Welcome to my channel.
DARTrader Media Productions is a channel dedicated to fixing things with some random stuff thrown in.
Coming from an engineering background being a metal machinist and tool maker before starting my own business trading and repairing audio / video equipment for 27 years until 2020.
Since 2020 I have been a full time carer for my wife and use some spare time to repair things and make videos that might help others.
There’s still plenty to learn and it keeps me focused, we all need something to stimulate the brain as we get older.
Anyway I hope you find something of interest on the channel and perhaps it helps you in some way, that’s my aim.
Please consider subscribing to the channel if you get any sort of value from its content.
Many thanks,
Dave

How to fix a Bose Wave Radio AWR1B4 with no sound & remote control intermittent
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 місяці тому
In this video I fix a Bose Wave Radio model AWR1B4 that had no sound and remote functions were intermittent. I purchased this a few months ago from eBay for £22 as spares / repair so thought I’d give it a go as usually it’s just some electrolytic capacitors that require replacing. Hopefully the video will help somebody as it’s quite a common fault on this era of Bose. Please take a look at some...
Fixing a £2 car boot sale bargain - Bush Boombox cassette not playing
Переглядів 6504 місяці тому
My neighbour asked me to take a look at a Bush Boombox as the cassette player was not working. It turned out they had bought it from a local car boot sale for £2 and it wasn’t working when they purchased it. Anyway it was an easy fix as there was just some tape wrapped around the pinch roller and once removed it worked as it should. Hopefully this might help someone with a similar problem. Plea...

In this video I show you a couple of Bush portable cassette players that were returned to Argos with the same faults. A good indicator that it may only be the belt is if you can hear the motor running but nothing else is working. Hopefully the video will help someone should the...
Fixing a Vax Blade vacuum cleaner with screechy motor bearings
Переглядів 6895 місяців тому
In this video I fix our Vax Blade that has developed a screechy motor . The noise was worse as the motor slowed down and sounded to me like a dry bearing. Basically a case of stripping it down to gain access to the motor and applying some lubricant to the motor bearings. Not a nice job but I thought I’d give it another chance of dodging the scrap bin. How long it will last for I have no idea or...

Could you replace these for me ?
I'd like to say yes but unfortunately I just don't have enough time to do my own things, I'm a full time carer for my wife and time is just not on my side.
Glad of this video as my pip came with no instructions!
Pleased the video was of help and many thanks.
Thanks very much for this. I followed your very clear instructions and the fix worked perfectly. It's frustrating that we pay hundreds of pounds for a t.v. and the remote fails because of a 2 m.m piece of plastic! I would never buy an LG television again.
Pleased the video has helped you. I wouldn't let it put you off purchasing LG in the future, they are a very reliable manufacture. I had my own business repairing audio / video equipment until I retired a couple of years ago. I had a contract with a local rental company repairing their TV's and video's and the owner of the business would only install LG or Samsung LED TV's, to be honest I think we had more Samsung out there. Samsung and LG make their own boards not like many others who just buy in a TV with a Vestel chassis and stick their name on it. Most of what's out there is utter dross meant to last 10 mins I'm afraid. Many thanks for your comment.
@@DARTraderMediaProductions You're very welcome, thanks again.
How things have changed 4 years on!! We now have a £4million pavement in the high street!
I know it's madness but it's happening all over the UK. We visit our daughter in North Walsham a couple of times a year and we were last there in July. We used to live in Crewe before we moved to North Wales and the council there have demolished most of the town centre to make way for a new bus station, multistorey car park and shopping centre. They only built the Bus station and car park as the finacial climate was'nt right to complete the project. Now they are just going to grass over the remaining land until they say the time is right to complete. They now have a new bus station and car park but no reason to visit the town centre as most shops have moved onto a trading estate. Denbighshire county council arn't much better to be honest, they say they have no money but find it to waste on a new bin system and electric bin wagons that were'nt needed. North Walsham is still a nice place compared to many though. Councils should ask the people that pay council tax what they prefer in their town.
Legend, thanks mate
Pleased the video helped you and many thanks.
Reminds me of a scanner to do your Sainsburys shopping 😂
Reminds me of the time I had my colonoscopy, many thanks for your great comment. 🤣
One thing to add. My reader gave me the "Battery Low" message so I opened the battery drawer and as I have a multimeter, I was able to test and see that they still had 6.12 volts, which is plenty. (That's the two 3v cells connected in series). So I took the batteries out, cleaned up the contacts and cleaned the batteries with isopropyl alcohol, to clean off any grease etc. Put them back in and it's fine now. (If you don't have isopropyl alcohol, just thoroughly rubbing all of the surfaces with a clean piece of kitchen roll should do the job).
That's great to know, many thinks for your great comment.
Doing my Realistic DX-160 dial cord. Thanks for the tips!
That's great, pleased the video was of help and many thanks.
Next to the wheel, there are arrows, up, down, left, right. We can use these arrows to make selections if the pointer is not visible. To restart the pointer first press the settings button on the remote (a star) opposite the home button (a house). On the left of the screen new icons appear and use the down arrow to select the bottom icon (all settings icon appearing on the screen). Do not turn the wheel but press the wheel into the remote and this will restart the pointer.
Really no need, I just pick the remote up and give it a slight shake and the pointer appears on the screen. However if the scroll wheel is broken you can't select anything even if the pointer is on the screen.
Thank-you so much, very informative video. I thought the head motor burned out, hadn't thought of a broken wire. what a terrible design at the head swivel and terribly thin wire. i added a heat shirk sleeve over my replacement wire. thanks again! fantastic vid!

