Flettner 2000™ Ventilator on BT Openreach Van
As the snow falls, the Flettner 2000™ Ventilator continues to spin on this stationary BT Openreach van. Our vents continue to work when the vehicle is not moving to extract unwanted contaminants and manage the internal environment of the vehicle.
We hope this BT engineer fixed the problem quickly to escape the cold.

      We recommend fitting a floor vent with a roof vent. From our own internal tests, we found that incoming air and extraction work well together. The incoming air supports the effective operations of the roof vent and helps it to operate to full capacity. The analogy we use is that of a coke bottle. If you suck a coke bottle after drinking it, the plastic will scrunch up and you will hit a limit of extraction. If you added a pin prick to the bottom of the bottle, you would be able to keep sucking air. So, with most installations a floor vent is a good approach.

    In hot countries, they should make this stock-standard equipment plus one or two more as optional-extra.sss. 2x air intake, 1x air exhaust (spinning direction hack) for vehicles without sun roofs. And solar-cell linned additional plastic-layer insulator to power interior fans hacks to vent the entire vehicle when the thingies are not spinning (parked under the sun during supermarket run)...

    Hi, Bought one of these 27 August, 2021, and as a reviewer stated, it only works when driving. I have done some research on my particular fan with CCTV & Windfinder app... It doesn't start to rotate until around 18-20 mph wind strength when parked on my drive. So resigned to a 'fail' this time, I decided that at least, it lets out hot air and doesn't leak when it rains. [Ford Transit Custom]. What has decided me to enquire now, is I recently pulled up next to an identical FTC at a local business, only to see his LP flettner spin happily in a little wind where mine was motionless only 5 yds away? I am in the process of slowly backing off the securing bolts, in case it is my fault overtightening them. But no improvement yet.....

      @@LewisBotham-pv6dj Hi Lewis, the answer is No. Have tried loosening off the securing screws but still only starts rotating 'slowly' when wind speed is over 20 mph... 2nd thought I've had is are the roof bars interrupting/reducing the airflow/wind to the Flettner? Plus side is I have a waterproof vent in the roof! I now have a Propex LPG heater installed which can suck in fresh air (unheated) if it gets too hot in the Summer (what's that?)

      I have an idea. What if you made a U-shaped base around the vent which would be only open at the rear side. This base would be only 10mm high. You don’t want new holes in the roof so you can use a powerful adhesive like the Sikaflex 221. There would be 3 threaded holes in this base (you can use aluminium rivet nuts) which would allow you to attach a streamlined cover. That will block the wind, the ventilator won’t be spinning. When you’re planning to do 70mp for hours, put the cover on; then remove it when you arrived to your destination. The only inconvenience is that you don’t take a ladder with you, so how do you get up there?

    • @007kisvakond
      @007kisvakond 2 роки тому

      Another (inconvenient) solution could be to use a belt-like cover with Velcro from the outside. When you’re planning to do 70mp for hours wrap the belt around the ventilator; then remove the cover when you arrived to your destination.

    Interesting, so this could be very very easily retrofitted with extremely soft brushes to induce a static charge to power a capacitor bank and then onto a battery bank. So your vehicle could literally be charging itself while not even moving provided that there's wind and really charging very well when moving. Why do we have petrol and diesel vehicle's when static electricity could easily replace them and be far cleaner, vehicles would literally be ozone creators which if you skip back 20 years or so all aerosols were supposed to be depleting our ozone to unsafe levels. No carbon emissions just ozone which is supposed to be beneficial not only to ourselves but also plants and the general environment. It's really not rocket science, when a static object is brushed by bristles in motion a positive charge is converted, this charge can very very easily be channelled into super capacitors and them be then channelled into high density and cycling batteries. Not what oil companies want because someone with brains and enough funding can easily make an electric vehicle that doesn't need to ever be plugged in to charge. Of course you'll require deep cycle batteries to provide your initial power to move the vehicle but the point it YOU DON'T NEED TO CHARGE IT, THE THING WILL CHARGE JUST SITTING THERE IF THERE'S ANY WIND. Keep in mind that you don't require a lot of abrasive force to create a static charge and the more your turbine spins the higher/faster it provides energy, of course the ideal cars would have solar roof panels and me personally I'd also run water guttering with turbines just encase of the unlikely event of no wind or Sun but just rain. The three main basis for any truly fully electric vehicles to cover is what I call “the WESS. principal" and that's water, electrostatic, solar. If any “E,V" isn't in some significant way trying to gain energy from all of these avenues then in my humble opinion it's not a true E,V because it's still dragging from the nuclear power stations. No electric vehicles should need to be plugged into to be recharged as our very climate can more than provide the power needed in fact if you could afford to spend as you need to in those three areas you'd have surplus power not struggling to make it. The biggest conspiracy to hinder our world was the creation of finance, the one very clause that prevents our species from making real productive progress for everyone. We'll get past in soon enough but it's been an absolute murderous nightmare getting to it. Good video, please contact me if you want more information on how you can repurpose your product for the up and coming electric vehicles markets. In 20 years we won't have petrol and diesel powered cars on the roads, I'm sure it would be prudent for you to make this product into a static electric charging device it really wouldn't take a great deal of modifications in the production process. Just think of all the E,V's that your system could be providing static safe charging for, ITS AS BIG AS THE GUY WHO INVENTED CATS EYE ROAD REFLECTORS. And I don't even want you to pay me for this idea, I'd just like to see it developed and it be shown to E,V enthusiasts that it's an excellent device, if you're really on the ball you could make a traditional turbine with a motor in it and make it detachable so if people can't exploit the wind, rain or solar then should they be near a river or stream it could be put in that and charge. I DON'T WANT PAYING I JUST WANT TO SEE PROGRESS. A true electric vehicle that would do real justice to the late Dr Nikola Tesla.

      I used to have one on my paint van and I live in the UK where it's more rain than not and never had issues with wet interior of my van. I'm assuming that the rotation provides a vortex which causes suction from the interior of the vehicle to the exterior thus repelling the rain exactly like how it draws and keeps it cool.

      Yeah it's called 2mm sheet steel and a welder and once you're done making sure the welds are water tight then use some anti rust treatment paint and paint it on sparingly around all the areas that are exposed. Allow to dry they apply some good quality primer, I understand that not everyone has a welder or knows how to weld, arc welders cost next to nothing and I can promise anyone who really takes time to learn how to weld it will only benefit you. Being able to custom make things when you need them is extremely handy, I think it should be taught as a basic skill for children in school a lot like construction used to be but obviously at the beginning of secondary school all children should be learning these very simply but extremely handy throughout life skills. Buy a welder and some steel, buy an arc welder to start then move onto others if you want and can afford it. If you don't want to weld then I suppose braising is another technique you could employ which coincidently is becoming more and more popular with the use of hydrogen gas torches and them being far safer that all other methods. Either buy a welder or make or buy a high volume hydrogen cell which is cheaper than some might think. And what's great about using hydrogen gas for braising is it recondeses back into clean water so it's a pretty cool solution.
