In this custom integration demonstration, Hyperion and KUKA teamed up to showcase a potential use of KUKA AMRs and a six-axis robot that brings added safety and efficiency to any production where humans work alongside robots.
The six-axis robot uses SICK 2D and 3D cameras to accurately capture an image of the pallet and the objects on it, and efficiently transfers the goods.
Meanwhile, AMRs ferry goods between the palletizing robot and the pallet stands. They move on pre-programmed paths, and track which pallets are empty or full.
The KUKA six-axis robot, with AIRSKIN safety technology, detects changes in air pressure to bring the machine to an immediate stop. AMRs are factory-built with sensors that constantly scan their surroundings and automatically bring the robot to a safe stop when an obstacle is detected.
