The video discusses three Russian-Ukrainian wars: 1917-1918, 1919-1921, and 2014-2024. Common features of these wars are identified: in all of them, Russia began with attempts to undermine Ukraine from within, and subsequently, puppet states were typically established to conceal the aggressive nature of these wars, presenting them as civil wars among Ukrainians. #Russian-UkrainianWar #Ukraine #...

By far the most confusing emperor. I honestly think he was kind of a genius to stay alive as long as he did.
He is a decent emperor, but completely inadequate as a man

Humanity likes to imagine world events happening in an instant. Such as humanity's belief of judgment day. But im certain it happens slow and steady like the "Epidemic" you mentioned.
Interesting remark. I need to think about it

An epidemic? Why should i believe your lie over theirs? At least theirs was written down. I doubt the Assyrians would go back and write down they were obliterated by an angel.

great video. one question- 18:50 , if the Persian army was actually professional rather than of 'conscripts' as mainstream ideas, how would the discipline break so easily? I understand that the Immortals would have fared better than regular line, but my question stems from the common idea conflicting with new research. Old ideas lean heavily on the school of thought that the Greeks were superior in battle, not just because of the heavier formation but also because the Persians had low morale, simply going whether the King tells them. But if the new research pushes that the Persians were professional soldiery, in that they did nothing else but that, then how would hardened combatants fare so poorly to "bakers, carpenters, etc"? To reword it, throughout history, there are many cases of 'militia' level forces defeating seasoned veterans, whether is it the English yeoman halting French charges, American revolutionaries pinning down British regulars, Vietcong frustrating American GI's, the Mujaheddin forcing the Soviets into withdrawal, etc. But in the case of Marathon, it's a bit more dire, and command and control more direct. Therefore curious as these dedicated fighters fared so poorly man for man. It was mentioned that they have cohesion and what would have been espirit du corps, so.. just how did they make contact, and collapse so easily, "...the surrounded Persians lost their ability to resist and their 'sole concern' was to break through the Greek formation and reach their ships". I would have gathered that trained soldiers would have needed to have enough of a cohesion to perform the breakout, and if the Persians were professionals instead of warriors, they wouldn't have simply dissolved so quickly from 'one of the most feared armies of their time' into a mass of everyone simply fighting for themselves. At both Trebia and Cannae, the Romans had enough cohesion to fight a breakout. At Marathon, the encirclement was less total, yet, it seemed that their route was more complete. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for the comment! I cannot speak for the entire Persian army, but the "Immortals" were definitely professional soldiers. Similarly, I cannot say with certainty whether their morale was high or low, but I can definitely say that they had a high sense of esprit de corps. As for individual martial skills, I assumed that the Persian "Immortals" had higher proficiency because they were constantly at war, whereas the Athenians fought only intermittently. Moreover, the Greek shield was not designed for individual combat; it was meant exclusively for fighting in formation. Therefore, I determined that the main reason for the Greek army's victories was the phalanx, against which the Persians were powerless. Good luck to you! ua-cam.com/video/2cubGxusJhw/v-deo.html Here's a much better presentation on the battle by The Armchair Historian. I show the video to my 7th graders when we cover the history of Greece because of its animated content. But the video is true to the historic content of the battle, and much better described by a (human) voice.
Sorry, but it seems to me that the video you suggested is for very young children and doesn't provide an understanding of Greece and Persia of that time. The animation is a very simplified version of history.
@@miol6267 Well, I did mention that I show this to my 7th graders. Animation aside, it follows the historical unfolding of the battle much better than this video. For example, on the map, you get an idea of the terrain during the battle that doesn't exist today (two streams, one dried up long ago). And it's correct the Athenian center was pushed back, it was the collapse of the much lighter armed Persian flanks that won the day for the Athenians. Anyway, my opinion only.
I love the background Spanish guitar work during the Assyrians description. Nothing like a Malaguena for ancient times before Jesus. Santana or Feliciano???
This is a melody by the 17th-century composer Gaspar Sanz. I apologize for not finding a melody closer to the described period. Unfortunately, it is not performed by a Spaniard.
This sounds like a bible narration
Dear Miol, you are presenting in American English. We here in the USA do not use the metric system. When you do, it makes your presentation hard to enjoy. I clicked out at 5:56. For those of you who want to respond by defending the metric system, don't bother.
Thank you for your comment! I will try to use the measurement system familiar to Americans. But if there will be mistakes, please don't judge too harshly. I am not American.
No need for the city of Athens to hear about their victory at Marathon? No need to be informed by their best runner, that the battle was won but the war would continue? No need to start preparations at once for the defense of city and harbor? A hostile Persian fleet was approaching and one never knew on whose side Aeolus would be this time. Why should the Greeks invent the story of a runner who broke down and fainted or even died? That guy was nothing more in those days than a postman in ours. No material for heroes and mythology. Yet he is mentioned with his name! Funny how all these modern so called historians know better than the ancient ones.
Perhaps you are right. I presented one of the opinions and do not insist that it is the only correct one.
