i heart gardening
Приєднався 1 бер 2020
Small urban edible landscape.
I garden in zone 3b in Alberta, Canada. I garden outside in the summer and inside during the winter.
When I bought my current house, it was new with a blank canvas for a yard. I initially started my landscaping with lawn and trees for privacy. Over the last few years my passion has for gardening has grown. I have now progressed into more vegetable growing. I have learned a lot along the way. I would like to share some of that journey and passion for gardening with you.

❤ All the information for edible landscaping. You have a lovely soothing voice (btw very nice to listen to as well as informative)!
Thank you so much!
Subscribed. Thank you. I've an area that really needs one of these.
Nadine, are the shrubs on each side of your deck steps spirea? Does that area get sun or mostly shade?
Yes, they are double play artist spirea. I would say part sun. They get sun in the morning and later in the afternoon.
@@iheartgardening9907 Thank you! I would love to have you do a video in which you name all the perennials you’ve interspersed with your edibles. Love what you’ve created!!
Nadine, I also have a small yard as well as quite a bit of shade, so discovering your youtube channel has been wonderful! Can you tell me where you got your self-watering containers?
The ones on the driveway are from Lowe's. So are the gray square ones on the west side of the garage. The gray rectangle ones I found at a local greenhouse.
@@iheartgardening9907 Thank you so much! I will be sure to check my local Lowe's and a few of the independent garden centers in my area. I have enjoyed watching your videos so much and hope you will continue to film your garden during the various seasons so we can see how it transforms from one season to the next. You live in a very cold climate, zone 3B/4A. I'm in Michigan, zone 6A/6B. I'm trying to include some winter interest shrubs/small evergreen trees into my small backyard landscape, while also providing some food for birds during the cold winter months. Gardening is my outlet for creativity and i use the winter months to plan for the next gardening season. I'm sure you do the same! Thanks again for sharing the info about the self-watering planters!
These are really great ❤️👍🎃. I love them. Never thought about doing this. Thank you.
Looks great!!! You are so creative 😍🖤🧡💛🖤🧡
Thank you!

Wow it looks amazing. I just subbed :)
Hello nice to meet you, beautiful garden
I should also say that in Calgary where I live, you can get free wood mulch from the city, but you have to load it. Not sure you would access to a pickup truck?
Yes, there is one eco center in my city that has mulch but apparently they didn't have any when I was looking. Believe it or not I loaded the compost up in the trunk of my compact car! I just lined it with a tarp.
Beautiful work and generous!!
Wow~ Wonderful Garden ^^ Include Like 8 , I leave 3 Presents. Have a good relationship. My friend, always stay Connected.
☺
Wow~~~~ Beautiful Garden~ Thank you for good sharing. Like 19 My friend, have a good day
Thank you so much
Lovely garden! Having edibles mixed in is a great bonus!
Beautiful garden! And what fun to do it as neighbors.
Thanks for your video, it gets difficult and expensive to replace the coconut every year. By the time the birds have made their nests from my liners there's not much left of them.
Perfect 👏🏼
Plastic liner is great idea. Thank you
😍😍😍😍👌🏽
I’d be interested to hear how that border’s performing now - I have a very similar bed and an obsession with heuchera!
Add some walking rocks to that area
Thank you for sharing your garden with us. i also adore your cute dog. Do you get very much rain in your area? J live in a subtropical part of Qld, Australia, and we get lots of rain. It brings many pests and diseases with it!
We have a dry prairie climate. Snow in the winter and some rain in the summer So cool that you are watching from Australia
Always good to get other people’s tips on what works where in the garden. I’ve just planted up a shady border and have put in most of your suggestions apart from the hosta - we have what seems like the national collection of slugs and snails so hostas, no. 😁 Thanks for your ideas.
what a great idea...i have several planters like this that i can apply this to....btw what zone are you in?? going by your accent, you sound northern....you can also use thin wire instead of zipties thus making no holes it will just go through the burlap easily. pansies won't last long they are a cold weather plant. what a great DIY video!!
Good job 👍 Looking very beautiful 💐
Thank you 😊
Really nice job. It looks great, such a cleaner look.
Thank you 😊
🤝🤝🤝🔔👍👉🙏🥀
I’m watching this video oct 23.21 and I really appreciate you showing how to add on to your garden. I’m hoping you kept the Japanese painted fern .. it’s an amazingly beautiful plant .. very fairy like and creative looking in a shade garden

Thank you!
Very good.👌👌👌
🌺 🌿 Cute 🌿 🌺 Dollar Tree or Dollar General Stores have plastic shower curtains for .99cents 👍🏼
Your soil look so rich. I have trouble with mosquitoes and get bit instantly when I go outside. What do you use for repellent
Very nice! How/where do you overwinter your creeping Jenny?
In the ground. I have it growing in a perennial bed.
Im new subscriber stay connected
Wow beautiful..
Very Creative 👍👍👍
Would love to see an updated in this shade garden.
That might be coming!
I would have left the grass, I’m just getting rid of some ornamental grass and that was not a easy job and letting the grass grow back. Were doing the opposite. Lol
Great idea, so glad you remembered to poke your drainage holes. Pretty too!
I love this idea! Did you post a status update? I just bought a roll of the coco fiber liner so I’ll like it with plastic and see how it turns out ♥️ Thanks so much!
Hi. I didn't make an update video. The project turned out well. The plants grew and I can use the burlap liner again this year. I'm unable to post a photo here on UA-cam. I posted a photo on facebook if you would like to see it: facebook.com/I-heart-gardening-105212781205423
Thank you for the great tips to making a better moisture holding burlap liner! I also like the ziplock idea to keep it in place. I plan to make one this year!! I also found some EZ Swap Fabric Plant Liners that I'm going to use instead of those coco liners:)
Thank you for your video! I'm disappointed about coconut liners as well and looking for some new ideas for my wire planters. Would you mind give us some updates on this project, please? Did these liners work better? Do they still usavel for the second year? What kind of staples do you use? Thank you!
HI Olga. I was very happy with the burlap. I will use this planter again this year. I just used regular office staples.
I am trying to use artificial grass to line my half round garden baskets to no avail any ideas please.
beautiful garden......
I love your plant room. I just subscribed to your channel.
Beautiful plants ... your planters too look so classy 😍😍
Thanks! Haha. Most of the planters are from the Dollar store, Ikea or Walmart.
What a gorgeous little corner! 💕
