My favorite part of this animation is that, throughout the battle Asgore has this menacing grin and honestly doesn't even look like 'Asgore' from a glance. However in that ending dialogue, as Frisk and Flowey get through to him, his voice returns to normal and he lifts his head, now looking almost exactly like canon Asgore. That scene in particular always gets me.

You know. I think this is a message to everyone. No matter how far you've fallen,there will always be someone out there who can see the good in even the pitchest black heart. Even the most evil can be brought back if shown the kindness it needs. Asgore is like us in a way. Filled with Anger. We take out our rage on everything and never seem to realize it's us to blame. Deep Down,we all can be suffering,being a Tyranical Ruler of a Ruthless Kingdom with no sense of morality. But deep down,our rage is a root of hurt,pain and suffering that turns into this hardened shell of anger,hate... and eventually,becomes something truly dark. But,when we never expect it,there will always be a Frisk out there,ready to see us become better,even if we have been unable to be forgiven. It's never easy,but sooner or later,we all can be saved from ourselves and become the best we can be. We can strive to be great,to be awesome and to be the bestest versions of who we are currently. We can all shine with golden rays of burning hot passion and love admist the twisting chaos of this scary world. I think we all need a Frisk in our lives. Someone who is DETERMINED to save us and to help us see our journey to the end as we work to strive and be better. Everyone needs someone loving in their life and I believe we all may find it if we believe in it. So to whoever reads this comment,make sure to stay DETERMINED. We all can have a Frisk inside us,and I believe in you.

Wouldn't not attacking Ashore possibly be motivated by a desire for punishment as well? It's clear the dude wants to be attacked, and not attacking them pisses them off. Attacking them would be giving them what they wants. It's like in that movie with Brad Pitt. Killing their wife's murderer is literally what they want. It would vindicate them. If they didn't shoot them, it would shatter their narrative.
