Gen 1 Genesis
Приєднався 8 січ 2024
This channel will be mostly about the first generation Hyundai Genesis sedan (BH). Now that I no longer have my Hyundai NF Sonata, might as well make a channel for the BH :). Anything and everything about the BH; hopefully this channel helps anyone with videos and some tutorials.
Kia Optima Fog Lights Onto a Genesis Sedan 5.0 R-spec
Have seen a few of these both in Korea and stateside, but haven't really come across any videos talking about it. So I decided to make one. Am sure there are different ways to do this, but this is the method we chose.
This video outlines the steps to merge a 15-16 Kia Optima fog light covers onto a 09-14 Hyundai Genesis Sedan bumper. My particular setup includes FNB front lip so the results may look a bit different compared to a stock look.

2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 Rspec Lower Grill Modification

The lower grill on a BH (12-14) Genesis sedan looks fine, however, something didn't look complete on mine as I have the M&S upper grill. This modification shows the process of matching the two grills. Also added my replacement KGSplitter front lip. My original one flew off on the hwy months back. I also modified the M&S mesh itself to match the lower on. Now it is much cleaner and a bit more ag...

12 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec custom front camera install
Переглядів 30311 місяців тому
Having a front lip on a lowered car is great, but it comes with the nuisance of fearing you're going to hit a curb at every destination. Installing a front camera will help you and prevent you from having to run out and check. Parking sensors are usually placed to high on the bumper to protect your aftermarket lip.
What is the camera you used? And where did you connected the camera for power
Yo I got a 2013 5.0 rspec where you get those headlights from
Where’d you get that Wing? I need it!
Where did u get the harness for it
This is so clean.
Thank you!
Nice car 👍 how long you had it? I want one
Since 2018 I have had a few BH sedans....so it's a been a minute i have been with these cars. This one was had since 2019. :D
@Gen1Gen @ Thanks for responding I'm looking at some they are nice looking cars. Hopefully I will get one as nice as yours 🤔
@@MM-zm5qx In stock form, the Rspecs are really beautiful cars. The rims are really good looking for OEM...the suspension is also not bad as far as height and the 45 height on the tires fill in the wheel gap...again for stock, it sits nicely! Good luck in your search. Try to get 2013 or 2014 if you can.
@Gen1Gen @ Ok thanks appreciate you taking the time to answer back take care of that nice car.🤔
@@MM-zm5qx Will do. She is good for now. Bought a cheap rspec and been trying to restore that to tip top shape....just did the valve cover gaskets and now cylinder 6 is misfiring so gotta replace that today *sigh*
Where did you get the grille?

Issues with displaying actual temperature only in Celsius. Sir, I would like to thank you for taking the time and making this video. I recently installed a Teyes CC3 2K in my 2013 Hyundai Genesis Sedan. My Genesis came with the Base Package. For over a month I been communicating with Teyes's engineers trying to resolve the HVAC temperature display issue. The radio display would not respond to HVAC temperature change. I tried your recommendation, which you provided to another reader. "Hold down Dual and Mode for 3-4 seconds." It worked! The display temperature responded to the up and down buttons. However, it only worked while switched to Celsius. When I switched it back to Fahrenheit. It stoped working. Any idea on how to keep it working in Fahrenheit?
i got a similar hyundai as yours and i wanna mine to be like yours, can you give the details where ‘ mechanic shop’ you did yours ?
Great video very informative. I'm new to the Android head unit swap world. I'm looking to put this into a 2012 Hyundai Genesis with tech package. I see that the CANBUS does so much in allowing for stock operation. I'm a bit confused at you as to what wiring harness I require. As mentioned I have a 2012 Hyundai Genesis with tech package my head unit has navigation and Lexicon system, however I do not have a DIS knob. So from what I can tell there seems to be three options for wiring harnesses, base harness, a harness for tech package and then when I look at the DUDU site they ask about fiber optical connection version. Would you know which I require? Would this fiber optic connection open up other options that don't seem to be available with units that might be one or two years older? What I seem to have gathered from your video is that separate AM FM antenna and GPS antenna need to be installed as the factory antennas cannot be used, as well as XM antenna. Is this correct? I have a specific question regarding the rear backup camera. I have been looking at the DUDU7 unit as a choice if heqd unit. Looking at DUDU AUTO website I have come across a piece of text that seems to indicate the factory rear camera can be used if all I want to use it for is backup camera. However if I want to use streaming or recording functionality I need to install a new camera. Does this make any sense to you? And with that mean I have to run cables from the head unit all the way to the back camera Or can stock wiring be used? Thanks so much I wait for your input.
If you do not have the center knob, then I believe you have non-tech package - As far as connectivity, it looks like you shouldn't have any issues. Sellers usually send both wiring harnesses for the BH - so the base or the one with navigation - So you should be good on that end.
How’d you do the grill. I wanna do this to mine but keep the chrome on white and black the grill
It's an aftermarket grill (M&S)
Can you contact me please
I'm sorry I'm not about to pay $2,000 for those headlights but I love my Genesis so much you never know
lol I hit a deer so I kinda had to replace them.
Watching this video was very helpful about the antenna, I wasn’t getting anything on a adapter for my 2012 genesis. Thanks 💪🏿💯
Where did you get the material from?

