Classic scene from It's a Wonderful Life. Probably my favorite scene.
Cymbeline Remix
Переглядів 49916 років тому
A remix of my high school's production of Cymbeline. Basically, it's about the villian, Iachimo (Salvy) and how he messes around with the Narrator (Jeff), who's trying to put on a show.

He's teasing. It was pretty common in that era, though nowadays is seen as probably a sex crime.

5:35 Always liked the change of tone and the music especially when George leaves and we see that last shot of Mary with the wonderful somber score by Tiomkin. Such a sad moment.

So I work at a school and I love my job mostly. But I’m also mentally ill. So the other day I’m deep into a depressive episode and I’m already trying to fight back tears but I get to work and as I walk down the corridor and in the music room the kids are singing this song. And it brings tears to my eyes, but it also cheers me up somehow because it immediately reminds me of this beautiful movie and it makes me think “I wanna live! Dear God I wanna live!” Anyways, I felt better afterwards. Needless to say, I adore this movie. James Stewart’s performance was one for the ages.

When he asks what she wished for, and she glances at him then goes right back to singing and walking, the audience knows EXACTLY what she wished for thanks to Donna Reed’s magnificent performance and the excellent timing of the whole scene.

Fun Fact: Frank Capra had hired a marksman to shoot out the window when Mary threw the rock. They ended up not needing the guy; Donna Reed was a ballplayer in high school and hit the window on her own.

@@koolmckool7039 But cancellations and trigger warnings have become more common in the last five to ten years. That much is true. Conservatism isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

@@WedgePee Perhaps, but now we realize certain things are wrong, or upsetting to audiences, and we realize that it's okay to acknowledge that they are wrong, or give warning that it's upsetting. I'm claustrophobic, and I'd glad if there's a warning for us if there's a claustrophobic scene in a movie or TV show. Further, cancelling back in the day was known as boycotting, and boy was it common back in the day. You just don't hear Boomers talk about it because they want to feel morally superior to the younger generation. I am a Conservative, I just don't fall into the "Piss of Libtards every chance we get" one. They aren't funny, or cool, or revolutionary, they're just jerks.
