    I’m curious, what vise are you using and how do you like it?

      I think this is called Dan Vise. I don't love it, but it gets the job done. I haven't invested in an expensive vise yet. I keep moving aroud. I did attach it to a wooden pedestal so it is more mobile.

      Thank you!!!! I know any of the renzettie travelers can last you a lifetime if you take care of it. I personally have a renzettie traveler 2200, and it’s around $250. And I absolutely love it.

    I don't catch many big fish with this fly but i recently bought a 2 weight fly rod and smaller trout are funner to play with on that rod I'll definitely have to fill my box up with some of these maybe 4 or 5 dozen

      It definitely has a good imprint and color match, but the moose mane doesn't hold up that great. I suggest a thin layer of super glue under the moose

      Correct thread is the key. You really need to snich down. However, you can tie smaller patterns with a 140 or 210. And the tread control will make you a better tier.

      The thread really makes a difference utc kevlar, nano silk, geevus, gsp are some of the more popular threads for spinning hair.

      It's a good boot- if you are looking for something lightweight. One of the best boots I fished with was a cabela's brand. There are many good options for beginners. Are you fishing year round or just the summer?

      ​@@jicalzadin that case I would invest in a decent pair of boots, and the Stealth Shoe is a good option. The laces are a little flimsy- I retie at least once while on the water. But they convert well to wet wading.

    How is the grip of the Korkers? Are the just like every other rubber sole? Great dry but slippery when wet!

      Better than expected 👌 the weak point are the laces. They are pretty flimsy

    Hey nice fly a tip I would recommend is going with semperfli thread the classic waxed thread is stronger and a better deal than uni thread

    Save yourself a step and just buy hlack zip ties. Still a cool looking hig style fly. Gonna have to give these a go.

      The jig hooks aren't the best for stripping. If I was using an intermediate I would tie the pattern on a regular down eye. This pattern is designed to be fished under an indicator

      For that pattern- I split the thread with a bodkin to create a dubbing loop, and then spin the bobbin to "spin" in the material

    That's a ten incher lol looks good though. I like to tie mine in a #10 2X long curved nymph hook and add a bunch of wire for extra weight. I really only use them for steelhead and while I've tied them in a variety of patterns and sizes the larger ones always seem most productive

      I've never fished for Steelhead, and imagine those rivers are mighty and flowing. It makes sense you would need the extra weight and size! Good luck out there!

      it is not practical- The mono shanks are good for larger patterns, but the micro stuff is not so useful. There isn't a lot of movement- only a nice profile. @@Three_Rivers_Adventure

      Yes, 6x and the right pattern and presentation. I had a lot of missed strikes. Sz 18 dark cdc caddis was the best. Followed by a sz 16 light brown bloom's caddis
