    Yeah that's BS... Especially if your air handler is in the attic or outside. In these cases, setting the fan to auto will be undoing all the work the heat pump or furnace just did. In the winter, your attic will be nearly outside ambient temperature. After your furnace or heat pump cycle ends it is no longer actively warming the forced air. Leaving the blower motor on beyond this point will just cool the air as it passes through the cold attic. Vice versa for summer.

    • @HeatingBarrie

      We are located in Canada and furnaces are not installed in the attics here.

    yes it is - I have a train resolute system and it operates very well and efficiently. My heating bills have been cut at least in half from my old fossil fuel furnace. The coldest we have gotten this year is -12°C and up to that point the exhilarate coil has not kicked in. So the unit is extremely effective at low temperatures

    Running a 1 horse power blower motor continuously will make your electric utility very happy. If it is an ECM motor, you will shorten its life and they are not cheap. Leave it set to auto and let your system cycle the way it was designed to run

    • @christopherhaak9824
      @christopherhaak9824 10 місяців тому

      Running a PSC or an ECM motor continuously for your furnace uses very little energy, in fact if it is an ECM fan, it's around $1 a month. As long as you change your furnace filter when needed, it won't hurt either motor at all.

    • @HeatingBarrie
      @HeatingBarrie 5 місяців тому

      Thank you for your insightful comment! You raise a valid point about the concerns of running a 1 horsepower blower motor continuously, especially when it comes to ECM motors and their cost. Our recommendation to keep the furnace fan running is based on the understanding that less frequent cycling can actually result in less wear and tear on the motor over time. Continuous operation helps maintain steady air circulation, providing consistent temperatures, improved air quality, and better filtration throughout the home. While it's important to consider the energy consumption aspect, modern ECM motors are designed for efficiency, and their long-term durability can benefit from avoiding the stress of constant starts and stops. We always encourage homeowners to weigh the benefits against their specific needs and consult with an HVAC professional to determine the best setup for their system. Your input is greatly appreciated and adds valuable depth to our discussion, helping everyone make more informed decisions. Thank you for being part of our community!

    • @georgewelker853
      @georgewelker853 11 місяців тому

      It’s not always a huge problem, if you have a good quality coil and it’s draining well it’s sometimes a big benefit especially with modern systems that slow the fan down drastically for fan on use

  • @znrctrnn
    @znrctrnn 11 місяців тому

    Thanks for admitting that a high efficiency furnace may only be with it in a cold climate due to the limited savings in a mild climate and the much increased price of an ECM blower motor.

    • @squirts1
      @squirts1 6 місяців тому

      Is the air handler in the attic? Your attic will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. So by leaving your fan ON all the time... you are heating and cooling your house simultaneously all the time. Just don't.

    I understood this process partially, what I did not understand is that after applying for the loan, do we get paid first or contractors get directly paid from the govt., considering rebates are different from the loan.

    My elderly mother has a house that always used to SMELL like “old lady house.” It was some kind of mold or mildew. So I discovered putting my fan to “ON.” Problem solved! Not only did my Mom’s chronic bronchitis go away, but that front bedroom that was always so much hotter than the rest of the house is much more comfortable. I sleep so much better, because it used to feel like hot-cold-hot-cold-hot-cold…you get the idea. The only time I like the fan on “AUTO” is in wintertime, because when the heat pump isn’t on, the fan would just be blowing cold air around, and Mommy doesn’t like any air blowing on her. She gets chilled easily in winter.

      Hi there, mini splits are some of the quietest systems on the market and extremely energy efficient. Typically these are installed in homes without ductwork, so they don't have a central air system. We would be happy to send you some information.
