There is an option to buy gems that is true, but if you're patient and enter the drops which happen every half hour you can accumulate a decent amount as a f2p.

Exactly why I chose Mimikyu. Not only is it untouchable but it can cause status ailments to stop other Riolus from being called.

Thanks I had ordered an elgato a few months ago so I could record from my console instead of just doing things from my laptop but it never came and I am still handling that dispute.

It really is up to how patient you are. I've heard of players getting so far in their chains that instead of turning off their systems they leave it in sleep and continue off it the next day. I am sure you'll get it eventually especially considering I am an unlucky guy to begin with.

VishStix Actually found one an hour after posting. Seems that I managed to hold up and use up all my luck. Worth it for my first intentional shiny.

No problem. Just make sure you have adrenaline balls and a way to restore your pp effectively. It may take some time but it will definitely show.

I actually got very lucky with this. I was continuing the story when I ran into a random Riolu. Knowing that you can get some good IVs at around 40 sos calls I decided to chain him. On a whim to just be safe I decided to go for 50 and on the 48th Riolu that appeared it just happened to be shiny. A good Pokemon to use would be Smeargle or even the event Munchlax/Snorlax. You want a Pokemon who can learn false swipe or hold back and who is also capable of learning Recycle. Let that Pokemon hold a Leppa berry and keep recycling it when you use it. After that ,It's just a matter of waiting and patience.

Riolu's fighting moves do not work on Ghost types. You noticed it tried Final Gambit, and it didn't work on Mimikyu. Decidueye, which can learn False Swipe, is perfect for this. Nothing Riolu knows can hit it; as a result, it can't kill itself with Final Gambit. I used mine to get my 4iv Riolu.

Thanks for the compliment. That is actually very under leveled for this part of the game but I am trying. The game has been awesome! I still haven't explored everything and the online battling is pretty stable with very few disconnects. The game is worth every cent and anyone new or old to the franchise can get into it.

That would seem logical from your standpoint however I placed the names in a random order not necessarily the order in which you commented. And to make sure there was no bias I tested the randomizer before hand using my own name and vishstix2,vishstix3,vishstix4 and etc and the results were different each time. In the overall scheme I guess they just happened to get lucky.
