Grandpa, let me put some modified modern Renner Bluepoint hammers constructed, with Weickert felt and proper resilience/ inherhent tension, weight and density for the specific string scale, and voice them absolutely evenly, to your taste. And tune it, Stable! Im sure I would be your hero.

I'm a big fan of historical instruments but I have to admit I'm not all that enthused by Clara Schumann's music... it might be because she isn't played much, and perhaps she grows on you, but as it is I'd have preferred something else.

As I was practicing Chopin's Polonaise Op. 53, I was so happy to discover your master classes. Twenty years ago I was your uncle Xu Feiping's student. My studies with him were interrupted by his death. Xu was my last and most respected teacher, and I miss him all the time. I will never let down Teacher Xu’s teachings. I will continue to study and play and record all my favorite musical works. I had attended your concert at Carnegiehall many years ago. I will learn more from your masterclass videos now. Thank you!

Great interview. Ursula Oppens has been one of the most important pianists in the performance, recording, advocacy and teaching of modern classical music. I remember growing up in the 1960s and 1970s when I used to visit large record shops and seeing her name again and again on different LPs of modern and avant-garde pieces of piano music or ensemble music requiring the piano. Breathtaking warmth, commitment and virtuosity have been the solidifying elements of her place in music, which should never be forgotten as music history continues to be written. Thank you so much for posting this interview.

Watching this reminds me of the great series of classes last year, all the participants whom I came to like so much and from whom I learned a lot, and of course Hsing-ay, gently guiding and challenging us and cracking any code we couldn't (and there were so many of those).
