Hi Colette, I just stumbled onto your video and love your incredible collection. Thank you for making this video as I enjoyed learning more about the older turquoise and seeing so many beautiful pieces in your collection. You sound like an absolutely wonderful daughter and prayers for your mom's comfort and I bet she really loves your music, too 😇
Thank you for such kind words, Annie. That means a lot to me. Some days are very difficult to navigate and often just a kind word re-energize me. Thank you so much.❤️
Collette ❤️ thank you for sharing your wonderful knowledge with us and you're beautiful collections❤ I for one would love to buy that concho belt among other beautiful things that you own. If I don't talk to you sooner I hope you have a blessed & Happy Holiday!
Aw, thank you Mama C! I will sell the concho belt anytime. I have no immediate plan yet for an online auction. Feel free to email me at ccslemp@yahoo.com if you’d like to talk about it. ❤

Your collection is gorgeous!!!!
You are so kind!❤
Colette, you know I'm a fan of yours, but once again, I can't take my eyes off your pieces. That Santo Domingo Heishe and Jasper Beads necklace? Absolutely adorable. The concho belt and that repousse brooch? Stunning!! Pure genius that you recreate Claire's time by putting that brooch on that hat. Loving the homely and open vibe of your recording space this time, too 💕
Thank you Merche ❤ That’s my studio.
Hi I'm new love the video and how to tell if it's real turquoise lovely pieces ❤❤
Hello Collette... Thank you for the video's... I've been buying jewelry for over 50 yrs. So i might be a horder. I'll be looking forward to your next video of your cat's too 😊.
lol! Maybe we’re all hoarders in a way but I prefer to say we’re connoisseurs!😂
Thats gorgeous ❤ ❤❤
Thank you! I wish the camera could pick up the pretty citrus in the spray better.
Amazing collection 😮❤
Thank you, my sweet friend! That means a lot coming from somebody I admire so much ❤
Your demo was awesome and I am learning so much, Colette. You have become a natural in front of camera and a great storyteller. ❤
Oh Jody, you’re so sweet and I love you, my friend!
Watching a second time…a first phase concho belt in your family….amazing!
Yes, Huskey! I have pictures of my grandmother wearing it and my aunt wearing it as a young girl. It is stunning. Perhaps if my aunt brings it on her next visit I will able to show it! Circa prior to the turn of the century!
Oh my how Beautiful is that ❤ Love that song 🎵 🎉
Amazing Items ❤ the memories even more Amazing 💖
I would never give you a bad mark. I cannot wait until a auction. I love the belt. I have always wanted one. 💙❤️💜
I will sell the concho belt anytime if you want to consider it before the auction. You can email me at ccslemp@yahoo.com I’m so glad you like the videos! I’m just flying by the seat of my pants😂

Thank you! I appreciate that!
OHHHHHH I want that broach....put that one up for sale!!
You are doing a great job and I am trying to learn all that too!
Well, I love learning from other people so maybe we can learn from one another! I’ve got lots of books that were my mother’s and that I’ve bought and wonderful reference books but beyond that is where the investigating comes in. Just like you helping me yesterday with that cuff! That helped with the pieces together!
Love that heishi necklace...could be strung on sinew which they used alot. Looks like a custom design with that clasp.
I thought about sinew as well, but the more I looked at it it doesn’t look like seen you. It’s a lot of fine fibers that look like horse hair like tail hair they long and there’s probably two dozen or more bunch together and it runs all the way through the center piece. Sinew isn’t that fine I don’t think.

Thank you once again for sharing your collection. I really enjoy the stories of the various pieces.
Thank you, Husky!❤
New to making cabochon jewellery, I'm learning so much from you and enjoy your stories immensely thankyou. If the matrix is fake does that mean the turquoise is too or not necessarily?
Hi Annie! No, that does not mean the turquoise is fake or died. As is the case with that green, turquoise strand, the turquoise is beautiful and real. Old pieces are probably not fake. Newer pieces of turquoise could be plastic or some synthetic or could be dyed Howlite. Important to trust who you’re buying from. Over the years the market has suggested consumers like more matrix so there is some turquoise out there that inherently has a white matrix and then it is dyed black… more pleasing to the eye I suppose. If it is died and not covered with some material, then you should be able to rub the dye off as well. With howlite the dye goes very thinly through just the top layer the stone underneath would be white.

