Jesmonite AC100 vs AC730
Переглядів 15 тис.2 роки тому
Claire is back with a handy comparison of Jesmonite AC100 and AC730! Jesmonite AC730 is very different to the AC100 but just as beautiful! It has a longer work time and cures in around 4 hours. It is also weatherproof, heatproof and non-combustible. Most excitingly though is that gorgeous texture ready to be revealed by acid etch or white vinegar. Stunning! Have you tried both yet? Which do you...

We sent Claire at Claire's Crafty Corner some Jesmonite pigments to complete her collection, and here is the result! As Claire says, you can vary the amount of pigment you use to get different intensities of colour. 2% pigment will give you the most intense colour (for example, 2g of pigment in a 100g coaster.) You can also mix pigments together for an infinite range of colours! Let us know in ...

    But this video doesn't tell me how much using the actual amount of recommended retarder will increase the time by. Could we have a more scientifically accurate video please? (Nothing against Claire, she's fantastic, but its really hard to find this specific information out there in video form).

    Jesmonite calculator never gives me enough for my mould that I’m filling. And it’s always thicker than in the videos and I have checked my calculations, all spot on! Sets very quick. I wonder if this powder has a expiry date maybe that’s why it’s thick.

    Hi.Claire, loving your videos :) Can I just double check the ratios with you, you have recommended 2-8% that meaning 2g out of every hundred. Other sites say 2-8 grams per kilo meaning 2 grams per thousand grams. Hope that makes sense, just checking as I think I over did the retarder the other day 😝 Absolutely love your videos and warm personality 🥰

    Hello,thank you for your lovely videos..it really helps a lot.May I know if you use a wet sanding paper or a wet/dry one?Also can I use an electric sander with wet sanding paper?I have a small mouse sander and find it difficult to sand large terrazzo pots but I still dont know if i can use my mouse sander with my dry sand papers😏

    • @polysil5999
      @polysil5999 2 роки тому

      So glad they help! We always prefer wet sanding for a smoother finish (and you can wash and reuse the same piece as you go!) We wouldn't recommend using anything electrical around water for safety reasons, but check with the manufacturer if you're ever in doubt. You could try using a dry sand with your sander at first, then refine with wet sandpaper by hand after 🙂

    what u mean not good for candle vesiles? can u put candles in the a100? i though that was what some od the molds were for the have candles stand in them

    • @polysil5999
      @polysil5999 2 роки тому

      Hi Vicki. It gets a little complicated, but AC730 is 'non-combustable', meaning it does not burn, whereas AC100 is 'fire resistant', so while it won't catch fire easily, it would combust in a fire. We'd always advise using AC730 for candle vessels, and to research safety requirements if you're making products to sell.

    Love the colours & can I ask I’m new to jesmonite & watched most of your videos. Can I ask I get loads of pin holes in bottom but only after sanding. I sand straight away is this my problem should I wait the 24hrs? Will it reduce the pin holes🙏

    • @polysil5999
      @polysil5999 2 роки тому

      Hi Kathy, thanks for watching! The little pinholes are tiny bubbles that haven't quite made it to the surface and are only revealed after sanding. There are things you can do to reduce them, though: 1. Tap and vibrate your mould for as long as you can to help the bubbles to the surface 2. Add a couple of drops of Jesmonite retarder. This thins the liquid a little, allowing more bubbles to escape and gives you much more time to tap before it sets 3. Pour your Jesmonite in a slow thin stream, this allows the bubbles to pop on the way down 4. Use a cocktail stick to pop any visible bubbles. Waiting longer to sand probably won't make a difference, as the bubbles can only escape at the liquid stage. Hope this helps! 🙂

    Great video, great product. So glad we have the option to slow down the hardening time so we can get more space and opportunity to be creative with colours. Especial with larger deeper set molds like pyramids etc. Exciting. I am very new to Jesmonite, and was contemplating working with a little cement, as well as resin. Now I am really keen to find out about this eco friendly, bio-degradable, easy to use, natural looking casting material through direct experience and person play. It is bringing out the inner child in me, and the creative adult I didn’t really know within me? So good to discover Polysil in the UK. And Claire, your energy is so vibrant and infectious too.
