for sure with this pattern. I love finding new ways to tie in foam sheets bc they are soooo cost effective. I'll be playing around with this a lot thanks to this video. Well done!
Love cherry trout fishing, the last time we went they were so skittish!!!!
Yes, 6x and the right pattern and presentation. I had a lot of missed strikes. Sz 18 dark cdc caddis was the best. Followed by a sz 16 light brown bloom's caddis
@Fly Library thanks for the input, one of these days we will try again for them!!!!
Good tie and great bug! FYI, your video image is the feather and not the fly. Not sure if that was your intent, but it may help get more views if you feature the fly. Cheers
Thank you, thank you 😊 unfortunately YT doesn't let me change the thumbnail for short videos.
@@FlyLibrary , that's unfortunate. Well, best of luck on your yt adventures. I've been thinking of starting my own tying channel too. Such a cool hobby.
Great fishing video
Love topwater fishing. Awesome video
Oh yeah! I concur
