Marbodal Kitchen Install Episode 3.
In this episode I continue with the kitchen fit and install the bench tops, Dishwasher, door fronts and some of the small trims.
The content on this channel is generally based around Carpentry and construction.
I am also in the process of building a furniture brand. This is proving to be a very slow and painful process for me but I am determined to push on. There will be some episodes around that business coming up soon on the channel.
Thanks for watching and if you have any questions about the projects you see on here or any questions about construction or home renovation in general then please put them in the comment section and I will try to answer them.

STAVREX Ground screws and FESTOOL Centrotec are an awesome combination

In this episode I continue building a beautifully designed fence. The simplicity of design is what gives this fence it's architectural look. Throughout the project I had to keep focus as one mistake could ruin the clean repetition of the fence design. The project took around 4 weeks to complete and I was lucky enough to have nice weather conditions during that time. The material used was: STAVR...
Using STAVREX Ground Screws to build a fence in the Swedish mountains

I recently built a very long fence. I was lucky enough to have wonderful weather for most of the project. It was a simple design and it was the same thing repeated over many many metres. I think the practice of using repetition in design is very effective, if no particular part of the project catches your eye, to me that is simple and beautiful design at it's best. How did you go about learning construction carpentry and home renovation, what's the best way to get into it in your opinion?

  • @KalevLember
    @KalevLember 2 дні тому

    Thanks for the video! I have two questions: (1) Did you remove a piece of drywall and replace it with plywood, behind the upper cabinets? Is it a common practice to do it like that? (2) The plywood strip that the cabinets rest on, is it temporary and only used to make the installation easier?

    • @Workshop23Workshop23
      @Workshop23Workshop23 День тому

      1: I did remove a piece of drywall and replace it with 15mm plywood, it is the first time I have done this, the reason was, I needed a good material to fix to for the wall cabinets and the budget did not allow for the whole wall to be removed and lined with plywood so this was a cheaper alternative. I am not sure if it is common but it worked out great so I plan to do this again in the future. 2: The plywood strip was only temporary to make the installation easier because I was working alone, this was the first time I had done this and it also worked well so I will be using this technique again. Thank you very much for the questions 👍🙏

      @Workshop23Workshop23 День тому

      If the "why" is why ask me anything, I mean anything about renovating. I often have people ask me in person about a project they want to do at home. I thought if anyone who watched the video had some unanswered questions then maybe I could help them with an answer. I hoped that it would increase activity on this channel and also give some value to people who watched it. Thanks for the comment 👍

      The kitchen was designed to cover the complete section so I was able to fix directly to the plywood. If any of the wall was going to be visible I would usually cover the wall with plasterboards. Thanks for the question, I hope to upload part 2 on this coming Saturday 👍

    Won't there be a filler piece left of the top cabinet you replaced?

    • @Workshop23Workshop23
      @Workshop23Workshop23 4 дні тому

      There will be, I think I filmed that in the next episode of the install. Those thin filler pieces take lots of time for such small pieces but I think they are what take the kitchen fit to a higher standard if they are done well. Thanks for the comment 👍🙏

    Does the drill have a level on it? I am curious how you keep the post plumb without pausing to put a level up to it every few rotations. Thank you.

    • @Workshop23Workshop23
      @Workshop23Workshop23 13 днів тому

      Yeah the drill machine has a bubble level built in, also by pre drilling the hole with the hammer drill it creates a guide for the screw, if you hit a stone it rocks it can send the screw off course, thanks for the question 👍

  • @yurihuta8487
    @yurihuta8487 14 днів тому

    Can you reverse the ground screw if you hit a very large rock? Pull the ground screw out by reversing the motor? If so, do you have to place the diagonal pipe on the other side of a fixed anchor? Thank you for sharing these videos!

