Hahaa awesome. There's something about him, the unique style makes him pretty recognizable at times. Other times he comes up with a completely new kind of beat. The evolution from his early records (in)to Esoteric Warfare for instance is absolutely brilliant. Different but still just as cool. I'd argue this expands the 'boundaries' of black metal in a positive way.

Look at that place; dank, underground, dungeon-like man cave decorated with Baphomet stars, inverted crosses, Black Suns and other occult paraphernalia, all of it while sweaty and talented Metal guys rehearse their sweet, sweet, music. Though I really Enjoy his inventive drumwork in Mayhem, this sounds a little too much triggered for me. Also, Fenriz told us not to use that bell patern of the ride anymore ;). Nevertheless ; Hellhammer is an outstanding drummer

I've owned a Mayhem CD since 2000 and always thought they used a drum machine. I just learned today that this human is actually the drummer on that CD. Unreal. Truly amazing talent.

P Lasek Wrong. Lars always used a nine piece kit. And Lars has NEVER been close to the skill level that Hellhammer was at even 20 years ago when Mayhem started pumping out albums. Lars is a rat under and elephants foot of Hellhammer.

Why does everyone have to compare Hellhammer to somebody else? What happened to just enjoying the music? This man is a beast, he plays faster than satan's fart, he inspired a lot of people and he made a substantial contribution to music that will last forever. Respect!

+Galgamach Triggered the hell(hammer) out of that kit. His basses and toms are most definitely not providing some natural acoustic drum sounds and velocity changes (velocity here referring to attack or else loudness). The speed though is real. Only it'd be much quieter, with less attack and thus with a more unstable sound intensity if just played on an acoustic kit.

They're triggered so you can hear each stroke at the same volume. If they weren't triggered, it would be quieter, as he is playing very fast and inconsistent volumes
