Welcome to my channel! My name is Kate and I'm a software developer with a passion for knitting and crocheting. When I moved to Amsterdam, I rediscovered my childhood hobby and haven't looked back since. I love creating handmade items that I can wear or use as decoration.
I started with a simple hat for my husband, and since then I've crocheted various things, from socks to blankets. I recently discovered the joy of knitting and am currently learning how to make sweaters and tanks.
For me, knitting and crocheting are not just about the end result, but also the process. It's a way to turn away from everyday problems and relax into a creative flow.
I started this channel to connect with like-minded people who share my love for knitting and crocheting. Here, you'll find tutorials, patterns, and inspiration for all levels of experience. I'd love to chat with you in the comments, so please don't hesitate to reach out, and let's get stitching!

Nice idea with the 3D printed sock blockers! I bough some wodden ones and love them. I don't hand mine, just lay flat. I hate that in the wooden sock blocker set they only cam 1 per size so you have to block them one by one? Anoying 😂 Would love to print some as well
Oh, I didn't know it's only one sock blocker. I knit socks one by one, never two at the time, so I could block them one by one too. But it would be annoying, yeah :-)
i currently have all my information in a notebook and it has become very messy lol i love your videos on these organizational topics! This was very helpful, i might try something similar in OneNote or i might try out Notion as well. Thank you! :)
Thank you! Tell me if you will use OneNote, I've never tried it, and curious about the result :-)
I loved this and purchased your template and downloaded the PDF, but can't seem to get it to load/open using the Notion app on my desktop.
Hi! Sorry for the late replay, I was away for some time. First of all, I'm sorry you had such an experience. I have a few questions, so I could help you. 1. Do you have a Notion account? If yes, be sure to log in. 2. Were you able to follow the link in the PDF, and open a template in your Notion/browser? 3. There should be a button on the top right corner "Start with this template". Click it, and it will ask you where to copy the template. Click "Add to private", or it could be called differently. That's it, it's your own page now. Did it help?
My solution: Make a basket from and for your leftoverstash - so you need no more basket for your left over stash^^ New sub here :-)
Thank you for subscribing! Love your idea! I was going to use it for my WIPs, but a basket for my leftover stash sounds good. I can have more leftovers in this case :-)
I also have some of the same rules that you have, 'no more buying yarn this year' is one of mine as well. I also have been doing the 'at least one' rule for myself. I have a lot (I mean A LOT) of WIPs on my hooks right now and I'm trying to finish them all. Some of them I'm just not reaching for even though I like the project I just don't always want to work on them. So my personal rule is: do at least x number of stitches. I usually say at least one, I also work a full time job so sometimes I'm just tired at the end of the day and even though I want to finish things, it's just so daunting and I curl up with a safe familiar thing instead. So my rule is do at least one stitch every day. Sometimes I do more and say to myself "How about that!" sometimes I can only bring myself to do the one, but that's all I need to do, then I can go to the fun thing without feeling so guilty about it. It really does add up though, and I've been having a lot of success with it this year. I hope that rule brings you success with your basket!
Doing just one stitch a day is definitely the way to go! It takes the pressure off and helps you make steady progress without feeling burned out. Keep it up, and watch those WIPs gradually turn into finished projects! It's also important to give yourself some rest from time to time and let go of this rule if you're too tired after a long day at work. After all, it's a hobby-it should bring you joy!
@@ColorPopKnits So true!
Very satisfying to see! Also nice you included projects you want to start soon! 😊
Thank you! Let’s see if those projects turn out as cool as they look in my head
@@ColorPopKnits maybe they ll be even better than expected!
too much yarn? all friends need socks and sweaters, winter is coming! woop-woop, ideal solution
It’s highly possible I have enough yarn for all of these projects 😂
My dad has a 3-D printer and he saw a whole knitting machine in pieces in the forums he browses! That hook/needle holder looks like it would be really helpful for me too, I might have to ask him to print me one!
