Brilliant!!!
Ah ah, what a load
Really appreciated listening and watching this...have loved Northern Soul since I was a teen!❤
The bearded vocalist in the hat fancies himself as a cut price version of Boy George.
What cracks me up is that some of the greatest classical musicians in the world are smiling past themselves because the audience is so receptive and having a ball, whereas a classical audience normally sits in judgement of their playing. The band is having a better time than the audience! Bach it ain't.
ANALOGUE , avec ce chanteur que je trouve très bon , merci !!
ANALOGUE , magnifique!! avec ce chanteur que je trouve très bon...
magnifique , comme toujours !..
Absolutety Awsome...From a Casino all nighter regular.....
Wonder how many NS fans north of London got tickets 🤔
put talc on the floor off me nut and danced all night 8 hours before rave came and then we did it again haha
Absolutely gutted I missed this! Please, please, repeat again soon. BBC concert orchestra were amazing and the vocalists....WOW took me back to those wonderful days. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Lynne..... former Burnley girl!
Great weekend loved every minute thank you k.t.f
Thanks for this, Pat. I was otherwise occupied at the time this went out so it's good to catch up on it circa a month down the line. It was rather good!
What a voice this lady has. Velvets. Wow. Also fantastic orchestra
What sung better than judy street
Wow frank beverley lee david they nailed em brilliant
Simply, what a night.
It's 50 years since I first head the beat of Northern Soul, in the Catacombs Wolverhampton. The voices of my beloved Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Jerry Butler, and more, were swept away by this magical sound, were mt feet left the ground for hours. Now in my 70s, very much wiser, and educated, the sad inequality, segregation, of young folk like myself, stuck in a monotonous Grove, was a bewildering enigma, until I read large doses of history and politics.. what's amazing, looking back at those days, is the enormous talent released by folk, who had little to hope for. Sadly so many Midland and northern areas, since the glory days of this invigorating music's heyday, have been once again neglected. However I do have faith in young folk, however many obstacles block their paths in life's highway, to reach their goals.
Just fantastic!!
When was part 1 on
OMG gutted I never knew about this let me know if it happens again,
amazing band amazing singers im an old shool soulie who went everywhere but it was funny how the crowd didnt get at first but then it seeped in and they all went mad god bless nothern soul keep the faith
Northern soul fan since wigan casino, attended most weekends for the last 3 years. Hate to pull anything, but, this concert is cringworthy. MUMMY THERE NOT WEARING ANY CLOTHES!
WTF are you talking about ? Has your medication run out ?
That was me, sorry! I was recording it from TV and had a cough, I tried to keep it quiet.
That pp arnald nutter
Last 3 in the wrong order. On my way should be last.
Yeah.. There must be a reason..The presenter never went to an All Nighter..
Out of sequence was preannounced.
Loved this,my favourites were The Drifter and Know One Could Love You More
Singers 👏👏 give your selfs a big hand 👏👏
I agree maybe have a DJ of that period ,but what colour does it matter who presented it ,for gods sake just enjoy our music , BTW it was brilliant .
My happy place is my corner of the dancefloor as you well know. I missed first 20 mins on tv. Ta for posting it esp for me pat. Debs x
You're welcome Debs. I'm just a fan who wanted to get a copy of this for myself to keep so it'sa bit hit & miss! So glad I did.
Watch it great memories of Northern Soul singers were great still love the music today never leaves you KTF 💚🤗
Thanks for sharing that was brilliant, the singers were amazing, lots of my favourite songs too 😊 🇫🇷
Was it me, or did the BBC not show the performance of "The Night"? Would have loved to have seen that, because on Radio 3 someone in the orchestra was giving it a bit of Les Paul Gibson guitar action in the legendary bit at the end of the choruses. What a shame.
Yes, in 1st half!
Yep, part 1, and I loved it too.
@@Darkhorse1909 I'll have to look at part 1 again, I was watching the uploaded footage early in the morning, might've missed it, all I can remember is hearing it played on the end credits, I was thinking *What?! BBC2 didn't even bother including it!" 😉😁👍👍👍
It's around 19.20 in the first half. I've watched Darrell Smith about 200 times singing it. Absolutely amazing. A star is born. They were all fantastic singers but Darrell just stood out for me. Such a great entertainer and singer. ❤
@@kathyhunter7990 Thanks, I'm sure I'll be taking a look again & again. 👍
Gotta say, loved the violinist at the beginning of Tainted Love singing along. Also, the cellist throwing the heart shape to the camera just before Stuart left the stage, respect! 👍😁 From the response of many in the orchestra, I wouldn't be surprised if you see any of them at the next All Nighter, keep a lookout! 😁👍
Yeah, I noticed those as well, bless 'em. It's lovely to see pro musicians so obviously having a blast themselves...