Gorgeous. But to be honest it looked sick in the before pic too. Too bad Hyundai never gave us an option to boost.
The before picture was already modified with the Kia optima fog lights fused into the bumper. Stock bumper on these are not too bad. Just kinda blend. lol
where did you get the fogs
i got them as a gift some 8 years ago lol but you can get them anywhere on ebay or amazon. It's a 2015 Kia Optima fog. Obviously they're not for this car; it's custom retrofitted into the Genesis bumper.
Cleaaan
Thank you !
I think this is a great Idea and I am capable of handling the installation but from the comments it just seems like everyone is having some type of problem with the units and the compatibility to our cars. Do any of the units work properly. they all claim to be plug and play but from the tube I see there are a lot of problems.
Its not the units that are the problem, it's really just the BH Genesis with the DIS knob (i.e. tech package). People with Touchscreen navigation (No center knob), have no issues. Also the base trims obviously have no issues. It is just the way the tech package is wired and because that center piece is bypassed, the stock amp is not being triggered. I am using (2) external amps and new door speakers so I am bypassing all the stock sound system but just recently bought a daily beater (also an Rspec). So this time I should be able to make video of actual installation while using stock amp/speakers.
So to answer your question, any units purchased with the correct wiring harness should work plug and play IF you have a base trim or a touchscreen navigation (i.e. no center knob). If center knob, you do have to find a way to trigger stock amp.
Is there a reason why after installing I’m not getting any audio at all?
Which trim do you have? Base or touchsreeen navigation or navigation with center knob?
Dope! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thx!
Are the connectors the same or did you have to rewire it?
Excellent question: the BH fog wiring will sort of fit and make contact in the kia optima fog light, but it's not snug. I put a small tape around it. Basically, the Genesis fog light has the two ears ...one of each side and that's what "clips" into the fog light. The kia optima, on the other hand, has the one clip in the middle that grabs and secures. To do it right, you could probably buy or make your own adapter with some pieces from findpigtails dot com.
not sure why my reply didn't stick on this one. This is an excellent question. The Genesis fog light wiring will make contact on the kia optima fog end...but it is not 100% snug. I put a small double sided tape on the inside of the pig tail. The Genesis wiring has the two ears that clip and secure to fog whereas the kia optima has the one ear in the middle. Sightly different design. If you want to do it right, you could probably make your own connection with findpigtails dot com stuff
Clean 😮
Thx!
Do you have a link for the 13 inch model?
I dont have a link and for some reason i cant post links on this youtube (which is frustrating) but look up aliexpress and search for key words hyundai genesis rohens android radio. That should yield the results with the correct bezel. I noticed they even came out with the 12.3 inch going horizontal....looks very similar to like Genesis GV screen. Only issue I see with it is that it blocks almost ALL of the AC vents LOLLL
I found it. Now I have to watch again and make sure I find the other stuff. Thank you so much.
My climate change doesn’t work properly.. Where do you access the CANBUS select and which one is right for the Genesis 12 tech package ?
It's gonna depend on the actual unit you purchased and what drivers were uploaded by the seller. Unfortunately they do not upload the correct from factory (not sure why they don't). Look for Hyundai and Raise - For the canbus settings, it's usually deep in the "factory settings" - the one that requires a passcode. So it would help to also look up the passcode for your unit. They are not all the same....unfortunately. but a quick google search should have your answer. And also, what do you mean it doesn't change properly? When you press buttons, does the interface actually show up? IF your issue is that the HVAC info is displayed but the temp does not change while you physically press the up/down temp, then all you have to do is press "dual" and "mode" at the same time for about 3-4 secs - hold those until the unit will change to celcius (C). Once it does that, temp should change as you press up/down buttons.
Hello , I have a Hyundai Genesis Tech package 2012 . I have the 2nd power harness with the CANBUS you demonstrated but still not getting any sound at All . I connected the AUX cable provide with the RCA Line on the back of the radio and still No Sound . In the factory setting which one is for my 12 Tech package ? Can you or any body help please ?
I’m having the same issue. I have an 09 with tech package and no sound. I have a wiring diagram for the car. I will mess with it tomorrow and see if I get any further
@@eldominicangq i believe the issue you are facing is that the stock amp is dormant because the main DVD player is being bypassed. Its that stupid DIS knob that is relaying the amp trigger.....if the DVD is not operational (which it's not once you connect the harness of the aftermarket radio), then the amp will not 'wake up." On the harness from seller ,there should be one that is labeled amp con - this needs to connect to the amp in the trunk. Either via wire that has to be ran or finding a way to trigger it at the head location. I finally bought a daily beater and it's an rspec so will be able to do some testing.
@@Gen1Gen In the 10:07 when talking about the Harness .. How did you manage to connect the Head that goes to the Radio (back of DVD) to the Main car Harness ? I have the Same Harness and my configuration is to connect the one you have in hand on the Radio and the other one in the Main Harness of the Car . Is there a way (Email) I can send you some pictures to show you ... ?
@@YUYUFX email me at djhansr at gee mail - basically where the confusion is (i was in the same boat), you are bypassing the DVD player. The DVD player was the source which connects to a display (monitor)....now you are replacing the source with a unit that acts as the source as well as the display AND as well as control (touchscreen). The previous setup use three different equipment for that (dvd is source - i.e. radio/dvd player / mp3 player etc...) now its all on the touchscreen. The harness from the car has to connect to the harness from new android unit.
@@Gen1Gen If you have the model with the Fiber Optic cable (Lexicon sound system) where did you connect to fiber optic cable to get the sound out of the Radio ? Because there is no speaker wire that is going to the Headunit also no Entry for the Fiber optic . Please tell me How did you solve this .. .
Is there a good aftermarket microphone that can be used with this android deck. The microphone that comes with it is useless.
I think there should also be an internal mic (usually there is a pin hole at the corner of the screen)....or you can plug in the external one. The input for those seem to be the regular 1/8" jack so I assume any passive mic meant for android units should work. Shouldn't be brand specific as it's just a mic input.
I jjst looked up Amazon and they have a bunch on there

