I wonder how the show would have been had Mr. Wendall remained the Legendary Audience Warm-Up person. They seemed to remove the live version of him when the show moved to CBS. Thank-You for sharing. This was an exciting time in BROADCAST Late Night Television.

Alan Kalter wasn't the announcer yet, baseball went on strike, MJ was on hiatus from the NBA, and played baseball, WCIU 26 was on its last days as a spanish language network (Univision) before moving to WGBO 66, and WCIU becoming an independently owned English broadcasting station.

This is the best version of the Letterman theme. Punchy. Upbeat.
