      Hi! Thanks for watching, and no it is unfortunately not :/ butttt you can try and do it with the last technique I showed, which is doing it from scratch, just watch the color space transform you start your node tree with so it all matches harmoniously!

    • @stephan_clarkson
      @stephan_clarkson 3 місяці тому

      @@ChristopherChaconYT Hello, Christopher! Thank you for reply! Personally for myself I like 3 of them - down by priorities: 1) interesting ladies crossing bridge with deck - because there is several big objects (trees, lake, bridge, people, sky) and all those objects are in different color range and very rich/saturated in good way 2) Guy running in front of trees 3) also very beautiful grading - ladies on a stadium (I guess at the beginning of intro). 4) I also like grading in movies such as: Billet Train (modern cinematic) - very interesting; as well as it would be interesting to understand technic how picture from modern camera can be graded into something we see in Grand Budapest/Asteroid City/The French Dispatch. I found some videos which improve green forest for example, but in most cases it destroying sky and or lake for example and in general full picture becoming dark. On your first two examples above - picture is rich and you haven't lost the brightness so it still looks natural which I like. Thank you very much!

    Great tips! @3:06 how did it go from a circular spotlight to filling the whole scene with the blue hue? Were two lights used like @4:34 and then a shape modifier for the blinds? Curious how this look was achieved exactly. Looks great.

    • @ChristopherChaconYT
      @ChristopherChaconYT 4 місяці тому

      Hi David! Thanks so much for watching & taking the time to comment 🙌🏽🔥 So for that scene we used the spotlight with the blue filter and blinds gobo, yes, and then we had a TV turned on, which is causing that flicker effect, we actually shot this scene during the day which meant we had to cover all windows in order to darken the room. You can actually see this setup at the beginning of the video at 0:08 (we ended up turning off that lamp to the left) - but I ended up cutting the bts during the before and after at 3:06 - to keep the flow and pace of the video going, I probably should’ve kept it in haha my bad! Hope this helps! 🙏🏽

    • @dwmspace
      @dwmspace 4 місяці тому

      Thanks a lot for your reply and for sharing! Last question, so the blue on the background/wall (e.g. left side of the scene) @3:06 was light spill from the blinds gobo projector? Or was that from the tv playing something blue? It blends so well together.

    • @ChristopherChaconYT
      @ChristopherChaconYT 4 місяці тому

      @dwmspace of course! ask as many questions as you’d like haha I’ll reply the best I can - the light from the tv helped a lot with blending the scene so the room wasn’t 100% dark as you can see on the bts in the intro, we also have some outside light spilling in and bouncing off the walls, so that also helped with retaining enough information to play with colors in post so when color grading I pushed some blue/teal into the shadows too.

      @ChristopherChaconYT 4 місяці тому

      Hi! Thanks so much for watching!! 🙏🏽 I think “Film Look” definitely has some great things going for it, I’d say my only gripe with it is that it has a certain look to it baked in that Davinci doesn’t allow you to dial back or turn off giving you 100% full control, hopefully on a future update tho, since it’s only in beta, but with that said, the tool is amazing and will definitely help with creating amazing looks on a budget! I’m happy the video helped! 🔥

      The app was lowkey my favorite part because it’s an extremely complimentary tool to having the light. Matching color temperature so you don’t have mixed inconsistent color temps everywhere will definitely make colorgrading and editing so much faster. yessss, I like that blackmagic is listening to the users and what we’re wanting! However, the tool still has long ways to go, and dehancer isn’t going anywhere any time soon! Thanks for watching!!! 🔥

    yo, there's a sat vs sat curve. just drag the right side up and you get the same effect with 5 less clicks

    Why Gamma 2.4? because broadcast media? I mostly edit for social media and I've settled for Gamma 2.2 .. is it okay or should shift to 2.4?

    • @ChristopherChaconYT
      @ChristopherChaconYT 4 місяці тому

      Hi Carllin, thanks for watching! The choice between Gamma 2.2 and 2.4 really depends on your viewing environment. Gamma 2.2 works well in bright settings like offices, while Gamma 2.4 is better for darker environments such as home theaters. If you edit mainly for social media on various devices, Gamma 2.2 is practical. For darker settings or cinematic output, consider switching to Gamma 2.4 to enhance viewing quality. We adjust gamma during rendering to maintain consistency across all conditions, sometimes involving trim passes for each delivery platform! Hope that helps!! 🙏🏽🔥

    If you don't want to have to disable channels 1 and 3, you can just use the green channel on the curves, instead of gain. Gives better control, too.

    Thanks for your video ! What is Den+sub or LABmixL or LABmixH or LABsat ? If you put the halation at the beginning, won't it change the color of the white balance ?

    • @ChristopherChaconYT
      @ChristopherChaconYT 4 місяці тому

      Hi, Thanks so much for watching! I haven't found that halation changes the WB as much, but it does affect your skin tones, making them warmer. The placement of the Halation in my node tree is a little different for sure, normally you'd want to apply it after your primary color corrections, but I've found it's much more dramatic that way. I've just been doing it this way for so long, and it's subtle, and the kind of look I like going for, I'd recommend you experiment with both and find your style that way! As for the LABmix adjustments, they stand for Luminance, Hue and Saturation in the LAB color space. Which is distinct from other color spaces like RGB or CMYK. Great for achieving different looks like, the popular "Teal and Orange" look. I'll make a video about it some time! 🙏🔥

    I would say if you are a professional colorist, definitely go for Dehancer. Despite the price its worth the investment which you will make back in no time. If coloring is not your main source of income/work or if its more of a hobby then i would just use the film look creator+ color slice you will get amazing results and save money (if you have the studio version already).

    • @ChristopherChaconYT
      @ChristopherChaconYT 5 місяців тому

      Yes, I totally agree with you too! I’d definitely say Dehancer is worth the investment, realistically if you’re a professional colorist you can achieve these looks without it but it really is a cheat code for saving time with high quality results! 🙌🏽🔥

      Personally I find filmbox by video village to be far superior to both Dehancer and the new film look creator ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @ChristopherChaconYT 4 місяці тому

      @artripoli I have not had the chance to use filmbox, but I have heard great things about it! Tbh nothing will ever beat knowing how to do it well from scratch, but it’s really cool having tools that can help speed up the process while keep the quality up!! Thanks for sharing! 🔥