Yes, I saw it too. Thinking about making one. It would be a big project
Hello! Just found your video, so new sub! I guess this is really silly of me but I end up with a lot of single skeins of really colorful sock yarn and I actually crochet them into infinity scarves. About 420 yards is good for me, so I love to wear my sock yarn as a cozy infinity scarf. <3 (Going to check out more of your videos, hopefully progress has been good for you this year!)
Welcome to the channel! That sounds like a fantastic way to use those sock yarn skeins. Infinity scarves are such a cozy accessory! I use my sock yarn to knit scarfs as well, and hats too. Actually I'm going to post a new video about my yarn stash reorganisation, maybe it would be interesting for you :-)
@@ColorPopKnits Looking forward to it! <3
Great video, thank you. What is the sweater that you are wearing? It looks like an interesting construction.
Hi! Thank you! It's a sweater from Benetton. It seems it was knitted not top down, but from one sleeve to another. The funny detail for me, the cast on and bind of methods do not match :-)
I really enjoyed your video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Baumwolle is cotton in German!
Beautiful pink hat!
Thank you! :-)
pink socks - love them! and yes, I need this mug!
I'll bring one to you, if you won't visit us first :-)
@@ColorPopKnits yyyaaayyyyyyy!
my manager lives in the Seattle area, he usually logs in to work at 6am his time 😅 it's a little crazy but he has told me he's used to it because to have a meeting at 9am with someone in the East Coast it's 6am for him. I'm very happy to live in the middle of the country and I don't have to worry about big time differences haha your trip looked like so fun, and the yarn you bought is so beautiful! 🩷
Omg! Meetings at 6 am it's something I couldn't do. I'm not a morning person, and I would be so grumpy :-D He is a hero!
This is so cool :) I randomly stumbled upon this video and found it intriguing because my hobby is crocheting and my sisters new hobby is 3D printing, and then I saw a russian comment and what can I say?
Did your sister print something for you already? It's could be so fun!
@@ColorPopKnits Yes she did :) but it was a lil clicky mushroom fidget toy, nothing crochet related yet :)
Thank you so much for this video! ❤ Its so nice and informative and just what i was looking for for my crochet/stash organisation.
Thanks! Super happy it helped you out. Organizing your stash can be a game-changer. Happy crafting!
im doing consulting for one American startup in SF, so we have a monthly call at...6am. Their 6am, not mine, I never schedule a call earlier than 8:30-9 am but for them, it's fine.
Yes! I can't imagine myself on a work call at 6 in the morning.
I love this! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! So glad it’s useful ☺️
There is no way u were allowed to take those needles on to plane. they wouldn't let me!!!!!
Just use wooden needles, they are fine for most of the airport’s
@@ColorPopKnits most excellent suggestion. Thank u.
No cus how were u even allowed needles on the plane 😮😮
You are allowed :-)
How did you get the needles on the plane?
They allow knitting needles, I know this because I am a crocheter who has brought her fair share of hooks and knitting needles. P.S: quick tip to anyone who may finish a project on a flight or has many small components; take nail clippers they are also allowed
Easy, just took the needles with me in my handbag. I use wooden needles when I travel, and there are no restrictions for it
You have printed so much beautiful things! I love the holder and the Yarn-bowl … Great work! 👍🧶
Thank you so much! I’m glad you like them. Maybe I should give the yarn bowl one more chance :-)
very informative and helpful, thank you!
Awesome! So happy you found it helpful! Stick around for more!
@@ColorPopKnits subbed! and got my first needles in the mail yesterday, enjoying it so much :)
What's your working on?
Hi Kate, I love this idea that you have developed. I would like to get this application to use for myself. Thank you very much, I am going to get this Dashboard for myself. This will keep me organized.
Hey, that's fantastic! Thanks for checking out the Dashboard. Hope it helps you stay on top of things!