If you haven't yet I encourage you to listen to Radio 3's coverage of the Prom. Absolutely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ to presenter Georgia Mann, her enthusiasm was so electric and when Stuart Maconie during the interval mentioned that he was surprised no one's thrown talc down yet Georgia enthusiastically and inquisitively wants to know what he meant and so Stuart explained it to her, really endearing! 😁 Plus, you get a bonus 2 & ½ tracks played during the interval. Well worth a listen! I'm still getting over the fact that I happened to hear Radio 3 play "Take Me to The River" by Al Green during an interval around 3/4 years ago, nevermind Radio 3 covering a Northern Soul prom, I thought they would've handed it off to Radio 2 or 6Music, fair play to em'! 👍👍
BBC6 have it too.
@@Darkhorse1909 I've not heard the 6music edit, (I hope they've kept Georgia Mann's presentation of the prom), but I have been listening to the Northern Soul All Nighter from Saturday starting with Craig Charles and Richard Searling. Currently up to the Russ Winstanley set, only another 13/14 hours worth to go! 👍😉😁
Could not see any Soulies ripping up the dancefloor but the tunes were fantastic KTF.
You can't talk about Northern soul clubs without mentioning The Torch, The Cats, Vava`s & Cleethorpes, and more ... The Soul scene had been going around 6 years before Wigan opened, Yet people think that's when it started ...
They were poor shadows of the real thing.
Spot on that man, I remember hearing a guy at Cleethorpes saying "Wigan is where the real soulies send their kids whist they come here for the real music"
@@gagsm11 Does it really matter so long we appreciate the music. Keep The Faith. From a proud Wiganer.
We do know, but whatever, it is brilliant that another generation who weren't there, get to see this great music on the TV.
Darrell Smith absolutely smashed the Night
Didn't he? What a great voice, as to be fair they all had.
Was the coughing in the orig or just this video
Sorry, that was me!
Well chosen, performed and orchestrated songs. Excellent
Why were their only Black presenters ? Northern Soul was a prodominetly White Northern Working Class following ,their should have been DJs of the Time and Dancers from that Era But No the BBC tried to make it a Black Event. Black Music but a Mainly White Following
Stop being a snowflake and enjoy it for Gods sake.
Exactly my sentiments. I can't remember seeing many non-whites in the clubs at the time.
So they can't appreciate it? Do you think they might not have gone to the nights because they didn't feel safe at the time? Please. It's great music and who care's who's presenting? The music was great. I always wanted to go but didn't feel safe as a black female. KTF
@@KC-gy5xw There was no colour issue.
Yep, it was brilliant. Darrell Smith was my personal favourite, in particular The Night and There's a Ghost In my House.
Has this got the 7 songs on it that was edited out of the original show ?
I think so
Watched this live on the and 3 times more on catch up. Outstanding performance by all singers musicians etc. 👏 👏 👏
Thankyou for posting, fabulous solo's and backing, prom orchestra right on target, full of fun and enjoyment, many thanks xx
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi guys,I live in Devon now, but….wat a treat to see this ,I know Pete tongue has done it,but,to see this was realy special,ha,keep the faith guys, cheers.
The clip at the beginning of part 2 is from the film Northern Soul.
Thank you Pat For taking the your time and effort in uploading this for us Keep The Faith Fans.
You are so very welcome. KTF
I watched this with my dad and my lovely wife. As my wife and myself love Northern Soul. My dad kindly recorded this last Sunday for me. As he knows just how much I love Northern Soul. My dad is not into pop music of any kind. As he is 83 years old as was brought with classical and easy listening music. So mainly watches the Proms. I was surprised on how much our dad was enthralled with the Northern Soul Proms. My wife and I really enjoyed this show. We were foot tapping and singing to a lot of the songs. As I have a lot of Northern Soul music which majority of the songs I have and play a lot. Especially when we are away somewhere with our caravan.
That's so sweet. What a nice Dad!
