      @@BeyondChronicBurnout So many things really, but the big one was the idea of giving everything you have to others in order (in my case) to feel valuable and have purpose and earn my worthiness. I was in education in various contexts and positions and I thought that the stress and anxt I was feeling was 'just part of life and having a job.' I had skipped some grieving in my personal life as well. The crying in the field seems like such a cathartic moment, and I feel I might need my version of that to fully acknowledge all of the unprocessed grief and neglect of self.

    How can I feel my feelings if they all feel like scribbles 😭 I've been trying to get into alexithymia targeted therapy but the place hasn't gotten back to me

    • @BeyondChronicBurnout
      @BeyondChronicBurnout Місяць тому

      When I started and finally understood that I am alexithymic, that's a a great way to describe it "scribbles". I would feel all the feels, however had no idea what those were by name outside of sad, happy or scared. Burnout greatly impacts how feelings are experienced in the physical body especially is there is also an experience of trauma be it big T all the way to micro t moments that build up. One of the key elements for me and how I have come to name and recognize a large range of emotions and feelings in my body as a late identified autistic woman with co-occurring health conditions has been creating a new relationship with my body and experiencing internal emotional safety and self trust. Start in a gentle way. The most powerful step is to begin by journaling each day. It sounds cliche and super simple, however, the impact is massive. I began with a set of daily journal prompts that help me allow space to explore things about myself I had never even considered before. For example, what does my perfect day look like? What am I doing? Where am I? Who is with me? How am I feeling? What am I experiencing? What does it give me? Learning the words for a range of feelings is also a great place to start. Check out the more in-depth feelings wheels to get started. Hope this helps you get started as you find local support. I am here and happy to help and answer any questions you have along the way. I invite you to email me: energize@whittingtonwellbeing.com Sending you a energy boost, Carole Jean

    I’m an elementary school teacher for a large urban school district. We are given 10 days of PTO sick days. If we use 5 of them, it is considered “poor attendance” and if in a review year, we are given a “does not meet standards” for attendance. Working with young kids, 10 days is hardly enough time to protect us if we get sick, let alone needing mental health days. 😢. I take all my days nonetheless, and after 26 years, I don’t care about the review status. My well-being is a priority. Especially now that I’ve realized I’m AUDHD and need those days for recovery.❤

    • @BeyondChronicBurnout
      @BeyondChronicBurnout 4 місяці тому

      First, way to go you!!! Prioritizing yourself is huge and so very loving. Second, the broken education system again is not just harming our kiddos with attendance policies that don't allow for less than perfect attendance, it is also doing this to the most critical role in the system its teachers and staff. You and all your kiddos absolutely need health days and mental wellbeing days because until we change the education system to one that is of greater service we will continue to need them in response to the physical and mental stressors that it currently creates. Thank you so very much for being a teacher and for taking care of you! I'm here to be of service to you. -Carole Jean

    Such good advice. Sometimes the day is moving too fast to remember to check in. Or with time blindness, (I go back and forth between both experiences), I don’t realize how long it’s been since I had last checked in. I work as an elementary school teacher and am an AUDHDer. I actually need A LOT of check in for myself, but the job makes it hard to do. I ensure to have my quiet mornings before work and an hour to myself before bed to do this.

    Unmasking infront of co workers has gotten me into trouble...every single time. Once that person enjoys your personality, it becomes a drug. If you put it back on, then all of a sudden, that person doesn't enjoy you as much since you are now turned off and in autopilot and a shell of your actual personality. When you find that person who understands you, others become suspicious and cospire, you have an agenda against them since I open up to 1 and not all of them. Then people think I personally dislike them, but I genuinely know they never whoukd like me anyway.

      I'm sorry you've had this experience. There is so much to the harmony and alignment with our authentic selves in late identified life and the journey that brought us here doesn't always feel safe in the beginning. A lack of feeling belonging and authenticity are two of the biggest energy drains contributing to burnout in my research with emotional safety being #1. Unmasking or UnVeiling as I call it, is a reconnection and alignment with your higher self the self you have always been but that hasn't felt safe to emerge. Welcome, I am so glad you are here.

    Excellent video! I'm someone who only smiles when she's happy, and I actually do smile but some people think I don't because I always look like I'm bored or annoyed in photos (it's just my natural expression). I've always refused to do fake smiles for cameras and I'll be in my usual "mouth slightly open" expression in photos that I have all the time when everyone else is smiling, as a result, I got nicknamed "Sourpuss Jamie" by some as a kid for this. Funnily enough, when the sun's in my eyes I make that squinty face that looks like a smile and at first glance I look like I'm constantly smiling. and so people often take photos of me when I'm outside. Like in my photo taken at the beach last summer, I'm not actually smiling but making a "the sun hurts my eyes" face but I still love the photo so I use it everywhere (also, it's the only one that does a good job of hiding my turkey neck, I'm 23 and my neck looks older, sloped at a 45 degree angle despite the fact I'm quite thin, 130 pounds at 5'10"). Thankfully people stopped asking me to smile for photos because they know how uncomfortable it makes me.

