Air-Cooled Vanagon Cooling Tin Seal Replacement ft. Karmann Vandiego
just watching the whole series again makes me wanna go build one for myself
I have a 1983 Vanagon with only 86,000 miles and I am the original owner. No rust so far. I purchased a "lifetime" rust warranty when I bought the car. I guess I should call them to see if they are still in business. I had a 1971 VW Van that was totally rusted out when I had it towed away in 1991.
Hey man, could you please link the engine seal for the Aircooled vanagon replacement that you used? Has it been working well btw? Many thanks
I guess the project stalled out? Too bad, looked like a super cool build!
Matthew......trying to reach you. Vanagon donor Nick
Can’t wait to see this done! how are you going to handle the windshield?
Hey dude how do you feel about 2002 euro vans? I’m looking at one to full time van life in and found one for 16k with 100k miles
Buy my van
I’ve been watching lots of your videos as I try to figure out how much I want one of these classic vans, love your vids, your energy and way to explain things, keep it up.
Please keep going!
Love to see it when it's finished. Don't give up
Could you please tell me what electric tool that is you used to sand the rust?
Curious about the windshield you'll be using.
Sweet Project!!
The American flag waving behind a time lapse of a man diy cutting up a German van is really spectacular
What a ridiculous, amazing project. I'm impressed by your devotion to retaining the vanagon profile as you cut it up to make it fit the truck chassis. But you better get some superior quality sound insulation. I have a duramax express and it's loud with the engine right next to me.
Looks a bit like a LT
Yes, engine in the same location and same type of axles.
Great project, please keep posting.
This is going to be amazing. I wish I had the time and space to do this to mine so I could have a huge T3/T25/Vanagon camper - I'd have to make a massive pop top for it though :-)
I'm excited to see this project move ahead. Goodluck!
Damn rust hey! I got lots too. Such a pain in the ass.
Do you know of anyone who turned a full or nearly full vanagon into a trailer?
When is new content comming?
How did your floor repair turn out? Mine is worse, and I was thinking of replacing the whole floor with a piece of thicker flat sheet metal. Thoughts?
so much for the rust in the floor ! LOL
get a wire cup and 4.5" grinder, face shield, hearing, and respirator protect, and a big floor fan, and go to town ! Mike F N Garage uses a rust converter and I use it too... I also saw guys in Thailand beat metal into ridges, had to do that for a 55 cadillac trunk floor, nothing aftermarket available....
Great job on the Trailer! Should be great towed behind a vanagon. Such a cool addition to anyone with a family of any size.
What is the max you could widen it to be street legal?
NEED to see the finished result
Im surprised you didnt use both bodies and offset cut them so you only had a single join in the middle and got rid of the lower RH corner windscreen rot
There were a couple of reasons for this decision. The brown Vanagon body was in rough shape. The only really straight part of that van was the center 12"! I was also concerned that the transition in the middle would not be as smooth as both body halves would dip in the middle where they were joined.
oh dude, that's awesome!
Glad you like it!
I’ve got to give credit where credit is deserved. Loving your channel
Thanks for the support!!!
Just subbed, that’s some crazy content man !
Thanks for the sub! Let's build some craziness!
Dont you guys have vw LT's in America?
They are much less common. The LT cab was used by Peterbilt here for a short time, but not like the rest of the world.
@@DrivingVanDiego ah too bad, would make that build so much easier. I like what you're gonna do with it
Make sure you do the killer dowel pin fix on that Cummins 12 valve. It’s cheap insurance.
Thanks for the tip! Luckily, I have owned the Cummins donor for many years, and peened the KDP a while back!
Bloody rust. It’s easier to do it now then later.
It only gets worse with time!
Why not just use a VW LT cab - or complete chassis?
The VW LT is much harder to find ($$) in the U.S. than elsewhere in the world. Also, it wouldn't be nearly as fun!
@@DrivingVanDiego not really, it's super easy to import one. I've seen a few for sale in the past year
Wow, & I thought that mine will be a big build. I’ll keep following you.
It is a bit ambitious...but this will be one awesome camper! Good luck on your build!
Yea this is something else lol. I’m following as well
Yes yes yes I love it!!!! This thing is going to be bad!!!!!!!
I know, right! I'm very excited to get this cab finished and mounted on the frame!
Check out our adventures above Cooke City, MT in our Colorado ZR2s, we took 5 up the mountain. We were sitting at lunch, saw a road on the mountain and decided to check it out, totally randomly! Great video. I just came across your channel, & now subscribed to follow along with you. I’ve got an 87 Syncro that one day I’m going to do a full rebuild.
Glad your here following along!
Awesome, post more videos please.
Heater on the trailer is good idea. I like that. Nice job!!