So why Is it t-shirt basket DIY? If it's not....? It's t-shirt yarn DIY
Oh, sorry, you're right! I made a long video with a basket DIY, and it stack in my mind. Thank you for letting me know! I didn't notice it
your cardigan looks incredible!! personally I really like the folded up sleeve. Similar to how in a normal sweater you'd knit ribbing at the end of the sleeves, folding it up gives it that same visual interest. You could fold it and put something like a button on it to make it look like it was intentional 😉 but also, you might feel more positive about the cardigan once you've taken a break from it for a while and can look at it again with a fresh perspective!
Thank you! I ended up wearing it with the folded up sleeves :-) And I wear it. It's so bright, and summer is not summering in Amsterdam this year. So this cardigan helps me with my mood :-)
Nice selection, I hadn't seen the Perrin and the Joinery yet: both will be on the to knit list! For Leela I have the Pure Silk in stash, but I think I will go for Sabai first. I havent knit anything in DK for summer yet, I cannot tell if it will be wearable for me or not. Sleeveless = always good. 😊
So happy you enjoyed the video! Perrin and the Joinery are definitely worth adding to your list. And sleeveless + DK means a relatively quick project, that's always good :-)
girllll you are fast! a dress and a cardigan in obe month? 😮
I finished them in June, but I was working on them much longer. The cardigan took me 5 months. The dress was a quick project, I managed to make it in 20 days.
Very nice
Cardigan is amaziiiiiing ❤
Thank you!
Very good idea!!! 👍
Happy the dress and The Cardigan came out so lovely! Waar was de meetup met andere breiers? Ik zoek nog breivrienden! 😊 ❤ from the east side😉
Misschien in oktober.
@@ColorPopKnitsI am still working on woolen sweater on 3,5 mm needles, and a silk shawl... But I crave a summer project, preferably in DK😅
Ik ben niet zeker van Knits&Notes. Ik ga in de herfst naar Breidagen. Ga je?
Sweaters on 3,5 mm needles requires some patience, but I'm sure the result would be great. I'm working on a video with a list of patterns for summer tops. I want to start something, but I'm afraid DK weight would be too thick for summer, and I'm not ready for something on 3mm needles now :-D
Prym has plastic knitting needles where the tips are slightly rounded. I especially liked their plastic DPNs since they have a very smooth texture, unlike their fixed circulars and crochet hooks, but I found myself feeling much more confident on bringing them to the airport since they're plastic and don't have pointy tips :) another great video, I hope you have a great trip(s)!
Wow, such a good tip, thank you! I didn't know about plastic DPNs, I'll try them. Normally I prefer needles with pointy tips, but for the airport rounded tips would work better, I agree.
really gorgeous - see you later-Colorpop!=))
Thank you!
Elizabeth Zimmerman is the ultimate knitter without patterns. She wrote a number of books and she teaches you how to knit without a pattern. She's amazing. Her book Knitting Workshop is great for jumpers/sweaters.
Thank you! I'll check out her books
You forgot the cafes 😂
It was the first time for me in the cafe you see in the video :-)
@@ColorPopKnits aha nice :)
@@ColorPopKnits drops “cotton merino”😉.
Good job Kate! I think I may knit one.
Thank you!
We call it "waterkoud". 😉🐏
Sounds like the perfect name for a cold shower in the winter :-) I'll have to remember that, thank you!
Hi Kate, I hadn't watched all of this video yet... What pattern is the sweater you are wearing? It looks beautiful!
And yes, I would add stripes to the blanket!
Hi! Sorry for the late reply. That's Ingrid summer sweater by Gregoria Fibers. One of my most weareable sweaters, and the pattern is very well written.
@@ColorPopKnits thank you! It looks like a very comfortable summer sweater! And she is also based in Amsterdam! 😊
hi Kate, I am Dutch and I live in Amsterdam and this video warms my heart 🥰
Hi! I'm so glad my video resonated with you! And happy to see you in the comments :-)
