How to Determine Whether You Have the Upper Hand in a Draughts Game
So we draw the line diagram to justify the options the square diagram gives? Is that it?
You are right
So this means that for every draughts game I play, and for every move my opponent makes, I have to draw both the square and line diagram in my head? I can do that but I just want to confirm. But yesterday I used only the square diagram and I couldn't win a game😢😢
It means you have not yet master the square diagram yet. Can you send me the pdn of the game so that i can show you where you went wrong.
There also another way to count tempi, and IMO an easier way. It goes like this. The third row, from 36 to 40, is where you count from. Whatever is on that the line 36 to 40, you don't count it. Even if there five pieces, you don't count them. You start to count the pieces on the fourth fifth sixth and so on. Suppose there are two pieces on the fourth row = 2 tempi. It's two times the first line above the third line. Two pieces on the fifth row = 2x2 = 4 and now added are the 2 tempi of the forth row makes a total of 6 tempi. If there are pieces beneath the third row you must deduct them of your total. Suppose there is one piece on the row below the third line, that means you have to deduct 1 tempi. Are there two pieces on the line 46 to 50, that is two rows below the third line, than that's 2x2. This gives a total of 5 tempi that you have to deduct from the 6 we had in the example. This way you can see in a blink of an eye, when you use the third row as the base, from to count from, that a piece on 26 and 46 makes zero tempi. Or a piece on 47 and 25 makes 1 tempi. You have to do the same with the black pieces. This works much quicker than the standard method. You don't need to add them all up. In the end you're not interested in the total number but only in the difference. I hope I was clear.
Thank you for sharing this alternative method of counting tempo! I appreciate the detailed explanation and examples you provided. Using the third row as the base and applying multipliers for pieces above and deductions for pieces below is indeed an interesting and efficient way to calculate tempo at a glance. I also like how it focuses on the difference rather than the total count, making it quicker to assess strategic positions. I'll definitely take this into account and explore its application in my analyses. Your contribution adds value to the discussion, and I'm sure other viewers will find it helpful as well. Thanks again for your insight, and feel free to share more strategies or ideas anytime!
@@koromamedia8146 Thanks! I'm glad I was clear enough, showing diagrams would make it easier. I learned this from the late Dutch (i'm Dutch) grandmaster Andreas Kuijken. He talked about it while analyzing a game for public. He said then (around 2013) that this method never has been publicized. It still hasn't I believe.
Maybe I do have something more for ya. Do you know there is a quick method by which you can calculate in thin positions, let's five pieces each, if you can win or lose by opposition?
I think I get it when you talk about the field connections, but how to apply that is kinda vague. I wonder wouldn't it be better to demonstrate this with, let's say, five against five pieces?
Well noted. Thanks

The expert in his prime. Well calculated and clever moves, kudos to his opponents for taking up the challenge, also. It takes two to make a sweet game
Thank you for your insightful comment! You’re absolutely right-it takes both players to create such masterpieces. Baba Sy's strategic brilliance truly shines when matched with formidable opponents, and these games are a testament to that. It’s amazing to see how every move, from both sides, contributes to the intensity and beauty of the game. Glad you enjoyed watching!
isn't shvartsman Russian? why the israeli flag?

would it work for the 12x12 version?
Sure. It works for the 12 x 12 version
Very good tutorial. Please can you do a video that demonstrates strategic dos and donts in centre play?
Noted. Thanks
I appreciate your input as well. This video was created specifically in response to your request. I trust it will be beneficial for you and other players interested in Blitz games.
@@koromamedia8146 Muchas gracias, sigue haciendo video hermano.
Where did you find these theories?, i don t find them in any book. I would appreciate an answer
The line diagram and the square diagram are my theories
Thanks bro, for the information.
My pleasure
I would love for explanation how the moves are forced, meaning what would happen if he making other move... At least for some of the moves the arw harder to understand. Like the first one for example
Noted. Thanks
In what book did you find the sqyare and the diamond diagram? I can't find them in international draughts books
The diamond diagram serves the purpose of identifying combinations, while the square diagram is utilized to pinpoint strategic positions, weaknesses, and combinations. Both the square and diamond diagrams are concepts I have developed independently. Thank you.
beatiful
Thanks
Es increíble cómo juega todo el match a un nivel impresionante para poder retener su campeonato mundial, simplemente Alexander Dibman era mejor que Anatoli Gantvarg.
Yes, Dipman was an excellent player, but he never stayed in the game for long due to ill health
@@koromamedia8146 Que lastima, es uno de mis jugadores favoritos, ojala hubieramos podido ver mas de el.

Thanks

I'm happy to hear that . Thanks

At what stage of the game would this theory hold or cease to hold? Can it work at a later stage of the game if the player didn't adopt it in the beginning? What are the exceptions or limitations to the rule? Thank you.
Thank you for your question, Syrup 111. The square diagram technique is extremely effective and can be utilized throughout the entire game without any limitations. It can also be used to secure a good position for the kings. In some of my videos, I have demonstrated how to apply the square diagram from the beginning to the end of a game. You can find examples of this in the following links: 1. ua-cam.com/video/ocl64H2s208/v-deo.html 2. ua-cam.com/video/WSsnmVGMcyg/v-deo.html 3. ua-cam.com/video/F4iAk9HCEg8/v-deo.html
Nice lesson of Calculations and Judging positions. Thanks for sharing, Koroma Media.
My pleasure!
By far your best video
Thanks for watching my videos. Lots on the way
At first I thought the square diagram and the line diagram was all I needed but I was wrong😂
Shalom. 😮
Both players exhibit exceptional skill
Boa jogada
Yea. Precise moves
Très bon joueur ❤❤
Yea, he is very good. I want to see him play in the world championship
Capturing the other way, that is, with piece 23, would have prevented the kingshot.
1. 29 - 22 18 x 29 2. 32 x 21 23 x 32 3. 39 x 28 20 x 29 4. 38 - 32 29 x 27 5. 28 - 22 19 x 28 6. 37 - 33 27 x 38 (or 28 x 37) 7. 43 x 5 Nevertheless, despite the capturing ability of yellow, white will ultimately seize the opportunity to take the king shot. In this particular scenario, the piece positioned on square 43 will execute the king shot towards square 5. Thank you.
nice! what app are you using for the checkers ?
Lidraughts. Thanks
Im not sure you assess your videos for learning impact. A lot of the features you share are not practicable, given the huge ambiguity and lack of consistency in the ideas. Your intentions are wonderful, but the goals are not properly pursued in your teaching processes. Your theories should involve a good scenario structuring, showing the "whats", "hows", "whens", and "whys" of the techniques you share. My 2 cents.
I believe you have watched some of my tutorials. This was just the introduction to my tutorials.
Good video! I noted that you did not discuss the implications or uses of the discussed connections. Please, kindly share the title of the background sound.
