Beautiful tone and rich sound. It's interesting to hear the violin part alone. Have you recorded the 2nd movement of Prokofiev 2nd? That's a soaring masterpiece. Tortoise shell frog? Long ago, I saw an ivory frog that had been scrimshawed with an amazingly detailed harbor scene.
@@matthewcheever5719 Nice to see you Matthew! I only have the Prokofiev 1st. For some reason, I never acquired the 2nd concerto. Perhaps I should take a look now.🤝🎻
@@yi-wenjiang835 You'll never live long enough to sample even the tiniest sliver of music. I'm a confirmed Romanticist, but even with that restriction, I'll never arrive at a 'favorite', nor can I constrain myself absolutely to that era. There's always something new and interesting. I've often marvelled that we've been using those same '12 tones' for millenia, but someone always finds a new twist. We have a neat perspective. Just examining the violin, we can see those early rebels like Tartini and Vivaldi. They were probably the Stravinskys of their day. Not long afterward, a crazy Italian came along and showed us something even crazier with magical techniques and sounds. Then, Sarasate, Wieniawski, Vieuxtemps, Enescu, Bull and so many more who were not only magicians on the instrument, but accomplished orchestral composers. Then, there's the expansion of 'venue'. From concert hall to stage to film, we can hear Carmen (Bizet, Hubay or Waxman), Korngold, or John Williams. The violin is still the feature. When I first heard Fiddler, I was blown away by the opening cadenza. The tango scene in Scent of a Woman: Por una Cabeza. Still the violin. This can go on forever. A lifespan isn't enough!
@@yi-wenjiang835 Do you know this? ua-cam.com/video/L0XUTD7QYcs/v-deo.htmlsi=343_FRouWsP_QQtY I have little interest in 'country' or fiddling, but I like the energy and fun aspect of this short clip. Long ago, I played Carmen Dragon's arrangement of 'Ghost Riders in the Sky'. Through the miracles of electronic media, I connected with a guy who wrote the biography of the composer (name forgotten right now). He connected me with the Carmen Dragon Foundation and they very kindly sent me the recording of that piece with Carmen Dragon and Johnny Cash. Music is neat.
Wonderful and amazing. Thank you for sharing.

What a wonderful treasure - the teacher of Grumiaux, but not just that - fantastic playing.
He was a pupil of Eugène Ysaÿe. His exquisite slow playing moves me more profoundly than technical virtuosity, which I also admire.

Yi-Wen Jiang…..thank you for posting the Brahms. It is my fervent wish that the Libove’s performances become more widely known. I have many more of their performances that they gifted to me that you are welcome to. My only request is that you include the information you got this performance from which is “libovelugovoyduo”. Marvelous performance! Amazing thing - even in this old recording with shaky video - still violin sounds strong and clean. Violin is clearly the most powerful musical instrument of all!
Wow! That is just fantastic. All kinds of technical stuff with jumps all over, dog-whistle harmonics and scary open string double stops - to mention a few. One slip of a fingernail..... Sarasate seems to have managed a rather successful career playing music that he wrote for himself and highlighting his Spanish pride. It's just wonderful. Both of you played it beautifully with nice balance and playful rhythm. It would encourage anyone to take up the violin (then, there is the reality of seeing the printed page and realizing how those sounds are produced!) Thanks again.
@@matthewcheever5719 I adore Pablo's music, with its captivating melodies! His virtuosity is exceptional, yet technically all worked out perfectly. To master it, I simply need to find the right fingering and practice slowly and patiently. Thank you for listening!
A lovely tune - and the waltz lends itself nicely to the violin. As with Tchaikovsky (and many others), Glazunov demonstrates why you should know your scales! How about Por Una Cabeza?
Great artist genius God bless his memories one of the best
That was one I hadn't heard before. Sarasate certainly wrote prolifically - and quite nicely. Even better, we can hear him play in surprisingly decent recordings from 1904. While those virtuoso composers certainly put on a show of what seems to be impossible technique, they all also wrote some beautiful tunes. I especially like Kreisler's beautiful Paganini concerto with the lush orchestration I prefer. This one has a nice hint of Spanish rhythm. Thanks for finding and playing it.
@@matthewcheever5719 They all knew how to write attractive melodies, given their understanding of the instrument's limits, making the published pieces technically challenging yet manageable. Thank you!
Запись старая, а какой звук! Редкостной красоты, способный пройти Вселённую...
Those are some impressive double stops - especially the octaves! Pretty tunes like that are deceptively tough.
@@matthewcheever5719Indeed, this piece offers a rewarding challenge that can elevate your playing to new heights.
A beautiful tune and well-suited to solo violin.

As someone else also commented, the youth orchestra is exceptionally good....but as for David Nadien, what a stellar violinist he was. The first movement cadenza is really jaw dropping. Not sure who wrote it, anyone know?
