The next two episodes of LMTYS are gonna be peak because even though episodes 13 & 15 are decent, episodes 14 & 16 are both EASILY among the BEST episodes of the entire show so that’s gonna be 🔥 (I expect the rick glazing to truly start in the finale 😅)

54:04 a lot of people give this episode some slack for being one of the first true “bottle episodes” (since only Daryl and Beth appear and the story really only focuses on them and doesn’t really “push forward”), but I do enjoy this one for the development it gives them and like you said, that scene of them talking outside is genuinely great even though it started off humourous 💯

Comic Comparisons : The arc where Rick talks to Lori over the phone actually happens at this point in the comics after the prison battle because Lori’s death happens later in the comics than in the show Rick actually carries the phone with him.

Abraham was in the episode for 10 seconds and instantly displayed maximum aura 🙏

Luke and Molly were two kids from the prison group who had pretty much no relevance before being brought up here and found dead, so you guys are fine for not remembering them 😅

With Michonne ep 9, I do think her “mini arc” is meant to focus on her almost choosing to isolate herself again but changing her mind last minute. Really early in the episode she first sees the footsteps of Rick and Carl (which she went back to near the end), but purposely ignores them as a way of giving up hope and thinking they may be gone. Though after being alone for a while she has that nightmare about what her life used to be and losing others is what put her into that “walker pet ninja mode” till she met Andrea. Like you said, seeing that other black lady definitely made her think about herself and how she was “dead inside” and lost her humanity until she met others that brought her back (sounds a little corny in wording, but was more interesting on screen lol). That’s why she killed all those walkers instead of continuing to survive that old way she used to, and instead went back to the path to find the guys with optimism she’d find them again. I do think this is one of Michonne’s best seasons since it shows how much she grew since season 3, and in hindsight I defo think Mr. New Showrunner Scott Gimple was setting it up early that Michonne would take up Comic Andrea’s role as Rick’s love interest 💯

Very intrigued to see yall watch the parts you don't remember as well going forward, I'm still holding out hope that some of the characters (like Abraham) and arcs (like early Alexandria) that you don't remember too well will end up growing on you as you re-experience this banger of an episode run going forward 😉Outside of a couple of mid/stinky episodes I really do think that this episode all the way through seasons 5 & 6 is Walking Dead in pretty solid quality! I look back at how much this show was a pop culture juggernaut back in these times and wish we could get back there some day... 💔

Too Far Gone is really such a phenomenal episode, The Governor really went out with a bang and I love how impactful this final battle in the prison is fo the future of the show. One thing really understated about these earlier seasons of the show (mostly 1-6) is that the action almost always feels IMPORTANT, I love that the fights and battles don't feel aimless or lacking in weight for the plot and/or characters. Unfortunately that's something that gets lost later in the show *cough* season 8 *cough* 😅

About the Lori thing, apparently in that episode with the bloated walker there was supposed to be a shot somewhere else in that room of Lori's bloody skeleton after being partially chewed up by the walker, but AMC had the scene taken out since they thought it'd be "too much" (which is wild considering some of the other stuff they showed before and after that point). However, since they did that, it always leaves people confused as to if that walker ate her whole when it actually didn't 💀

R.I.P to Hershel great character who brought so much love his theme song R.I.P to the actor Scott Wilson who played this character and who sadly passed away from Leukemia 6 years ago Oct 6 2018 Age 76 He was the ultimate voice of reason right next to Dale and R.I.P to the Governor as well who was a great villain and did a great job at making us hate him great work by David Morrissey portraying this character.

Comic Comparisons : in the comics It’s Tyreese who gets decapitated his comic counterpart is actually introduced much earlier than in the show before they get to the farm the battle for the prison goes down a bit different The Governor is presumed dead for a while before he randomly shows up at the prison gates It should be noted that the Governor never kills all of his people or burns down Woodbury so he still had an army with him him becoming Brian Heriot is completely unique to the show I can’t remember exactly but I think their first attack failed Nonetheless they eventually bust through and kill a lot of people Hershel does die in this battle in the comics but not in the same way He begs to be killed after his son is shot right in front of him and the Governor grants him that Rick tries to escape with Lori and Judith but Lori who is carrying Judith is shot and falls to the ground killing both her and the baby after the Governor successfully wins the prison Lily who was already a member of Woodbury and dealt the killing shot on Lori realizes she also killed a baby and gets mad at the Governor when the Governor shows no remorse she shoots him dead in the head after that nothing more is said about the Woodbury group.

