The Whitemoor Marshalling Yards March
Can anyone relate the storey of the March “Whiskey Galore” episode.? I was told this some time go but, alas, cannot recall the date and details. It would be great if someone would post a UA-cam about this please! Without, of course, admitting any involvement!
And this is progress. :(
This collection of shots fits together perfectly with a re-read of the early chapters of "I Tried to Run a Railway" by G. F. Fiennes and brings life to it as well as meaning to those parts of the story that are now a fading and distant memory and difficult to understand.
The part 1 was already disappeared from the youtube
Clair performance TV show plz
❤
Karen Kay certainly put on a splendid show for that era. Very entertaining. Powerful voice. 😊
Spud, wheres Stick?
Interesting.
Interesting.
Brilliant history !!!!!!@, total respect to all the sir,s !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I love Leo
A great history film from beginning till end told by some of the folk that worked there and a new language, GREAT.
WE spend too much time wallowing in the past, in this country. Why is it still waste ground?
It’s not! They reopened some of it as a materials handling and recycling yard and then gave the rest over to a prison.
Yes I spent many happy days at whitemoor yards it's a crying shame it's gone plus the closing of the march to Spalding line could be a main freight line avoiding Peterborough
SUE GLOVER,SUNNY LESLIE AND KAY GARNER 😍😍😍
I can NOT get enough of this guys voice. What a natural singer!
😍
As well as being a fantastic singer Lena was a natural comic and great impressionist. She could dance pretty well too - so versatile 💖
EXCELENTE
Such sad destruction of fine industrial architecture
😘
The vol is way too low!!
Ron Green was a true (old school) legend. They don't make 'em anymore! It's all far too easy nowadays. When I view TV now, I'll 'spot the (many) mistakes' that 'admittedly, most others don't see. It irritates me no end. Production standards have fallen into the abyss!
I do remember a story about one of the workers got crushed between the buffers he died when family was there when they parted the wagon
Who was the young lad presenter?
Are there any more of these Leo Sayer Show gems out there? I'm from the USA and never heard of this. AND: has anyone did a documentary on Leo? He's still my hearthrob after all these years!
So enjoyed this film , have a great affection for March, my grandad worked on the railway as a guard , Walter Scarff if anyone remembers him lived down Estover was a friend and neighbor to Ben Gimbert , my mums best friend was Joyce, Bens daughter so we know the story of Ben’s courageous actions that day. Fate is a strange thing but at the time my dad was a fireman and was supposed to be on that fated train but was unwell so he swapped shifts , now I’m just realising that James Nightall must have been the fireman (correct me if I’m wrong ) Dad moved on into farming and we left March in around 1949/50 When I was a small child I have such memories of the night time sounds from the marshalling yards heard from my grandparents house , the squealing of metal on metal, the crashing sounds as wagons hit the buffers , such happy memories ❤
Sadly no audio in the middle of this 😮
Hi Linda sorry to hear that do you have a time code please? I have checked it quickly and can't find the section with no audio.
@Nigel Saunders I have rechecked the video and miraculously I now have audio , not sure what happened 😮 I used the link from Facebook whether that made a glitch I don’t know but all is ok . Look forward to rewatching this instead of skimming through it.
@@lindacleveland1289 Ah thank goodness for that you had me worried! Thank you for letting me know.
I met Trevor Bevis at ST Wendreda's church 30 years ago. When my class visited the church 30 years ago. And Gordon Southwell became mayor of March in 93-94.
Lena was tremendous, and much loved by many people, and she still is thought of with affection. God bless you Lena. xxx greatly missed.
I'm half-American and half-Belgian. When I was a kid, I lived in Antwerp for a semester. Hangar 17, The Movie Game, and a few other shows that I forget were regularly on the TV in our room. This was 1994, so hopefully somebody else remembers them.
@Nigel Saunders Dunno if it might help your view count if you put "Karen Kay" you've added an 'e'. Thanks for these three shows, gold 👍
Fascinating! I really enjoyed the series... way back when
Jay’s maw
One of them was in Brookside
Loved this. If this song had been in Eurovision this year I think it woukd have won!! AND the wonderful SPIKE!!
That may possibly be the only piece of footage of an S1, one of a class of just 6 engines
Thank you all for your effort in this fim production. Rekindled lots of bye gone memories
Where is this?
The brick tower still stands and has been converted for housing and other flats and houses built on the site. It is at the junction of New Street and Bedford Street in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.
Right, now smash that brick tower down!

Interesting. Local..
So much for 'progress'...not?
I remember this for the fact that when they had teenage children bobbing for apples in a contest, they would tie their hands behind their back when doing so! Was that really necessary?
Everyday stuff at ATV, I drove Moles for years!
👍🏻 Good video, I use Mill Lane regularly.