    • @Workshop23Workshop23
      @Workshop23Workshop23 13 днів тому

      No worries 👍, that’s correct you can switch into reverse and remove the screw, if it is tight in the ground you can do as you say and flip the diagonal pipe, I don’t know if it is in the video but once you have one screw in the ground you can then use the previous screw as your anchor for the diagonal brace, that worked pretty good

  • @yurihuta8487
    @yurihuta8487 14 днів тому

    It looks like there is some flexibility in terms of alignment with other posts. Is the requirement only three screws on one side and then how many screws on the other side to secure the vertical post? Thank you for sharing these videos of your work.

    • @Workshop23Workshop23
      @Workshop23Workshop23 13 днів тому

      You are welcome for the videos 👍, thank you for the questions I think it helps with the channel growth🙏. There was some variation with the alignment I corrected this by moving the posts forward or back in the screw bracket. I used 3 screws on each side of the bracket, I do not know if there is an industry standard but this was what I agreed with the customer and it seems to be a good level of strength. Thanks again for the comments and questions 👍

    • @Workshop23Workshop23
      @Workshop23Workshop23 13 днів тому

      Thank you for the compliment and the enthusiasm👍. I actually don’t know the type of wood. It’s what the suppliers offer for outside work such as decking projects and fences, One thing with the wood is the posts are glued beams which means they are made up of separate pieces of wood that are glued together, this type of posts was preferable because it tends to stay straighter over time, thanks for the comment 🙏

      @Workshop23Workshop23 20 днів тому

      Thank you for your compliment on the channel. You are correct in your thoughts about being knocked out of plumb. Stones were not much of an issue in this particular ground but there were some tree roots that did exactly that. I found I could tackle this issue somewhat by doing a thorough job with the pilot drill. I imagine if you were to do this work regularly you would pick up some tricks and techniques that would improve the overall result. Having said that being the first time I had used the screws it went well in general. Thank you for the comment 👍🙏

    The roles really depend on the employment structure, im a self employed carpenter so im doing lots of “labours” work to complete my jobs and thats just the way it is, i’ll do the demo, clean up and the building. But on the other hand if im hired by a contractor as a trim carpenter, no im not going to be washing the windows. Most people really dont understand what the job of a carpenter is , even people in the trades who have only ever worked for large construction companies, if you are self employed or working for a small contractor with just a couple employees you will filling many roles besides your actual trade

      @@Workshop23Workshop23 I finished my second w/s last Year. It's not really operational yet, more of a glorified store. It's 90sq my so a decent size, I built most of it on my own. I must run power to it and wire it up plus put a Scandi stove into it. Is there a lot of carpentry/joinery work in Sweden? I was there in 2018 doing a log cabin building cse and I thought it was a beautiful place. I'd consider moving there in the future, 👍💪🔨🇸🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

    I prefer to make those pictures frames for windows or attic hatches on a bench. I biscuit and glue the mitres. The lack of a mitre saw stand and a site bench would drive me mad. Also i can't work without my occidental leather tool belt. Nice work dude, very tasty, 👍💪🔨🪓🌲🇮🇪🇮🇪

      Thanks, what's the occidental tool belt, sounds cool, can you post a link ? I think you are right about how to build the frames, sometimes it comes down to the time and opportunity there is for space to work, but I often feel the irritation of not being able to do the work in the best way possible, thanks for the comment 🤟

      @@Workshop23Workshop23 Indeed, sometimes space can be at a premium and that dictates the methods employed.

    Mate just get a proper post hole digger. Rapid set cement and the ends. Those ground screws are going to shift over time. Not a good product. Do it right and youll do it once... looking at that youre going to be redoing that fence line in 3 years. Especially if youre in a place with a fair bit of rain

      Don't tell me that, I almost had a breakdown trying to get these things in the ground ! To be honest I am a bit old school and digging holes and putting posts in the ground with concrete has been the only way I have ever done a fence. On this project my friend Erik was the designer and engineer and he is a smart guy so I trust his judgement and also I am trying to be better at embracing new technologies, But time will tell, I hope you are wrong ! thanks for taking the time to comment 👍
