Turkey Poult Hatch Day!!
Переглядів 1908 років тому
We purchased twenty eggs from a breeder in the area, and after a long 28 days of waiting the poults are here! 14 out of the 20 were fertile, and out of that 14 we had 12 make it full term and hatch successfully.

Introducing the New Turkey Tom into the Flock
Переглядів 35 тис.8 років тому
Today we put our new turkey tom into the run with the rest of the flock. The pre existing rooster and him had a bit of a tussle for dominance, but neither were injured any and it was necessary to let it happen to maintain a happy flock where everyone knows their place. Now they're all getting along fabulously.

Clearly people in the comment section have no clue about pecking orders and how they’re established. Turkeys are docile and roosters just learn to respect the larger animal. Thank you for posting the reality of keeping a mixed flock and how life on the farm is. Internet idiots are the worst

Where do these bozos come from? I never kept chicken and even i know having them figure out a pecking order is a normal and important process. I also don't think it's wrong to watch them and get some sort of entertainment from it since it happens anyways. It's not like it's illegal chicken fighting or something. You guys need to grow up, seriously.

that s not funny, if you had any idea about farming you d know you never put similar animals of very much different sizes LOCKED up in an area, it s basically animal torture and you re laughing.

LOL.....Turkey vs. Rooster, they both got moves, but the Rooster being shorter, gets under the Tom's wings and tailfeathers so it should be just the Tom just sit on the Rooster! lol..and the outcome Rooster 0 Turkey WIN! :D btw, uprated and subbed! :)

Female poults will strut too. We had one female poult who was bigger than everyone else cause she hatched first who would strut and push her brothers who are now full-size toms around. She is tiny next to them now but she would bully them when they were babies.

Congratulations on your wedding, loved this tour of your homestead, that yellow "squash", don't know what they look like but could that yellow fruit be a "lemon cucumber"? Cute li'l chicks sure have grown alot, no longer covered in down but in feathers, and the turkeys have grown much as well, seen you also have some guineas and those black birds, black australorps? Thumbs up, thank you for sharing. :)

lol....my buddy Paul from Lifeinthailand was raising quail babies, and when incubating the eggs, he put in a turkey egg, out hatched a young tom but when it came time to have him join the turkey flock(chickens and ducks as well), Young Tom wanted to stay with his quail bros and sisters! You have beautiful turkey poults, I can only imagine when they're full grown how beautiful your turkeys are!

    • @elysianacres9462

Tprop12 I wish I could! Our area has extremely active predators and lots of hawks, (and a couple eagles) so we've even had to cover the top of the chicken runs with wire netting to protect them and keep predators from killing our birds.
