In the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful!
All Praise is due to Allah Almighty who is the Sustainer of all the Universe. I bear witness that there is no god to be worshiped but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. May the peace and blessings of Allah Almighty be upon Muhammad (All Prayers and Blessings of Allah be upon him), his family, his companions and all those who follow him in righteousness until the day of Resurrection. Dear brothers and sister! Amma ba'du, The best discourse is the Book of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. And the most evil of affairs are their innovations and every innovation is misguidance.
Dear believers, I call upon myself and you to follow the laws of Allah Almighty and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (All Prayers and Blessings of Allah be upon him). Fear the Just Allah from whom no one can hide anything. Today I would like to ask a question, are technologies and engineering important to us? Do they affect our piety and faith and the fulfillment of the laws of Allah Almighty? In Surah Al-Kahf, which we try to read every Friday, and which I call a little life, there is a wonderful story about Dhul-Qarnayn and his exploits. By the grace of the Almighty, Dhul-Qarnayn in his time brought monotheism to all the inhabitants whom he ruled both in the East and in the West. We all know that it was he who stopped the peoples of Yog and Magog and imprisoned them in caves until the Day of Judgment so that they would not harm ordinary people. This story contains wonderful words from the Holy Quran from Surah Kahf:
ءَاتُونِى زُبَرَ ٱلْحَدِيدِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا سَاوَىٰ بَيْنَ ٱلصَّدَفَيْنِ قَالَ ٱنفُخُوا۟ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَعَلَهُۥ نَارًۭا قَالَ ءَاتُونِىٓ أُفْرِغْ عَلَيْهِ قِطْرًۭا ٩٦
Bring me blocks of iron!” Then, when he had filled up ˹the gap˺ between the two mountains, he ordered, “Blow!” When the iron became red hot, he said, “Bring me molten copper to pour over it.” (Al Kahf, ayah 96)
You may ask what is so unusual in these words, but I want to remind you that all this happened thousands of years ago, when people did not have computers and the Internet. A perfect understanding of what iron, lead, metal smelting technology and mountain structure are allowed Zul-Qarnain to fulfill the will of Allah Almighty, save many people and become a sign of Allah Almighty. Having knowledge in the field of technology is important for all of humanity and at the same time this is a clear sign of Allah, because no one except Allah, who knows everything, can teach all this, we as people began our beginning with knowledge, and Allah Almighty taught our forefather all the names (languages and knowledge), so that we could develop and develop this land. Almighty Allah, writing iron, says the following in Surah Al-Hadid:
وَأَنزَلْنَا ٱلْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌۭ شَدِيدٌۭ وَمَنَـٰفِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُۥ وَرُسُلَهُۥ بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌۭ ٢٥
And We sent down iron with its great might, benefits for humanity, and means for Allah to prove who ˹is willing to˺ stand up for Him and His messengers without seeing Him. Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty (Al Hadid, ayah 25).
Allah Almighty explained to us that with the help of iron we can create many things including weapons with which we can defend ourselves, but here first of all we need to understand that iron is for the development, protection and protection of people, which is what Zul-Qarnayn understood in his time. By reading the Quran, we develop and gain different knowledge and methods for the protection of humanity and its development and thereby fulfill the will of Allah Almighty. Knowledge in the field of faith and natural sciences is an integral part of us, and when we forget about it, we find ourselves far behind, and when we remember that Allah Almighty has given us sciences for development and protection, we become exactly who we should be.