35:17 I saw somebody made a good video analyzing Tara’s role in the series and how it kinda lacks oomph, and he brought up a good point about how the writers never actually use the fact she was a cop in-training ever again, that could’ve made her more interesting 😅

Hershel really got to shine in episode 5, he (along with Rick, Carl and Maggie) carried the squad! Love that one, I think its pretty underrated and ends the sickness arc in a cool way

I do think s3 is a LITTLE overrated 😅, there's some great moments of course but as you said, a lot of the Woodbury stuff was just dull and in general I think the first half of the season had much stronger writing than the second half. Apparently the showrunner for this season (Glen Mazzara) went on a streak of just randomly taking out characters at the last second. Axel, Merle, MIlton and Andrea were all apparently last minute deaths (sourced from the TWD wiki/interviews)! He even proposed that in the prison attack where Axel got murked that they discussed it being Beth or even CARL who got shot instead 💀 Long story short, it seems like his way of doing things rubbed AMC the wrong way because he got fired and replace by Scott Gimple as showrunner in s4. Gimple gets a lot of well deserved flack for leaving the show in a poor state by the end of his run (in s8), but I do think he cooks for the majority of seasons 4-6 (don't sleep on early Alexandria, its cool!) minus a few bad moments. Looking forward to your reactions to those ones, I'd argue it's where the show hits its peak in terms of the overall storylines, development and main cast 🙏🏾🙏🏾 Though after that...the show does genuinely get mostly stinky from season 7 onwards 💀

I appreciate you guys giving credit where it's due to Laurie Holden. You see too often people not being able to separate the actor from their character so this made for a nice change. I believe the writers kind of screwed her over as the decision to kill her off was made very last minute and she believed she would have a lot more to do like that of her comic counterpart.

In the comics the Governor was let’s say sick af. He used all of those devices on Michone. In the end Michone did a lot worse to him, although sickening it was very gratifying.

I’m completely confused how you think Carl was being disrespectful to Rick, it was an actual genuine moment of him, telling his dad he’s under too much pressure and it’s ok to step back for a bit. You both immediately acted like Carl pissed on his shoes, an odd take.😮😊😂

Fun Facts: In the comics Tyreese was actually introduced into the group before they even get to Hershel’s farm Sasha and the other three characters don’t even exist in the comics. The Governor does get his eye taken out by Michonne in the comics but it’s much more gruesome First off instead of Maggie and Glenn being captured it’s Glenn Rick and Michonne The Governor cuts Rick’s hand off seemingly for no reason He then brutally rapes and tortures Michonne for days Nothing really happens to Glenn I can’t remember if he manages to escape or if they let him go Michonne eventually escapes and ties up the Governor She scoops his eye out with a spoon Cuts his arm off with her katana Drills holes in him with a power drill She leaves him in a pool of blood and he’s presumed dead. Andrea does exist in the comics but in a much different way She’s not on the Governor’s side she never gets separated from Rick and the group.

Definitely still one of the most groundbreaking twists in TWD history.

This was the episode in TWD that viewers realized that this was not a horror show about killing zombies This was a drama show about human struggles even in the Apocalypse.

I love this episode the ending is so important because it’s the struggle of leadership between Rick and Shane as Shane says Rick isn’t build for this world but then by the end of the episode Rick takes full leadership of the group by killing Sophia and doing what no one else in the group could do not even Shane Awesome reactions Adam And Claire can’t wait for the next one.

And this is where everyone started to see Rick as the leader Shane broke the doors but wouldn’t raise his gun to Sophia Rick did He took that responsibility so no one else would have to have that guilt In my opinion anyway Shane was a necessary evil yes but he made a situation and then couldn’t follow through on it Rick cleaned up the mess caused by Shane’s actions.

This episode was extremely heartbreaking for so many people it was a lot of people’s first moments realizing that The Walking Dead does not mess around.

About the Lori scene this is my take on the subject based on the scene alone and also one interview Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori’s actress) did way back when S2 ended. Lori isn’t actually mad at Rick when Rick says he killed Shane she’s kinda shocked and you know kinda sad after all Shane did matter to her and to Rick as well when Rick says he wanted to kill Shane she’s scared that he may be turning into the new Shane (and that final scene with the beginning of the Ricktatorship didn’t help it either) But what really destroys her is to learn that Carl was the one to put him down she’s blaming both herself and Rick for not being able to protect Carl from the horrors of this new world we can clearly see how much Carl is changing and now he had to kill someone who meant a lot to him at that moment she’s feeling so many things and she can’t process it she doesn’t want anyone touching her or talking to her she just need a moment to herself so she can take a breath and process everything. You can see it all in the facial and corporal expressions of Lori you can see she’s still close to Rick and absorbing all the information that Rick is giving to her I killed him/ I wanted to kill him however that bigger reaction only happens after Rick says Carl put him down you can see that’s when she goes away and don’t want Rick to touch her she wasn’t scared or angry at him she just needed a moment to take a breath and process everything.

That scene with Rick and Shane has got to be one of the best scenes in the entirety of the series.
