In those days lots of people experienced some sorts of abuse, unfortunately because more and more people becoming unsecure due to social media expectations and not knowing how to get where they want, they becoming abusive to the one closest to them. Combat social anxiety? Without social anxiety we would become obnoxious and loud and make rash decisions which we will regret by the rest of our life. Social anxiety is not all bad - without it we would develop narcissism and borderline issues of harassing other people around us - since we would lack empathy and ability to learn and be aware how our words are harming others. Then when everyone would leave us since we are toxic - we would end up with social anxiety once again. When we no longer have narcissistic supply : other people admiring us. We worry in social anxiety due to Complex Trauma - which you never mention in the video. Instead your reasoning is that we are choosing and creating social anxiety. This is CBT view of social anxiety. In reality - social anxiety is totally normal reaction to toxic people and us experiencing abuse and mobbing and bullying. Which means toxic people trigger our social anxiety - abnormal anti-social people who are rude to everyone. Social anxiety starts in childhood with ACE and aCoA which you never mention in this CBT video. Idea to rewire our brain will spiral into deep core toxic shame where we will end up with believing our identity is abnormal and sick. Exposure will never work - because we will repeat our learned coping mechanisms from ACE and ACoA childhood, such as denial and dissociation and over thinking. Social anxiety is suppressed anger issue. We never learned how to feel, label, process or let go of our anger. This has nothing to do with neurotypical shame for talking at parties or giving a presentation.