Pleased you found the video of some use and many thanks for your great comment.
Thanks so much, with your help I could fix my remote! 🙏 The scrolling function didn't come back but at least the clicking works now. Cheers!
If it won't scroll then the piece used to repair might not be tight enough in the scroller and is just spinning rather than turning it. Many thanks for your comment.
@@DARTraderMediaProductions thank you, I'll check it!
Its tricky pulling the hose out because its bonded onto the inside, a few tough tugs did it for me. Thanks for the video though, you have saved me from purchasing a new hoover.

My vax won't suck when you press the switch to increase it still won't..any ideas..I've cleaned filter etc..brush is turning fine but zero suction. ?????
I take it that the main motor is running. If so then there is either a blockage or the fan on the back of the motor is broken in some way. Without seeing what's happening it's hard to advise really. Many thanks for your comment.
I have a video showing how to take the main body apart so you can check the motor, ua-cam.com/video/x7idOe1Vtek/v-deo.html Hope it may help.

These old Casio diaries are just wonderull... I use some of these to store my random created passwords for all my accounts. They are cheap and they are kind reliable (out of 4 I started to use over a year ago, none have died) yet they are very old things.
I still use one for recording my expenditure when on the move, it's a little more modern but so reliable. Just change the batteries when needed and away you go. Many thanks for your great comment.

Thanks for saving me 40$
A big help, thanks.
That's great to hear, many thanks.
It costs more than a postage stamp for the guy to drive his vehicle and to hand deliver the letter what a moron 😂
That's so true but I think their idea is to put fear in some people in to thinking they've had a visit. It's about a year since I got that letter and since then I've just had a monthly repeat of all the other letters. It does'nt bother me and should'nt bother anyone else as there's nothing to fear, if they stop sending the letters I'd feel left out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just watched your video and followed it step by step and hey presto👌👍just saved myself £50.
That's great to hear, pleased the video helped you and many thanks for your great comment.
I have to say this was the best tutorial ever. I’m so happy that I didn’t have to get a new remote control, is because that would cost money. My problem has been resolved now. I finally fixed the solution to it.
Pleased the video was of help and many thanks for your great comment.
Mann u save me. Because I was about to return it to the store. I thought it couldn't connect to my phone
Pleased the video was of help and many thanks.
hello!, i have the same problem, but i can touch the screen, but the screen is blank white, did you know why that can happen?
If it's the same model and the same problem then I'd say it's more than likely a broken flex cable as detailed in the video, very common fault. Many thanks.
I've just been quoted £750 to repair this problem at my local garage!.. so I may have to look into doing this myself thanks for the tip! 👍
It's a bitch of a job due to the lack of room when cutting the old pipe but worth it just to save the money. Good luck and many thanks for your comment.
Hey there I recently bought a canon powershot A620 from mercari, that needs repair. I put in batteries and the screen is just white, like in your video. Do you think it’s the same problem and solution? As in your video, because I really wanna fix, but in my location their is no repair shops that fix cameras especially old ones
It could be the flex cable to the screen but I don't know that model and considering it's spec may not be worth spending too much on. Then there's the question of is the cable available ? If you can get the flex cable and it's cheap enough then maybe you could take the camera apart and check for breaks in the cabe before you buy the replacement. Hope this helps and many thanks.
@@DARTraderMediaProductions will open the camera up tmr and see. Thank you and appreciate your reply. Have a great night 🙏🏽

Fantastic! I just sent my fluke 12 off for repairs and calibration. Looks like i could have sorted the lcd display myself, with your help. Well done sir!

Thank You Sir, for a concise and accurate repair procedure. My beloved Fluke 12 is once again readable. My screen was about 2/3 dead, I must have ordered my replacement screen from the same place in China where you got yours! Again, thank you!

Worked like a charm, thank you
Great to hear the video was of help and many thanks.
Sadly, mine is going to go in the trash. I can buy an equivalent for less than the repair.
That's a shame, I take it you don't fancy having ago at the repair yourself but if you did it would be worth doing depending on what equipment you have. I bought a capacitor kit from Amazon for £11.99 and that worked out at 2p per capacitor and I had to change 22 from memory. If paying a service centre to do the repair then yes you may as well just buy a working replacement off eBay, the place is full of them. Many thanks for your comment.
@@DARTraderMediaProductions I've got the Wave Stereo, not the clock radio. It's a wonderful unit which after 25 years has developed the hum. Repair shop is my only option. Going to hurt to toss it.

Cheers for this. I was struggling to get my old hose out. Seems both ends were bonded on my Vax Blade 4, but you gave the confidence to just rip it out. Now just need to somehow clean all the old gunk out 😂
Pleased the video has helped you. Some early ones are not bonded but it seems the later models are. The cleaning is not fun that's for sure. Many thanks for you comment and good luck.
Thank you so much for uploading this helpful video. very informative. I have two of these hoovers, bought the same time about 2 years ago, but the heads are not working. partially Pulled them up today and found the same cables (the ones you mentioned here) broken close to the plug. would it be possible for you to help me with the gauge of the wire you used please. thank you very much for your time?
The cable I used was from a old figure of eight mains lead, the type you plug into a radio etc. It was slightly thicker than the original but that's for the better really and was multi-strand copper so flexible enough. Just strip the outer covering off to reveal the two inner cables, blue / brown and use suitable lengths to make up new leads. Hope this helps and many thanks.
A hero💪
Thank you, great to hear the video helped you.
Thank you so much omg

Nope its very difficult task for me I cant fix it nice watching. Regards
I must admit it's not the easiest job that's for sure. I always think what's the worse that can happen, it's no good as it is so may as well have a go. I don't think it would be economical to take it to a repair shop so may as well give it a go. Many thanks for your great comment.
