We just returned from a week in Croatia on the Markan. The yacht was 1 year new, spotless and impeccably maintained. The crew, from the Captain, to the dining room staff, to the deckhands and the cabin crew could not have been nicer or more competent. (One young woman, Lucy, our room steward, who worked from 6 AM to Midnight every day, was amazing. She brought the spirit of a Mermaid to the trip.) The crew made the cruise! Every one of the 38 guests bonded into a family (with the exception of one guest who would have found fault with the color of the Pearly Gates and would have caused St. Peter to turn around and walk away. Thankfully, we were all able to ignore this crank who took her wrath out on anyone she could. I was amazed at how well the crew handled her.) The Island tours were spectacular as was each and every activity that was planned for us. Morning swims off each Island in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic were idyllic. Local tours of wineries, oyster farms, the Blue Cave and each city/town tour were managed by wonderful, enthusiastic local guides who knew their proud history and heritage could not have been better. The cruise director, Harry, was phenomenal. He provided the administrative lubrication to make the whole journey effortless, and always used his fluid English and sense of humor to make every little detail enjoyable. From Split to Dubrovnik this trip was eye candy every day! This place is a photographer's paradise. Having traveled extensively and via many cruise vessels over the years, I can confidently say that this is by far, the best way to enjoy this magnificent ancient wonderland.