      Burnout shows up in a variety of different ways based on neurotype, physical disability and co-occurring health conditions and is often misidentified. I had that happen and doctors thought it was "just my POTS" however it is not just one or the other it is how they layer together. I'm so super excited you are here and welcome!!! Fibro is part of your energy system and how you navigate your energy so it does factor in, however it is also important to discover the sustainable and abundant energy that is already yours and how fibro is part of your Energy Mastery. The first step is identifying your Spicy Pepper Burnout Level with my quiz, it will also tell you if you are not in burnout. This first step will help you get the road map to Energy Mastery that aligns with where you are today to make this easier and faster to reach your Thrive Destination. Let me know if you have a question or need a resource along the way, I am here to serve. Welcome to the community! -Carole Jean

    I am self diagnosed at the moment after having both our daughters assessed at the ages of 12 and 14 years old in November 2023, we are waiting for our son to be assessed for ADHD which although he's been on the waiting list for 2 years nearly and were told it will probably take another 2 years waiting before he is seen. UK NHS. Looking back I think my peri-menopause started in 2019 but I also ended up with a chest infection which moved into phenomena just before COVID was really taking hold in the UK, I noticed several signs like weight gain initially around my middle and even though until the phenomena I was active with 3 young kids I could never loose weight I don't eat much food or lots of sugar etc so there was no reason I shouldn't loose weight, well after that I had a couple of UTIs then all of a sudden the brain fog, face hair, exhaustion and I'm talking I could not sleep at night for the insomnia and the sheer exhaustion I was glad the kids were at school all day because I would be up all night unable to sleep for restless leg and anxiety and couldn't rest, then during the day I would fall asleep as soon as the kids were gone from the house at 8.15am and I could not even move until 3pm sometimes 4pm when or after they were home again, 😢 I have always not slept for long but I suddenly could not stay awake. I didn't get the night sweats that was the only thing in think, i get occasionally warm but not bad, when I was awake i had no energy so was basically making dinner and doing a wash load a day and then spending my time trying to sleep or being asleep. My bones especially my joints like my elbows and fingers and legs were in excruciating pain all the time , but it was the migraines that eventually when I had a 10 day migraine I gave up and went to the doctors after having researched all my symptoms that had taken from 2019 to 2023 to creep up onto me...me going to the doctors after self diagnosing myself as being in perj menopause was the best thing I ever did she put me straight onto patches and i had a blood test which showed me as suddenly being type 2 diabetic even though i hardly eat and don't eat excess junk foods etc (she confirmed that it was probably brought on because I was sleeping soo much and unable to exercise because of the exhaustion and so it was peri menopause induced through inactivity) well within 3 months of being diagnosed as type 2 my bloods were taken again and were back to levels well below the markers for type 2, so now my hormones are sort of in check with the patches the brain fog has gone I don't feel like I'm going mad anymore and I can sleep for 4 hours straight at night and I have been awake most days all day since 2 days after starting the patches. I wish I had known the other symptoms of peri menopause as in had 13 side effects in total when i totted them up, itchy skin (all the time) being another of them too. I saw my doctor in July 2023 and had been suffering in silence for around 4 years before realising something wasn't right. I think there needs to be a proper study into neurodiversity and the effects of peri menopause and menopause because I had to dig deep to find the information that I found all while suffering with imposter syndrome about if I might be autistic as well because of the research that sounded like my life story when reading up on autism in girls while waiting for them to be assessed. I also wonder if the study should include people that self identify as autistic or ADHD or both. I had my 3 kids from the age of 32 my eldest is 14 now, middle daughter is 12 and our son is 10. I will be 47 next month and I am still undecided if I should be assessed myself. I was mortified when after having such awful painful periods from the age of 10 my whole life when my middle child also started at the age of 10 the first day of starting year 6 and both girls have both experienced Painful periods so I made sure they were seen by the doctor because it was awful watching them suffer like I did. They have both been put on a mini pill which has helped a lot with pain. I just wish that had been an option for me when I was 10 I missed out on soo much due to cramps that went on for months...... Sorry for the rambling I just feel us women deserve to finally be heard, and that more study need to happen for Autistic and neurodiverse women and self diagnosed women to be included in the studies too. 😊

      Helen, thank you so much for sharing your story and journey. It is so important that we do share and let others know they are not alone and that experiences can encompass so many different things. You have so much to share on the other side of this and your girls are very lucky to have you as their momma so that they have a better experience through womanhood. Sending you all the best!!! - Carole Jean
