I think that's what has been the hardest thing for me to accept is how low our expectations are because how others treat us. I was born disabled but fairly functional in the able bodied world but having a progressive condition has slowly taken away those abilities to adapt so I couldn't see just how ableist the world is and how ableist I myself have been in the past whether I realized it or not at the time. And it needs to change as do I.

Loved the analogy of people walking on their hands, it made total sense, and it's a very good reflection about how society, in general, sees people who use a wheelchair.

Hey, just wanna say how important it is to have interviews like this here! As a non-disable person, I've been trying to learn more about these issues as a way of understanding other perspectives and ways of living, and also to constantly break paradigms that were put in my life for a very long time.