Hey, I don't think this bezel would work with the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe GT. I've been scouting Ali Express for various options since I don't like the buttons on the tablet, and I've seen many advertise 2013 but have this custom bezel. Am I missing something?
Yeah, this definitely won't fit a Genesis coupe as bezels are completely different. I did notice that Chinese store put the word "Rohens BH" for both the sedans and coupes....which is obviously not correct...can't be for both. I think the technical word for coupe is the Rohens....at any rate, I actually have found radios for my car using that term lol
Any issues with climate control not working?
No issues. If you have the correct canbus decoder and put the correct driver in the can settings it should work just fine.
Could you provide the links for everything in the video, would like to not be scammed on eBay lol
LOL for some reason I can post links on this youtube channel. Just google these keywords 13" android radio 2012 hyundai genesis sedan - I think there is another manufacturer on AE - mine on this video is a naviguide - The one that i see available is on aliexpress...not ebay. Just fyi

I got the 2011 Hyundai equus it's got the same screen you have the same knob and I was wondering if that wiring harness would work since it's exactly the same
You would have to get the radio with the bezel that match the equus though. I did some quick searches for your year car and dang...I thought the BH sedan was scarce for aftermarket radios...seems like they don't have much for the equus if any that I could see.
damn bro where did you go to get that head unit install?
You can get these anywhere from ebay to Aliexpress. Look up 13" android radio for BH rohen 2012 hyundai genesis. Should pop up. Theyre all relatively the same. THe price will be dependent on which exact features you get: RAM / harddrive size / screen resolution / how many processor / processor size

