Black flame candle. Polymer clay cane
Hi everyone, today i want to show you how i made this black flame candle cane from the new Hocus Pocus movie. At the time I was filming this the movie was not out yet and there were only previews available.
To imitate the glow of the candle we will need to make a gradient between white, ultramarine blue and black.
Cut the gradient in 2 uneven sections - the smaller one is about a third of the sheet. Use the bigger section to make a bullseye with black on the inside - add a log of black to wrap the gradient around it. Turn the smaller section into a fanfold. Wrap a sheet of glow in the dark clay around the bullseye, mine was rolled out on medium thickness. Start squishing the bullseye into a diamond shape with your fingers - this will be the flame part of our candle.
Flatten the fanfold and keep the height the same as the flame cane.
For the top portion of the body of the candle i am using black clay and graphite pearl. Chop them up into small pieces. What im trying to do here is imitate flickers of light from the flame.
Mix some graphite pearl with ultramarine blue - this will have more of the glowing effect on the body of the candle. Chop it up as well.
Mix the pieces of the black and pearl clay. Squish the pieces together into a very basic rounded shape.
Decide which will be the top of the candle and add the blue pieces there alternating them with some of the black. Then squish and push to shape it into an oval.
Mix a bit more of the black and pearl clay - this little piece will go on the side of the candle, sort of like melting wax.
Use more black clay for the main body of the candle. I shaped a block and then used a round cutter to trim the clay. We will fit our oval right into that cut out. Add the small piece on the side and push everything together. Shape and cut any excess.
Now we are going to wrap the remainder of our skinner blend around the body of the candle. Shape it so it’s the same height as our candle then put it through the pasta machine lengthwise. Wrap around the candle with black on the outside and blue toward the candle. Elongate one corner of the flame piece so it can create a sort of wick.
Cut a channel at the top of the candle and fit the flame piece in the cut out. The new black flame candle looked rather misshapen. So even if your candle comes out a little wonky that's quite alright!
Pack the whole cane with black clay so you can get a rectangle or a square. Once you pack it, reduce the cane until the size that you want. And again, don’t worry as much about the candle being perfect - it looked anything but straight in the clips.
Hope you enjoyed this video. Don’t forget to like and subscribe so you don’t miss the next tutorial. Thanks so much for watching, till next time.

How to embed posts for polymer clay stud earrings

Every glue eventually fails, especially when it comes to making stud earrings with polymer clay. The most sure way to make them last is to embed the metal posts into clay. This is how I do it.

I’ve only made a couple of very simple canes. And no matter how many tutorials I have seen I still cannot wrap my head around how incredibly talented you and other polymer clay artists are. Particularly when it comes to the canes. The detail in some of them is just blowing!!!! These are incredible!!!!! And what I just can’t seem to grasp is how you you know how to construct it!!!
HOnestly, sometimes you just have to start and see where it takes you, and it does come easier with practice. I don't even draw my canes first anymore because I can see it in my head - doesn't always come out the same way but you just go where the clay takes you :)
Beautiful work, thanks for sharing. ❤❤

Thanks!
Holy Schmoly!! Super fantastic, awesome, fabulous, incredible, beautiful, unique, ultra special canes! I'm not sure if you can tell how much I LOVE these.. and so thrilled that there's a part 1 as well. I can't WAIT to try these. They're so different from all the other cane tutorials I've seen. Thank you so much for sharing and showing. YAY.
This totally made my day! Thank you!
I’ll be this affect! Very creative! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us.

OMG that musik drive me crayzy, sorry. 😂 you are fabntastic, just wish to remove that musik.
What colours did you mix to get the first denim piece? Thanks
Hi! This was done with Scupley premo: 2 black, 3 white, 4 navy, 6 turquoise
I was just wondering if you could tell me how you mixed to get that denim colour. I don't do earings I create other items just was wondering about the colour? Thanks
Hi! I use Sculpey Premo clay in these proportions: 2 parts black, 3 parts white, 4 parts navy, 6 parts turquoise. Also, if you have their discontinued color Periwinkle, i can be a nice denim as well. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the link. Great information for older canes.
Thank you so much!
What was the point of pressing the mold into the pink clay if you were just going to scrape it off?
Are you talking about the first step? The technique is called mica shift - you have to use metallic clay that has mica particles and when you shave off the raised areas it leaves the pattern in a ghost shimmer
@@TheARKreations ohhh I see, I was very confused for a second! I think I see what you’re talking about when you show the finished earring.
This is great! Just started making earrings and this is so helpful.
Yay, thank you!
❤
Beautiful combination of colors. If real woodgrain had these colors, I would get hardwood floors.
How do you make the smooth gradations though?
I don't have a video for that, but search youtube for "polymer clay skinner blend" or "polymer clay gradient". I like this channel ua-cam.com/video/Ad0KmwKyVx8/v-deo.html
I would love to find that particular stencil but I've had no luck! Where is is?
which one? I know the flowers and leaves I got years ago from aliexpress
I've wanted to do the Batik technique literally for years but could never find a simple tutorial. Then, I happened across your tutorial. Simple, clear instructions and such a beautiful finished product! Thank you so much for sharing!
Yay! Thank you so much!
These are adorable! I don't understand the previous comment but I've been claying for about 25 years and I think these are very clever and original 👍✌️❤️
Thank you so much!
LOVE this! Thank you so much for your tutorials! How long did it take you to reduce the finished product?
Thank you so much! The cane itself wasn't too big so the reduction took me maybe about half an hour? The clay I worked with was also on the softer side so moved quite well
Nicely done! I love anything denim and the fringe effect just brings it home! 🥰
Thank you so much 🤗
Useless
Why's that?
Do u sell the shale cutters?
hi, I myself don't sell them, but I got them here createalong.com/?aff=51
Love these! It's the extra bits that are added to the clay that make them so unique. Not a lot of people are creative enough to do that when making clay/resin jewellery, it's lovely to see 😊
Thank you!
absolutely love these!!!
When are these going up on your website
Hi, I will be updating my website at the latest on thursday but plan to do it tomorrow!
😅
Amazing 🤩
Love ❤️ blue 💙
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you! 😊
Now, when I tell you how many times I watched this you’ll be surprised on how much free time I have
:D
Omg this is the best
What a fun project, but most of all, you are very talented. Your canes are so neat!
Thanks so much! 😊
Brilliant!
I love thattt
Omg i love thatt
