I just had my battery replaced at auto zone, I had to go back the next day because my car wasn't starting or I was driving home and my radio completely shut off no power, my check engine light went on..turns out they left this box thing around the post loose. After that was tightened it fixed everything. But now I noticed my brights aren't working, checked my break lights, they are out too! Is it possible they blew a fuse? I guess that's what I'm gonna check first. Hopefully that will fix it.

I'm sorry David. I didn't have to take the mount off at all. Only the shield for the mount. I can't help you from here. I'm in Rome, Georgia. If you were close by I would drive over. Good luck.

watch and listen carefully at 1:00 forward. Watch how you have to spin it a little before you move it towards the front of the engine and toward the engine mount.

Thanks for the comment. This car had a bad AFR sensor. I replaced it and retested. It worked properly after. It had a check engine light on and I cleared it after repair. No more check engine light after long road test and monitors completed.

My turn signals work, I have replaced my brake light bulbs at least twice in the last 5 years (not the center) but the center is out as well. I also seem to burn through headlights quickly so I switched to LED. I really don’t have the time to be without a car any longer than the time it’s been down and I’m worried the dealership will just rip me off. I was a mechanic in the navy, I know a little bit (it’s been awhile) if you can help lead me in the right direction that would be great.

Yes. New oil filter cap and quality oil filter with new o ring. No sharp pick should be used to remove old o ring if reusing old plastic cap. Mann filter is what we used.

Villa Marina JC G’day mate, I’ve just noticed oil around mine this afternoon. Do you think it could be as simple as it leaking just around the cap itself? Just hoping I can take the cap off and put it back on and hand tighten it up. Or would you say I’m wishful thinking?

I’ve only bought my E60 about 5 weeks ago, I’m in Australia and I’ve been wanting to find some decent to buy parts from aside from buying from bmw if I can help it. Pretty broke at the moment.

Mann filter and O ring from my shop's warehouse and a factory oil filter cap if needed. A BMW is a terrible car to have if you have budget problems. You really have to love the car to make the financial sacrifice to keep it. I tell my customers I love to service their BMWs but it takes a lot of money to keep them on the road.

Same problem here for 2012 Elantra Limited, all 3 brake lights are off not working, however, the side bulbs are not burned and are on, but will not switch to brake lights while braking. Fuses are ok, brake light switch is ok too, and my cruise control works.

@@DeeluxyLife Honestly I fix it on my own not trusting what Hyundai or other mechanics said. I troubleshooted by Replacing first the brake light bulb the middle by the back window since it was burned out and tested it when I hit the brakes does it light it was good, then I replaced both tail brake lights and tested them and I was good and I am still good. Hope this helps you and everyone else.

How did you fix it my break lights will come on for my running light but when I press in the break nothing changes

Thw third brake light gets power from same circuit as left and right. Most likely bulbs. Possible wiring problem in trunk area. My money is on bulbs . You can check power and ground at sockets and see what's missing. Good luck.

Just fixed another one today. The Wix oil filter comes with the o ring for the cap. Today's leak was the o ring that only lasted 8 months before it started leaking. The o ring gets flattened on the sealing surface. Replacing all my stock with Mahle and we'll see how long they last. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Steering shaft trick worked on a 2012 Grand Cherokee. hardest part was getting the electrical disconnected. Thanks! Of course, the Chinese replacement starter was just enough larger that it wouldn't drop back in without moving the mount bracket GRRR!

Sarah Pinder will I be able to do this with the awd Durango on a jack stand with just the front left side jacked up and laying under or would it need to be on a lift so you have room to stand under? Wondering if I could just do it in my garage on a jack stand

Sarah. You are a life saver. This trick worked perfectly on a 2012 jeep grand cherokee laredo X with 4wd. The front axle and diff make this job very difficult as there is not much space to get arms or hands up. Removing the steering shaft made just enough room to slide the starter forward in the engine bay to remove it. Thank you so much for sharing this info.

terrancenelson2010 you can get to it from the back. Approach from the rear and you can get to it with an extension and a swivel.

Brian S . I don't know if the one in the video was awd. I have done awd and it's the same after you take the driveshaft out. I don't remember it being difficult to take the driveshaft out. It looks harder than it is. Make sure you mark the driveshaft and flanges or yokes so it goes back in exactly the same. Take a video and upload to UA-cam to show your problem. I’m having issues with my Hyundai same car in the video it’s a 2014 . The spoiler light wasn’t working. I replaced it with a new one and after replacing it it didn’t turn on but at the same time now the break light won’t turn on at all. I check most of the fuses and still no luck . Do you have any idea what could be the problem? Please please help.

I’m guessing after 4 years you’ve already solved the problem. For future reference, there is a guide for fuses and what they’re for in your cars manual

Gabriel Chukwuka it will make emissions worse and it will also affect performance. High emissions was the problem with this car.

drej car guy I've done the starter on the GC. I did unbolt the drive shaft and set it to one side. It's not that hard. You can do it.👍

Krash Bandicoot . I had a crank no start, no communication with the powertrain control module and blown fuse for the ecm power. I tried putting in another fuse and it blew right away. I jumped the fuse with my homemade tail lamp harness short finder and the bulbs lit brightly. I looked at a wiring diagram and started unplugging components in the circuit until the bulbs went out. I plugged everything except the 2 coils and the engine ran ok until I plugged in the bad coils. New coils fixed it.