Headlights???
Prada headlights for the 2009-14 hyundai genesis sedan. They are considered "OEM" as they were available for the "Prada Edition" Genesis made in Korea. They are "plug and play" but since Korea didn't have AFLS feature in their market, your dash AFLS light will come on unless you repin the harness or you swap the AFLS unit to something made in Korea. Or you can just not worry about it. My headlights work just fine and cant tell AFLS is actually doing its thing bc of where I live.
Where did you get the genesis logos when you open the door?
It was either Aliexpress or Temu - Either will have it. It's basically the ones that are meant to be drilled into the door panels at the bottom. I just chose to drill the courtesy light lens. Both would work. I just prefer this method because I have done it through door panel before and the small contact each time you open and close door finally shattered the lense on the projector. The door light lense tucks further back so it should have any contact. x-ing fingers.
It's crazy you gusy are so enthusiastic about this series of Genesis. I have a 2009 and it's been a nightmare. So many factory issues. from the rear shocks feeling like you're going over curbs on bumps, battery drain from the under hood sensor not making contact with the anti-theft, radio sound getting louder and or lower randomly at times, and now i'm dealing with a diode that caused my brake lights not to work. It's also a huge gas guzzler more than any other car i've owned. i'll never buy another Hyundai again after this nightmare.
Sorry to hear about your experience. This is my fourth BH sedan; (2) 2013 3.8s and (1) 13' 5.0 Rspec and (1) 12' 5.0 Rspec (this one in video). Never had those issues you mention but of course the 09 is the first year of production of the Genesis so there is bound to be issue. Like all other cars, it will have its fair share of issues; still the most bang for buck you can find out there though.
@@Gen1Gen yeah they fixed the shocks or rear suspension in 2010. i also have the 4.6 so thats why it kills gas. the battery drain is super annoying tho. they even came out with a new part(a bigger rubber stopper) and discontinued the old one to address this but didn't work for me.
@@doc-vg9lq Not sure how many miles your 09-10 has now, but i always shop for these cars ever since 2018 and the pre-facelifet pre GDI engined ones are like dirt cheap now.
I have 2 Genesis 09 and 13 V8s and absolutely nothing wrong with mine...my 13 just got crashed so I'm looking for another genesis.
@@doc-vg9lqwhat do you consider as “kills gas”? My 4.6 gets pretty solid fuel economy considering how much power it’s supposed to make. I usually average about 21mpg through my average work week which includes a decent blend of city driving and highway. If I fill up and then head out of town on the interstate it’s usually 26-28. I’d say not bad for 385hp in a 4xxx lbs car.
Im not getting any audio on my tech package. I just ordered a rca to 3.5mm cable .. to use the rca audio from radio to my aux port since my nav buttons like radio and aux still work. It wasnt bypassed. Ill let everyone know tomorrow and ill upload a video
Id be surprised if that works, but let us know. The input (aux usb etc) in the center console is connected to your DVD Player,,,which you are essentially replacing....so there is not connection to it. But let us know how it goes. What you probably need to do is run a "wake up" wire to your rear amp.
@Gen1Gen rca to aux works just got it in mail. I'm getting sound from my andriod auto, calls and fm radio of course with the antenna I bought. On my calls it's using th3 car mic. I have to make sure I press the aux button to get sound since it didn't bypass the nav buttons I am using a noise filter adapter for my aux port. Now all I have to do is the back up camera 😆
@@Grandwizardx Ah ok, interesting. Glad it worked for you! I think a member told me that he did the route you did and he was getting hella hums...thinking it's a ground loop issue. But hey if it works that way, then that's good!
And funny you mention back up cam; have to look into mine. Just today, the feed went out LOL I suspect it's the power wire or the RCA Video wire. I actually think there is a way to tap into the existing camera wiring without taking the trunk sleeve off. It will require two of the same adapters - (1) power to rca (kinda like a line level converted) at the screen side (wire should be the one of the ones that connect to original screen), and the other is same adapter but where camera wire is. Idea is to convert the stock yellow (or organge) / black / red wired into a power + rca. The converters should work in theory. This would avoid having to take trunk sleeve off and utilizing stock camera.
Which brand do you have for the 13inch head unit ?
Look for Naviguide Y1 13" Android radio 2012 hyundai genesis
Appreciate it. I can’t find the canbus for that radio from naviguide so I might use kj-Navi’s 13” since it comes with the canbus
