"money isn't evil, it is a tool we can use". To me, "money", defined as "fiat currency", embodies evil in the context of regeneration and a typical economic system in which the implications of it having value are detrimental to the regeneration of the biosphere. So fiat money, as motivation for regenerative action, or as a catalyst for regeneration impact, is an unsatisfying balance of both good and evil, unless the process removes the fiat money from the system in which it gained its unsavory value and the removed money permanently loses its unsavory value. In this scenario evil money would be replaced by a currency of regenerative value that could only be exchanged for something else of equal regenerative value. So anyone wishing to exchange their fiat money for a regenerative currency must hold values and beliefs that motivate them to permanently relinquish the unsavory value of their fiat money. To me that eliminates from consideration ReFi systems that promise a fiat return on investment. And it requires us to be upfront and clear about the sense in which fiat money *is* evil, and how that sense informs the design of truly efficient ReFi systems.

Is possible to have some examples of how there has been a move away from nature-based solutions? The only example I saw given here were The Guardian, but my search for articles in The Guardian turned up only articles supportive of nature-based solutions. Thanks for any elucidation!

Love this. Thank you guys! ReFi for eco land stewardship, with a variety of value returns, ftw. Decentralized global network of rewilded regenerative spots that can protect land/forests and remediate carbon, and also act as postcapitalist creative community commons (nature and forestry education, large scale rural or urban flex community innovation hub makerspaces, ecovillages, free retreat hostels, etc). Potentially utilizing nonprofit community land trusts, + coordinating with indigenous people.

We dont need to save the earth. It was here before us and will be here after us. Plus, the planet is getting more and more suitable for life with all the co2 we put out. It was dangerously close to extinction levels of co2 prior to the industrial revolution.