@@slempdesigns ok thankyou for clarifying. Im purchasing cabs to make pendants and rings and always want authentic. Im in Australia and unfortunately we don't have the gorgeous turquoise here that you have. You're so lucky to have access to so many beautiful semi precious stones!
Another great video - that brooch is a work of art, and I love the tips on testing for dyed matrix Im sure it happens quite a lot, great video Colette!!!
❤
Thank you again! I never gave a thought that the matrix could be dyed. I am constantly learning from you. Your home is just lovely.
Thank you Jane!

Colette, your knowledge of Native American jewelry is such a gift to all who watch your videos. Truly impressive and your collection is DREAMY!
Wow, thank you!❤
I’m marveled. What a gift of astounding history. Your provenance is as incredible as your heirloom treasures! Thank you for sharing! 🫶🏼
There are a couple native silversmiths in Alamo, New Mexico, Colette.
@@Mustang68gtcs Thank you! Someone else mentioned that there is a small Navaho res in Alamo and the name Padilla associated with it. I think they may be descendants of “Joe Padilla”. This cuff appears to be very very old.
Well, at this moment I declare myself addicted to good French coffee, and Colette's videos😊This is a Holy-Moly from beginning to end! The necklaces, the beautiful concho belt, the bracelet, everything here is dreamy 🦋🌻🦋
Wow, thank you!❤❤
Amazing history! Luv your energy and enthusiasm. Look forward to your next video! 🫶🏼

So beautiful Collette! It reminds me of my daughter Natalie Lauren who is not with us anymore. The music is so haunting & fitting. ❤🙏🪷
You have an incredible beautiful collection! Thank you for sharing! And thank you for sharing all of your knowledge! I love your videos!!! ❤❤❤
There is a little known reservation in Alamo, NM. which is Navajo. I believe that your bracelet was made in that region by the Navajo silversmith Joe Padilla.
OMG!! Have you heard of him?? If so, what time frame was he alive? The last name Padilla threw me as to whether or not it was a Native American name.
@@slempdesigns I had a bracelet almost identical that I bought used in the 80s with his name. Padilla is a family name from Alamo Navajo Res and they still do art today. He may have past on but probably the Padillas alive today are relatives. Many Navajos have a Spanish name and intermarried. You could try to get in touch with the Res and see if they can tell you if he is still alive.
Those darn mimosas get ya every time...lol. These pieces are simply WOW factors. The beauty in it all...oh my ! Thanks so much for sharing. You're wonderful ! XO chellebelle1016
Thanks Chelle! 😘
Thank you for this fabulous video! I love those old, old necklaces and that cuff at the end…was that from your mother’s collection? That is a Jason cuff, if there ever was one…the patina is gorgeous! 🖤 and the stones…🩵💚🩵💚 Wowza! Thank you, Colette! Sending you good vibes from the desert for you and your mom! 🌵🩵💙💚
@@KristinFindingMutti24 Hi Kristin! I really appreciate your note and encouragement! Im just being myself and trying to share interesting stuff with folks. That cuff was not from my mother/grandmother. I ran across it and liked it not knowing that it would present such a puzzle for me. I’ll eventually sell it along with some other pieces but I’d really like to figure out its story first if possible. Padilla is not a Navaho surname…it’s Mexican and Alamo is in Texas so Im trying to determine if it’s older than I first thought. I’ll keep you posted! Please share out my channel if you will. Im trying to build up a subscriber base before I do an auction. Thank you again my friend! ❤️
@ I shall spread the word about your channel! You have an incredible collection, thank you for sharing it with us 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your collection. The history is so interesting to me. I have just recently developed a desire to own native pieces. I grew up in northern Minnesota, where the Ojibwa live. It is not a turquoise area. Only the last 5 years I have fallen in love with the stone. Can you explain the significance of the squash blossom? Was it a celebration piece? What is the history of the design? Thank you again.
Jane, the naja goes back as far as the Moorish and then the Spaniards used it to adorn their horse bridles. The Navajo adopted it as a reverse, crescent moon design, and felt that it had helped with fertility, wealth, and bravery.

@@slempdesigns Thank you so much. You answered a lot of questions I had. Especially that it is not an offence for a non-native to wear one. Hopefully I can acquire one at some point. Love all of yours.
Wow!!! I am MESMERIZED by all you were beautiful pieces of American jewelry!
